Fairly standard run of the mill Hampton Inn. Under renovation as of March 2024 so did not stay under normal conditions. Even the parts that were already updated did not seem awesome and my room had an odor and was stuffy. Property seemed safe enough and is close to some restaurants. About 15- 20 minutes from downtown depending on where and traffic. Staff was so friendly!!

Hotel's Favorite
For my first time in Charleston, SC, I stayed at this Hampton Inn & Suites. This is the kind of motel, with its typical level of quality and appointments, that I usually patronize. I had a fine time and certainly would return. I had a comfortable king bed with four soft pillows. The pillows would flatten more than I liked when I rested my head on them. (At home I usually use a medium firm pillow. These were not firm at all.) I slept fine nevertheless. The room had a nice view of the motel's outdoor pool and accompanying palm trees. (Charleston has many palm trees. I did not know this before my visit.) The room had plenty of lights and plugs, an iron and board, TV, fridge, and microwave, and good a/c - though periodically (not mostly, just occasionally) a soft repeating murmur came from the machine. I did not mind it, but I can imagine that some folks would find it annoying. The bathroom had high quality (soft, strong, did not feel like institutional paper) tissues AND toilet paper. (I find it to be rare for a motel to have both nice tissues and nice toilet paper.) There were two soap bars as well as liquid body gel and shampoo. The toilet was fine, though seemed to me to sit a little low. The towels were very comfortable. The shower head was fine, a standard 6-position Waterpik head. But it wasn't special. For me, a special shower head has a setting by which water will be sprayed out of the outer circle of holes AND the inner circle of holes at the same time. This was not that. I had to choose and chose the outer circle. The breakfast (this holiday Monday morning) was fine and included pretty much the standard set of items. The fruit was only oranges (no apples or bananas). I am an orange fan, and ate one; it was a fine-tasting orange. The juice machine was out of apple juice and orange juice though. The attendant apologized for not having the juice and said that more juice would be delivered the next day. I did enjoy my stay, am glad I chose that motel, and would return. From the motel, it's an easy ten-minute drive into Charleston's historic downtown. For me, that was plenty convenient.

The room was very clean and quiet even though renovations were on going. our room was recently renovated and was very comfortable. There is something about Hilton bedding that helps you sleep. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Will stay there again on future trips.

The property is under renovation so there was construction equipment and supplies around. The room we had on the first floor was one that was not yet renovated. It was somewhat worn and had a odor to it. From the condition of our room, I can appreciate the need for the renovation project. However, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good, however, they did not have the usual dark roast coffee that is common at Hilton properties. Check in and check out were smooth and the staff was courteous. We will likely stay again - but hopefully in a refurbished room after the renovation project is completed.

The toilet was stopped up our entire stay. They came and plunged it once but it immediately stopped up again. Then the shower would not drain- we left there with a foot of water stuck in our tub. Funny, but every other time we have stayed here, this has happened. Vintage plumbing? Tired of having to go to lobby bathroom. Despite convenient location, will find another hotel.

GROSS and run down. Beat up, moldy, dirty, smelly. I never walked without shoes in my room. It’s an old hotel in dire need of a renovation or complete demolition. It’s exactly what I think a Red Rood Inn would be like. The clientele had some sketchy groups. Like hourly hotel sketchy. Several odd groups loitering in parking lot. I was worried about my vehicle. The location is also in sketchy. I thought I was going to get mugged when I went to the grocery next door to grab snacks. Will never come here again. I can’t believe this is a Hampton Inn.

This property is in need of renovations. We were in town for a baby shower and to visit family. We reserved a King Suite so we would have comfort when not visiting family. The room was ok, but as seniors we were not told that the room had a shower in a jacuzzi tub. We knew they were fully booked with weddings and teams. As someone with 2 bad knees and shoulders . It was challenging to say the least. The bathroom floor was sticky and had cracked tiles. The suite itself was quiet considering the active groups. After this 2 night stay we will never say yes to no housekeeping. The bed is a issue. Bottom sheet did not fit. ( exposed the mattress while sleeping. ) I went to pull up the top sheet - it was folded in half, laid on top, halfway down the bed under the comforter. I totally remade the bed both nights. ( if you are going to do this type of bedding, do it right- the guests should come first. )

I should have placed more credence in the negative reviews before I booked this place. As others have pointed out this location is: Dirty Dated Rude staff Bugs No cleaning room unless requested. Our last morning, there was roach in the bed. Hilton's policy of not offering room cleaning except on request is shameful. Covid is over people. They don't clean even if requested, which I did upon check-in. What a joke.

When my AC broke in the middle of the night during a heat wave, I called early in the morning on July 4th hoping I could find a room and check in early so that my baby and I could nap in some cool air. Gretta (I believe that was her name) was so kind and helpful and even remembered me and asked if they were able to fix my AC when I was checking out. The ladies who worked that evening at the front desk were also so kind.
