My husband and I have stayed at Zero George on several occasions, and our experiences have been remarkable. We have stayed in a variety of rooms, from the smallest to the largest, and each was spacious and beautiful. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, and each building is quaint and picturesque. While the accommodations are stellar, however, it is the staff members who deserve the highest accolades. From arrival to departure, everyone is gracious, helpful, and accommodating. The highlight of each visit, without exception, is the opportunity to enjoy a meal prepared by Chef Vinson Petrillo and his team. We are not foodies; a burger with fries or a great New Haven pizza leave us quite content. Thankfully, you do not need to be a foodie to appreciate the quality, flavor, and artistry of the Zero George tasting menu. It is an experience not to be forgotten - as is the cooking class - and we are already looking forward to our next visit. One final note: Make your reservation for dinner or a cooking class well in advance, as this is a popular destination; there was only one opening left by the time I called.

Hotel's Favorite
We chose Zero George for its small size, beauty, isolated rooms with verandas, strict COVID policy, and location in the historic district. We agree with the positive reviews. Specifically, and to address some reviewers' issues: Contactless entry -- text/email confirmation the day before. Wte were escorted straight to our room and had assistance with our luggage. Immaculate, spacious room. We did bring our own pillows, but only out of personal precaution. Housekeeping is only by request -- not a problem. If we needed something (ice, trashcan emptied, etc.), the response was prompt. We enjoyed having a simple breakfast delivered to the room. Eating on the veranda was a relaxing way to start the day. Guests shouldn't expect an elaborate breakfast menu during these restricted times (though I'd suggest not chilling the waffle syrup). The complimentary wine and charcuterie was also an enjoyable treat late in the afternoon. We grudgingly accepted the valet parking as a part of staying in a city with limited parking areas. We walked everywhere in the historic district (and really appreciated the large umbrellas!). If we needed our car, it was brought promptly -- and the valet wore gloves! The highlight of our stay was the tasting menu dinner with wine pairing -- a birthday indulgence for my husband. We were seated outside on a veranda. The menu is one for those who enjoy small portions of creatively prepared food. Several reviewers mentioned the street noise. Yes, we heard the traffic while sitting outside, but we're used to that from home. I wasn't aware of traffic noise at night in our room. If you are very sensitive to traffic noise, you should request a room farther away from E. Bay St. For us the open layout and privacy of the veranda room was worth it. My only other suggestion would be to provide a brighter reading light. Even on its full setting, the bedside lamp was a bit dim. Perhaps there could be a brighter bulb or a reading light behind the corner chair.

Absolutely exquisite with unmatched attention to detail. The grounds, accommodations, staff are 5 star. Our only issue was our TV did not work for the last day and 1/2 of our stay. Tried to resolve issue immediately but with no success.

Such a quaint little spot. As soon as you entered the gates, you were instantly transported to another time. Very nice touches with personal handwritten notes, homemade breakfasts and wine and cheese delivered to your veranda ... so relaxing. Zero Restaurant, although amazing and eclectic, was the most we've ever spent on dinner, but worth it! My one and only complaint ... my husband and I booked a King Veranda and was upset to learn upon arrival that the verandas are for anyone who is staying at Zero George, not only those who booked rooms with verandas. This includes the verandas right outside your window. We felt as if we had to race to get to use "our" veranda, so not to have anyone sitting outside our window. We feel this should be changed, but that's just our opinion. Overall great experience, we'd go back for sure =)

Dear matthewcR8693IE, I greatly appreciate you for taking the time to write a review of your recent experience at Zero George! So glad to read that you enjoyed the feel of our historic, charming property from the moment you arrived. We strive not to miss even the smallest touches so I'm thrilled you felt that from our handwritten notes to included culinary amenity services. I will happily share your feedback on our shared outdoor spaces with our owners. Please know that we are planning on expanding our outdoor seating areas so that there are more opportunities for our in-house guests to gather in public spaces such as the courtyard, versus the smaller verandas located adjacent to guest rooms. We hope to welcome you back soon so we can show you some of these changes and give you a more private experience! Kindest Regards, Alexandra Dunlop
