Stayed here with family a few days for a wedding because it was close to wedding venue. Pros: - Clean room - Clean gym. Also, has free wired earbuds available. - Clean pool. Has towels available for use in the seating area. Cons: - Location. I'm not familiar with Charleston, but apparently it's near shadier parts of town. Also, gas station and discount liquor store across the street is where several panhandlers like to hang out. We were approached a couple times at night right outside the hotel. Saw an older woman going down the line of cars in the valet area checking door handles. Wish we had stayed further south. (Homeless will be all over Charleston just like any other city, but at least we'd have been within better walking distance of more stuff.) - Parking is valet only and is $30/night per car. On the plus side, it's a gated lot so you don't have to worry about your car getting broken into, but it would have been nice to be able to park ourselves and save that money. - Had one day where room cleaning wasn't done. We had the don't disturb sign on the door until around 5pm when we went out. Got back around midnight-ish and room was still not cleaned. - Pool mostly only 3 ft. Not a big deal and maybe par for the course in downtown Charleston with pools that aren't at ground-level. I don't know.

I’ve always held Holiday Inn to a decent standard. Nothing fancy, but fair and casual. Wouldn’t recommend this place. I don’t usually give bad reviews, but staff pushed. Building and grounds were fabulous. Pool and gym were well maintained. Very clean and remodeled recently. location- decent. Close enough to the scene but also across the street from the hood and lots of homeless people who stand at the corner waiting to panhandle as you pay a parking meter. Parking- $30 for overnight parking without gratuity or ridiculous hours for a parking meter. I wish someone had told me before I booked. Housekeeping- going no where fast. Room was never cleaned before 3:30pm. Maid was super rude when i asked for fresh sheets instead of just bed made. Literally asked me if i had brought my own sheets, then “where did she expect me to get them?” Breakfast- not complimentary unless you book with it. We did, and they added tips to our tab that we didn’t see until check out. I brought this up that we tipped in cash, but the front desk girl insisted we tipped on a receipt.. that we never got...for a complimentary breakfast that we didn’t have to sign a receipt for...

Dear travelinsouth1, We thank you for choosing our Holiday Inn for your trip to Charleston. It saddens us that you were not 100% satisfied with your experience paying for parking and breakfast. Being a full-service hotel, we have a full-service restaurant with freedom to order to your liking from the menu. Parking in Charleston is a tough anywhere, which is why our Valet is the best option for our guests. The Valet Team is great and they take excellent care of our guests and vehicles. Parking with our Valet is safe, secure, accessible 24 hours, and takes away any worry of leaving it on the street or getting a ticket. We offer breakfast packages which will include breakfast, but it will not cover the gratuity for our amazing and hard-working F&B Team. Again, thank you for staying with us. If you would like to discuss any portion of your stay further, please feel free to contact me at the hotel. With highest regards, Tyler Dockery | Assistant General Manager

Great location. I would have preferred a shower. The tub is difficult to get into. This hotel has a good restaurant for breakfast and good parking for handicapped drivers. The bed was very comfortable.

Stayed here for a week for business. The location is great, but note that parking is valet-only and $30/day. Room was clean, and the little patios connected to each room were a nice way to relax. Didn't have issues with noise. Didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment on that. The folks on the valet team were all great, though the front desk staff ran warm or cool depending on the person.

This hotel isn't in the center of the historic district but it's less expensive than those that are, and it's only 1 block from King Street (restaurants/shops) & just a few minute walk to the Visitors Center. We parked in the Visitor’s Center parking lot, which is open 24 hours a day, instead of paying double for the hotel valet service. Although there are free shuttles around town from the Visitor’s Center, we enjoyed walking from the hotel to all the places we wanted to see in the historic district. Our room, on the 4th floor, was clean and quiet. Large bed and clean linen. Good size bathroom and nice shower. Good coffee from the Keurig coffee maker. Pleasant staff. If we are fortunate enough to return to this beautiful city, we’ll happily stay at this Holiday Inn again.
