We booked the Battery Carriage House based on reviews but we were highly disappointed. The inn is located in a quieter part of town across from white point gardens - or so we thought. We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night and were awoken by noise from the large construction project next door. Check in was smooth and the... More

The Battery Carriage House is absolutely beautiful and rich in history. We stayed in room 10- one of the rooms which is supposedly haunted. Delightfully creepy but sadly no ghost seen by us on our one night visit. No matter, I would definitely stay again !

We chose this B & B over others because their web site promised breakfast brought to you on a silver tray. That sounded like a fun extra. When we got there, we were informed about breakfast in the lobby. Turns out they had changed their breakfast, but their web site was out of date when we looked at it. Breakfast... More

My daughter and I happened upon this place- we didn't look it up online- just walked in because the entryway was beautiful and welcoming. The desk help was incredible. We stayed on the ground level. The room was historical, beautiful, and just perfect for us. The hotel, its location, and staff were definite high points in our vacation.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a couple of nights and were drawn to the property because of the possible paranormal activity, although we did not stay in one of the two haunted rooms. The rooms were adorable, the bathroom was a perfect size and although the place had the charm of a building that has been standing for... More

First the positives: 1. Friendly, helpful staff. 2. Beautiful house 3. Historic, quiet location 4. Clean rooms And the negatives: 1. I was originally booked in one of the lower level rooms in the main house. Because of water damage, I was moved to the carriage house (with a reduction in price). 2. For the price, the carriage house rooms... More

After a lovely stay at this inn, I am really scratching my head about why there are any poor reviews of it. We were a little skeptical going in after reading some of the less flattering reviews, but we love that area of Charleston and decided to give it a try. We could not have been more pleased with our... More

The hotel was a nice piece of history. We felt like we are in the past. Rooms were clean and accomodating. Only thing I can say was let down by was the breakfast. Bagel, english muffin, yogurt and apple offered same everyday. Great location. We literally walked the entire trip.

The staff were great :) The inn looks nothing like their pictures they have not had any maintenance done to the property in years, rooms smell very musty and dank boards on the walkway were broken shower head half way worked the back yard area is dirt and weeds and for your great breakfast dry cereal or a brain muffin.... This accommodation definitely did not match the description on the website. The website needs updating to match what is on offer. The meagre breakfast was not served on a silver tray or under the rose arbor but in a dark, shabby lobby with plaster peeling off one wall. You could take it back to your room on a rickety wicker...
