Location, location, location! Not only is the Dewberry's location ideal for walking all around Charleston, its staff and amenities are outstanding. As a remodeled Federal building, the mid-century modern decor is absolutely beautiful and charming. Our driver Chricci was a wealth of information about the area since it was our first visit. Laura at the front desk was friendly, courteous, and welcoming. Lauren at the concierge desk was very helpful. Special kudos to Kevy and Lauren in the Living Room. Daily breakfast was delicious with excellent service. After we purchased local produce one morning at the nearby farmer's market, Kevy took our purchase back to the kitchen and presented us with a delicious and beautiful dish that was freshly-prepared from it. Special hotel and experience!

My wife and I stayed 3 days at the Dewberry as part of a small corporate group meeting held at the Dewberry. If I am fortunate to return to Charleston I would choose to stay at one of the other several hotels billing themselves as 5-star hotels. The Dewberry was not worth the price tag. The Dewberry’s concierge staff is 5-star – each one we worked with was very professional, efficient, and able to make reservations for us several of the top restaurants on short notice. The bed was very comfortable with luxurious sheets and towels and the bathroom, although small, was all marble. As a guest you also have the privilege of being put in the front of the waiting list to have a very expensive drink at the wildly popular rooftop bar, The Citrus Club. For a 5-star, expensive hotel, in feel the Dewberry fell short in a few respects. First, the building is a former government building and looks and feels like it. It lacks beauty, character and charm of other 5-star hotels we visited and had researched. The hotel is popular with corporate groups and meetings and, as a result, always feels crowded and relatively loud. The Dewberry is also not as conveniently located as several of its peer hotels, requiring at least a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk to many of the best restaurants and the historic areas of Charleston. Although probably true with other top hotels in Charleston, I do not feel it is reasonable to charge $45/night to park your car. There is no coffee maker in the rooms and the coffee available in the lobby was out a couple mornings during our stay. Our room was small with no desk and only enough room to squeeze by the end of the king bed. Most aggravating, the rooms are not adequately sound-proofed and we were able to hear everything going on in the adjacent room. In short, for the price I would consider other 5-star hotel options closer to The French Quarter or South of Broad.

Perfect mix of elegance, good taste & zen ! This delightful hotel was a true find in a city that has almost unlimited choices for lodging. This hotel seems like a good mix between a boutique hotel & a larger brand, with everything you would need. Everyone we encountered, from the valet, to reception, the restaurant staff and spa staff were incredibly friendly, genuine and professional. Our room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and definitely high end with marble everywhere ! So much to explore in this charming, historic city and The Dewberry is the perfect place to stay !

Great location and service. Rooms are solid, quiet, the bed is probably the most comfortable hotel bed ever! Very memorable. The bathroom is probably the largest hotel bathroom around and adds to the overall enjoyment of the room. We even had a view of the water from our bedroom. Easy walking from here too.

We didn’t stay at the Dewberry, but my wife found the living room bar and the citrus club at the Dewberry. The living room was excellent great atmosphere great service proper quality cocktails. The service was friendly attentive, and like I said, the cocktails were on point with proper proportions and a proper pour. We liked it so much. We made sure to come back at noon on Sunday to be one of the first ones in to the rooftop bar at the citrus club. The citrus club has the best rooftop bar in the city view wise. Their cocktails are A-OK, but the atmosphere and service is superior

The Dewberry is not the least expensive place you can stay in Charleston. But, if you want a great experience, with a nice room, a central location and quite superior customer service, it is certainly worth the cost. The hotel is among the best I’ve been in with regard to the professionalism and competency of the staff. We had a quite small issue during our stay ( we had a cheese plate sent to the room and had requested that it not include blue cheese. It did.) The response was overwhelming courteous and appropriate. These folks are true pros. We could have been more impressed. Stay at The Dewberry with confidence. You’ll be glad you did.

Uber driver told me to check out the super cool rooftop bar at the Dewberry Hotel. I was with my 9 year old son, and upon our arrival, was told it was 21+...we were just hoping to get a cold lemonade and check out the supposedly amazing view of the city. It was only 1:00pm so I figured it wouldn't have been 21+ yet, but I was wrong. We ended up getting a lemonade in the downstairs bar area called "The Living Room" which was cute and cozy. Hotel seemed nice and it was walkable to the Charleston Museum, Marion Square, and the Aquarium.

Great location, fantastic, friendly and helpful staff and sleek, modern rooms We stayed (as a couple) in July 2023. We had a Corner King room (423) The Dewberry is in a converted, JFK era Federal building repurposed as a boutique-like hotel. Beautiful lobby with comfortable chairs and tables to have a meal or a drink at "The Living Room" lobby bar and eatery. (We had breakfast which was very tasty). Easy walk to shops on King Street as well as to "south of Broad" for carriage rides or walking tours etc Check in was seamless and the refreshing beverages were appreciated! Our room, while not overly large (but enough room for two) was very well appointed. Comfy King bed, mini bar (not included), dresser, etc, robes and slippers located in the bottom of the bureau...FYI - there are additional outlets for phones etc located in the nightstands in the shelf above the bottom drawer - didn't figure this out until our last night LOL. Otherwise, use a USB connection in the clock to charge phones. The real gem of the room is the bathroom - all marble with a large double sink vanity, HUGE shower stall with rain shower type shower head and a separate toilet area with door. Towels were soft and all was very clean. Very luxurious. One tip - our room faced east so make sure to close those blinds tightly as well as close the sliding barn door to the bathroom as the window in there has a opaque shade but not a curtain and the sun comes blasting through and will wake you if light bothers you when you sleep. The Dewberry has a great rooftop bar called the "Citrus Club" - spectacular view of Charleston and the all the surrounding waterways/bridges. Great drinks and food (there is an inside section in case of inclement weather). The Dewberry offers free one way rides to close by locations on a "first come, first served" basis. (they can pick you up as well but there is a fee) BIG SHOUT OUT to "Tony" - he was indispensable when giving advice for various restaurants, making beach arrangements for Isle of Palms and just being a really helpful, friendly guy. The staff were all very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay while you're there. All in all - one of the best hotel experiences we have had!
