First time visit to Hilton Head. Had to quickly change plans when the hurricane damaged our Wrightsville hotel. What a lucky diversion! Palmetto Dunes is gorgeous- so much beautiful landscaping to take in. The Omni fit our family of four well - large rooms, open air corridors (a COVID bonus) and great pools for kids and adults alike. The staff made it truly outstanding though - all were eager to help and very friendly (not always the case today). We’ll definitely be back!
This was our third visit to Hilton Head Island. This time we just went for 2 nights over Father's Day. We had previously visited the Marriott Resort hotel and the Omni was night and day different- and better. First of all, the front desk staff was very friendly and upgraded us to a partial ocean view. All of the staff were wearing masks and they didn't seemed overwhelmed or put out. They could not have been more friendly. This goes for the front desk as well as the bartender at the pool. Social distancing is much easier to do here than the Marriott, partially because of the layout with 2 buildings and multiple elevators and stairs. We didn't feel like we had to be on the elevator with anyone else, unlike at the Marriott where the elevators couldn't keep up and we were always with another family on the elevator. The Omni's layout and exterior reminds me a little bit of the Westin St John, and when you drive up and walk in, you just breathe a little sigh of contentment. I was pleasantly surprised to find a kitchenette in the room and the room itself plenty of room for our family of 4 to spread out. I liked the layout of the bathroom too, with a separate, second vanity outside of the actual bathroom. (Helps when you have a teenager who hogs the mirror). Last but not least, the beach is not crowded at all, in fact, you can look down the beach and see the vast sea of people at the Marriott...but not at the Omni. Plenty of room to spread out at the beach. Pool looked great too, but we really didn't partake. We ordered food from the Buoy Bar (pool bar) for lunch both days and it was yummy. The drinks were good too, and the bartenders friendly. We also loved the location of the Omni, it's in Palmetto Dunes and walkable to the general store. Just an "fyi" notes - parking was tight and the lot got full in the evenings but may have been because of construction items taking up some spaces. (The adult pool area is currently under construction). I wanted to try on something in the gift shop, but they couldn't let me because of COVID. (I understand, but couldn't buy it without trying on). In closing, we would definitely return to the Omni and recommend it to our friends!…
Came to the Omni at Hilton Head Island for our honeymoon due to restrictions on travel from the US due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we couldn’t be happier with the stay and the accommodations from the resort. The pool area consists of 3 pools (including one that is adults only) and 2 bars. The staff are all very friendly and personable. There are a few names that I feel deserve a special shout-out as they made the trip worth-while for my wife and I. The first person that we met at the resort was Derek, who helped us with our bags and pointed us in the right direction. The guy is a class A gentleman and very pleasant in manner. We were served by a waitress named Mimi at the resort’s dinner and breakfast spot, HH prime (awesome crab cakes) Again, a very cordial and easy-going personality at the resort. She exhibited tremendous knowledge of the island and felt like a best-friend by the end of the vacation. Now, the majority of our time was spent at the pool and the nearby Buoy and Breeze Bars. The bartenders that served us could mix any drink that your heart desires and they even made suggestions based on your taste for alcohol. The stand-outs are easily Corey, Renard, and Phil. You will usually catch one of these three at either pool bar or at the XO Sports Bar during the summertime. Not only were they favorites of my wife and I, but we were able to see how well they connect with persons of all backgrounds/areas of the world. These 3 can hold conversations and keep you engaged, but the most impressive thing about them was their ability to get the hotel guests conversing and enjoying the vacation together even with social distancing and proper pre-cautions in place. My wife and I made friends with other couples from different states during our stay and it was all due to the bartenders Corey, Phil, and Renard being so personable. Being from the northeast, it is rare to have the service that these three provided. They are special talents and the Omni needs to hold on to all of them.…
The beach access and pools at this hotel are wonderful. I especially liked the shade umbrellas WITHIN the water of the big pool. I was able to chill in the shade while my kiddo swam right next to me. We never had a problem finding lounge chairs either. The open air hallways were nice; feels very tropical to catch a breeze when you exit your room. The rooms, on the other hand, were underwhelming: low popcorn ceilings that had visible dustballs, bubbled ceiling spots in the bathroom from the room above, cramped bathrooms lacking a fan (or a clothesline to hang swimsuits- something that is so useful for a beach hotel), rusty pipes exposed and visible under both vanities. It felt old and a little icky despite having granite counters and nice dimmable lights.
Stunning & conveniently on the Atlantic Ocean. W/ multiple restaurants & bars, you really don't have to leave, unless you don't like paying ridiculous drink prices. We really enjoyed the wait staff at the pool, but prices are insane. $9 for a well drink, $13 for a margarita/ specialty cocktail, $5.25 domestic bottle, $7 domestic draft and $11 house bloody Mary. Money goes very fast at these prices. The nachos at XO Lounge were disappointing. Hardly any topping, all the queso was at the bottom. My kids sandwiches were good but $ like everything else. Extra COVID cleaning? where? maybe in the front lounge. The bell boy was constantly cleaning the entry doors and handles. I did not see anyone wiping down the lounge chairs at the pool w/ cleaner the 5 days we were there. it doesn't look like much sweeping occurs either b/c stuff that was left around the chairs was still there in the a.m. 1 day, I watched a worker drag a full & LEAKING garbage bag across the pool area deck. It left a leak trail where everyone walked bare feet! Speaking of pools it was great to have 3 options, but they were warm. 90 - 95 degrees maybe? Not refreshing. I overheard a manager talking about a chiller system that would be a great investment. Housekeeping comes early 8-9! if you are not ready at that time, cleaning won't be done until after 2 pm. They do a good job in the rooms though. BC we like to drink while on vacay, we would not stay here again. Too expensive for our taste. happy hour would be nice.…
