Great location except for the couple of rooms immediately on East Bay will pick up traffic noise. Rooms are furnished appropriately and comfortably, perfectly reflected an “old” Charleston inn. Modern, well lighted bathrooms but ours had no tub and had a huge walk-in shower. AC quiet and works great. Bed was very comfortable. Exceptional hospitality by all the staff. The dinner meal is a fixed multi course menu, varying by season that is fantastic and absolutely worth whatever they charge. They parked our car and four days later returned it - walking and the complimentary bicycles is all you’ll need.

My wife and I traveled to Charleston for a quick anniversary weekend celebration. Zero George came highly recommended from local friends. It was absolutely perfect.
The property is a collection of historic homes arranged around a beautiful courtyard. When you arrive and walk through the gate you are stepping into a peaceful and serene outdoor space with brick patio, manicured stone gardens, furniture to lounge on, water features, and beautiful greenery.
The zero George location is easily walkable to attractions, tours, restaurants, and entertainment. The Ansonborough neighborhood is quiet and was a great place to take a walk through as well.
Arrival is done with a personal touch. We were individually greeted by some of the friendliest people we have ever met, treated like old friends, offered a glass of wine, and excellent conversation.
Our room was comfortable, it was classic, it was quiet, and most important to my wife and I it was unpretentious. Just very well executed simple luxury.
We ate the included breakfast at the restaurant in a classic sun room. We enjoyed happy hour in the bar. We had cocktails with the nicest s guests. We made new friends. We loved everything about it.

Such a beautiful enclave and the verandas are so beautiful and for shared use off your guest room. The ambiance really captures the essence of Charleston and the rooms are very well appointed and fresh feeling. White luxe bedding with pristine white robes and towels make for a very comfortable stay, and the mini fridge full of flat and sparkling water was much appreciated. Turndown service includes chocolates from Christophe- a celebrated local chocolatier and a true glass of water at your bedside. The only thing that was a bit disappointing were the Amex Fine Hotels and Resort perks as breakfast is included for everyone anyhow, and the restaurant (albeit beautiful and very highly rated) is a multi course tasting menu serving dinner, (no lunch) meaning that a more casual menu was not available for the tired traveler upon arriving nor for room service. Moreover, this makes the $100 Amex food and beverage credit a bit difficult to spend on food. In the end I used the credit on wine and would certainly return again.

My husband and I put a lot of time and effort planning our vacations and trips. Charleston is a very special place for us, so much so, that we had our wedding here at Cannon Green and had a romantic pre-wedding dinner here in 2015. Something has clearly gone caused a downhill trajectory.
Off the bat, we were not welcomed very warmly. We dragged our bags up stairs for my husband to just stand in a room of 3 people at there desks, ignoring him for 10 minutes before finally asking if he could be helped.
We were not informed of the construction in the restaurant or hotel in advance. The hotel claimed they did not have our contact information or the contact information of our virtuoso consultant. Somehow we were able to book a hotel without giving any contact information? Sure......
The room Our "upgrade" seems more like a downgrade. We are booked Z1 and got placed in C2. A room next to the road, which was great for noise, and facing a wall which made our room devoid of any natural light. And what little maybe we could have gotten would have been at the sacrifice of privacy because so other guests had to walk right past and could look directly. The guest above has been non-stop stomped around beginning at 4am each morning. Nothing, but water and Nespresso. The shower and sink and toilet has mold.
Service We were tired when we got in and called to see if we could request coffee brought to our room. We were informed there was no coffee because the construction and we only had the option of the little Nespresso pods in our room. We inquired if it was possible to have our breakfast delivered in the morning as well, which was not possible, but we could enjoy the European style BUFFET in the designated room. Again, for this price point seems ridiculous. And to top that off, every morning, despite having our "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door, the cleaning staff came knocking at 9:30 each morning.
We have stayed at small boutique hotels in the past and understand limited availability of both room and staff, but for this price point, we should not be made to feel like we are in a budget hotel.

Absolutely stunning property as one would expect from such a fine hotel. Service was impeccable from beginning to end and the grounds/courtyard/covered porches were all great places to spend some quiet time. The property felt like an enclave within the hustle and bustle of Old Charleston. Excellent location allowed for walking to many spots and bikes were available to explore a little further. We'll be back!

Spent three nights at the Zero George boutique hotel in Charleston, SC. From the time we checked in, the staff was always available, professional and attentive. Our room was comfortable and well appointed with customized amenities including complimentary water and beverages. The "O" bar was cozy and operated by a talented mixologist who collaborates with the chef to create exquisitely crafted cocktails. The breakfast offerings were more than adequate, however I would have expected a daily change. Unfortunately we were not able to have dinner at the "O" restaurant as they were closed on Monday. The property only has sixteen rooms, so you always felt like you had the gardens and seating areas to yourself.

PROS: Friendly & upscale service. Enjoyed the wine & cheese hour, especially in the beautiful setting. Breakfast was good enough. Really appreciated being able to use the bikes to explore around town and enjoyed our semi-private veranda. CONS: If you value peace and quiet - DO NOT book an Anson Suite. Although the suite was beautiful - it was incredibly loud as it's right above the restaurant. You'll hear dinner guests and doors slamming (shaking the room) until almost 11 pm and then the staff starts cleaning the utensils which will lead to endless clanging. Even with a noise machine in the room it was disruptive. Then it starts again at 7 am with music from the breakfast service. On top of the noise from the restaurant the noise from the street is also really loud. Bummer that such a beautiful experience was tainted by the disappointing noise. For the amount that people pay to stay in the Anson Suites I'm confused as to how management hasn't worked to improve the noise issues that are within their control. I wish I had read the other reviews from guests with similarly disruptive experiences.

Great hotel, really good location, staff were lovely. The little touches were really appreciated, water, slippers etc in room. We had a veranda which was really lovely and very authentic. We couldn’t get in the restaurant at night as it was fully booked and they wouldn’t even do us a sandwich and us take it to our room otherwise would have rated it 5 stars.

My wife and I came to Charleston for our "babymoon" and are extremely thankful we stayed at Zero George. The hotel is charming and elegant with so many touches of class every where you look. Even though you feel as though you are surrounded by history anywhere you step because of the older buildings and facade there is no shortage of modern amenities in your room or on the property. The hotel is so well centrally located that it made most of our trip walkable even for my 7 month pregnant wife.
The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, especially Mark and Tyler. They made several recommendations for restaurants and activities for my wife and I that did not disappoint. The complimentary breakfast was phenomenal, especially the quiche. The next time I go to Charleston there is no doubt of where I will be resting my head.

I don’t think so. From the airport, we grabbed a cab to the Hotel. When in Charleston, we discovered that local cab companies have been driven out by Uber and Lyft. We used them a few times in town and were satisfied. So, going back to the airport, we took Uber. Next time, I would probably take Uber from the airport as well, although the cab we got at the airport was just fine. Lots of Uber and Lyft drivers in Charleston.
Hi Maryfran4588,
15-20 years ago, the property that is now Zero George used to be a Bed and Breakfast called the Maison du Pre. You should come back and explore the new property!
