It was an unfortunate and disappointed stay. Although we were happy with the room and general service, we were badly treated for a management problem from the hotel. Here is what happened. We were evacuated from our home because of hurricane Dorian. When we checked in this hotel, we have been told by a staff that this is  hurricane relief hotel. This staff also told us that the breakfast is free for the hurricane evacuees. Although we did not plan to have breakfast in the hotel (my son has severe food allergy), we really appreciated the gesture and nice offer from the hotel. So we decided to try it the next morning. In the morning, before we came down to the restaurant, my wife called the front desk again, to confirm the breakfast time, and the free offering to evacuees. She was told yes, the breakfast is complimentary for us. However, to our surprise, when we approach the restaurant, the waiter there told us our room number is NOT on their list for complimentary breakfast. When we asked the front desk, the person who answered my wife's phone call said he misunderstood my wife's question. He told us, there is no program to offer free breakfast to evacuees. We were surprised by that, since it is hard to believe there is a miscommunication, or confusion by their staff on such offer. The most frustrated thing is, when the manager came, she thought we were trying to take advantage of the hotel! She was laughing at us, saying "how can we offer such things to so many evacuees?" She did not feel sorry for what happened at all since she did not even believe us. We were upset by how badly we were treated. We simply expressed our feeling and walked away. The following day, after running into the person who answered my wife's phone call, we expressed our feeling again. Obviously he mentioned it to the staff who checked us in the first day, who late wrote an apology letter to us with a $20 voucher attached. We rejected the voucher when we checked out, in front of the hotel manager, who mistreated us. We told her that this is an unfortunates event, but we shouldn't be mistreated like that. The manager finally apologized to us, and asked us what she can do to make us feel better.  We told her, we need nothing from her, and they must find and fix their management or communication problem, since any staff in the hotel should not be confused by such as simple offer to evacuees. In addition, although I really don't want to mention Race as a factor in this event, it is likely the case. Because, as an Asian family, I felt dramatic behavior change from the white manager from the hotel after I had a two-hour informal management meeting with my white colleague in the hotel lobby, where the manager checked on us multiple times. In general, we still like the hotel and staff there are friendly. But the attitude of the manager turned the whole situation to the negative side. We really hope everyone can learn from this.

Dear Claio0128, Thank you for your review. Your review is your opinion but it not appropriate when you mention racism. This is hateful and certainly not the case at a Marriott branded hotel. I must first address this factor as it simply is not true. The hotel employs a staff of at least 30 associates, of which approximately 60% are of a diverse origin and not Caucasian and we are honored to have each person as a Marriott associate. It is never permitted and never appropriate to treat anyone any differently due to race. Also I would like to mention that you were never laughed at or made fun of. My front desk associate heard and watched every interaction you and I had and most certainly I took your comments seriously and did not make light of the situation. The hotel was full of evacuees due to the Hurricane. Breakfast was not included in your rate and it was not mentioned that it was to you on the phone or at check in. We do have rates that include breakfast but the desk staff is trained to provide that guest with a breakfast coupon that is presented at the restaurant. I am very sorry that you mention both you and your wife hearing us say that breakfast was free more then once. In general Hurricane Dorian was a very tough time for our guests such as yourself who had evacuated from their homes unsure of what was to come. Our hotel rates stayed low, we permitted all pets at no fee, we permitted all changes and cancellations at no fee as well. We also took care of every single guest we came across that week, made popcorn in the lobby and ensured every single guests safety while we harbored them from the storm. I am very sorry that your stay with us was displeasing. Although we could not offer breakfast to every guest in the hotel on a complimentary basis we for sure did offer gracious hospitality and respect to every guest and did everything we could to ensure a safe stay while evacuated. For a national chain hotel, this location feels more like a boutique, luxury B&B. Desk staff knew us by name and referred to us by first name every time we were in the lobby. Great visit!! Also gave great recommendations for local dining.

This was a pleasure trip to Greenville. The hotel was convenient to everything from the Mall to Downtown Greenville--not to be missed. Breakfast selections were varied. The quality of food was good. The room was clean. We would stay here again.

Just stayed a few days on family business - It was a great decision. The hotel is clean, safe, and located in a convenient spot just over the highway on the other side of the Mall. You're just a few minute drive to the myriad of restaurants in the area and shopping. There is a gas station and convenience store just up the street. The room was very clean, the bathroom spotless, and the frig & AC worked perfectly. The lobby is definitely a Millennial draw, with a upscale looking café serving food throughout the day and a Starbucks Café onsite. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I was stuck and needed a few copies made of a business document and they made the copies for me. I was willing to pay, but they said it was their pleasure to help me. (They didn't have to do it for free.) Overall, this is a really nice Courtyard.

Our room was worn and sofa was sagging! Needs a refurbish. This hotel was very busy all the rooms were reserved.Very worn rooms. Stayed at many Courtyards and like the predictability but the rooms here are older with sagging sofas! Smaller lobby with smaller bistro but updated.
