My husband, teenage son and I stayed here for a long weekend trip to visit Charleston. We stayed in the Hyatt House portion of the hotel and it was a VERY nice room. We had a kitchen and breakfast bar, comfortable sofa bed and a very comfortable king size bed in the separate bedroom. The room was really great. I did not like the fact the only real option for parking was in the city garage next to the hotel as it was a bit pricey. Also, this hotel is not very central to the historic district but rather at the opposite end of the waterfront. It is not too far and even though we had a car, we did use Uber a couple of times and it was inexpensive to get to the market and waterfront. It is a great option though-price is right and staff was very helpful and friendly.

Excellent hotel. Great location. Clean rooms. The parking is in a city garage and the entrance is right there in the hotel courtyard. So, very convenient. It's $2 per hour with daily max of $18, which sounds reasonable, but in reality you end up paying twice that. Why? Because the parking daily clock resets at 12 midnight. So, if you park starting at 3 pm on first day and leave at 11 am on next day, then you have to pay $36. $18 for first day. And once the clock resets at 12 midnight, then the timer starts again FROM MIDNIGHT. So you have to pay $18 again for the next day. Also, there are no in and out privileges. I hope the hotel partners with city to offer better rates for guests. Other than the parking charges, everything was good. Tip: D'Allesandro's Pizza is only a couple of blocks away. We did not want to dine-in in any restaurants, so we ordered takeout from D'Allesandro's Pizza. We liked it so much that we ordered from same place again the following night.

Well, the pandemic messed up so many things in my life; however, the Hyatt was not one of them. Yes, there were some things missing from our service due to the pandemic, but they were all reasonable and in spite of the whole world going crazy...we had a great time and would come back to the hotel for a comfortable, peaceful rest each day. Do I mind waiting for the next elevator since only 4 people were supposed to be on at a time? Nope. Do I mind wearing a mask when I'm close to others? Not much. But really, I've stayed in many hotels around the world and these guys were top notch! My only hesitation in writing this review is that too many people will book this place next time I'm coming to town.

My wife and I came to Charleston over Labor Weekend for a getaway. We had looked at a lot of hotels in the Historic District but decided on this one, and were not disappointed. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful. The parking situation seems to be a sticking point , and I'm sure they have to explain to just about everybody how it works, but they didn't blink an eye. Speaking of parking, as it does seem to be a consistent complaint, we found that most every hotel is the same; you will pay for parking, and it's not cheap. So if you factor that in and accept it for what it is, it's much easier to deal with. The room itself was very well appointed with a 2-burner stove, dishwasher, small fridge and freezer and dinnerware. The bed was comfortable and there was an L-shaped couch and an ottoman. I read reviews saying the rooms weren't cleaned before or during people's stays. I had no problem with the room not being cleaned during a stay. Ours wasn't and we were there for 3 nights. We are tidy people anyway, so we didn't find it to be a bad thing. And any way we can reduce the risk of spreading Covid is worth it to us. We had called ahead before we arrived and asked to not be on the floor below the rooftop bar, and also away from the street. The front desk had no obligation to do so, but we found that, after 10pm when the live music from the bar across the street ended, we had no street noise at all. Oh, I've been reading a lot of complaints about breakfast too. We had no problem with the grab-and-go breakfasts. There are so many excellent options nearby I didn't see it being an issue. I can understand why people are upset, especially as hotels are still advertising having hot breakfast available. What they don't say is that you have to pay for it, so keep that in mind, for now at least. Otherwise, if we were ever to go back to Charleston, we would definitely stay here again.

I recently booked a 4 night stay at The HyattHouse on King Street . It”s location was great & parking garage gave easy access for moving a few students into their apartment. Front desk was friendly, lobby was clean. Now, the room I got on the 6 th floor was old, dark & surprisingly not that well cared for during Covid. The hallways were dark & smelled like strong food orders from people cooking. Guess kitchens have drawbacks. The 1 br suite was large, but that is only good thing I can say. I did not notice all of this because we dropped the suitcases & ran out the door. At 10 pm, we returned. The bathroom was dark ! Brown very, very, dated tiles that could only get do clean. I had to call maintenance to change two lightbulbs .. all during Covid.. Light made it worse! Lol Exhausted , We crashed, did move in day 2. Not being able to shower in the hotel room is insane. I then cut my four day trip there short! Luckily, if you book with hotel directly , and I called at 1 am... there is no fee if out by Noon . Changed hotels & realized how bad my room was. Did I mention it looked at the U- Haul lot which is loud at night! I can ignore the stained couch & damaged TV furniture, but the bathroom shower, not so much! I wanted it to be nice bc of it”s convenient location . In July, My daughter had a nice room in Hyatt place overlooking King Street. She got lucky! I heard the Hyatt place is much cleaner & newer. I went to an amazing hotel & because I booked with front desk at 2 am, he felt bad & gave me great rate. I took a 45 minute shower & realized how dirty & worn out our 6 th floor room was ! I did not complain too much bc I was so happy to be out of their without penalty & of the low price. I do, however , want to warn future C of C parents . Be careful which side u book & which room you get there.. :( Lastly, they were resetting the elevator & we got stuck for 10 minutes in the parking garage! I swear you cannot make this crap up! I emailed the manager.. no response which bothered me more than the run down, , weathered room! !!
