I rarely ever write reviews but the Zero George hotel and restaurant in Charleston went above and beyond my already high expectations. It has a beautiful courtyard and impeccably designed rooms in neutral tones with possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The staff and service are excellent AND their Covid considerations were fantastic- making it safe and effortlessly easy to feel comfortable. Our tasting dinner at the Zero George was insanely delicious - a must for any epicurean- inclined visitor to Charleston - and breakfast in bed was luxurious and so tasty. I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you!!!

We chose Zero George for its small size, beauty, isolated rooms with verandas, strict COVID policy, and location in the historic district. We agree with the positive reviews. Specifically, and to address some reviewers' issues: Contactless entry -- text/email confirmation the day before. Wte were escorted straight to our room and had assistance with our luggage. Immaculate, spacious room. We did bring our own pillows, but only out of personal precaution. Housekeeping is only by request -- not a problem. If we needed something (ice, trashcan emptied, etc.), the response was prompt. We enjoyed having a simple breakfast delivered to the room. Eating on the veranda was a relaxing way to start the day. Guests shouldn't expect an elaborate breakfast menu during these restricted times (though I'd suggest not chilling the waffle syrup). The complimentary wine and charcuterie was also an enjoyable treat late in the afternoon. We grudgingly accepted the valet parking as a part of staying in a city with limited parking areas. We walked everywhere in the historic district (and really appreciated the large umbrellas!). If we needed our car, it was brought promptly -- and the valet wore gloves! The highlight of our stay was the tasting menu dinner with wine pairing -- a birthday indulgence for my husband. We were seated outside on a veranda. The menu is one for those who enjoy small portions of creatively prepared food. Several reviewers mentioned the street noise. Yes, we heard the traffic while sitting outside, but we're used to that from home. I wasn't aware of traffic noise at night in our room. If you are very sensitive to traffic noise, you should request a room farther away from E. Bay St. For us the open layout and privacy of the veranda room was worth it. My only other suggestion would be to provide a brighter reading light. Even on its full setting, the bedside lamp was a bit dim. Perhaps there could be a brighter bulb or a reading light behind the corner chair.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street are quieter, but the veranda rooms provide personal outdoor space.

We are delighted with Zero George. If in the area, you must stay here! The ambiance, service, food...all five star. Dinner at the restaurant was perfect. It feels very safe (COVID). We couldn’t be happier, more relaxed, and it is just what we needed at this time. Thank you George Zero!

Far exceeded my expectations. Zero George nails it in EVERY category: accommodations, atmosphere/vibe, and service. Cooking class is a forever memory, and the food was unbelievable. Afternoon wine and cheese hour, either on your porch or in the garden areas, is super special. The staff is amazing.
