Emeline hotel garners appreciation for its exceptional service and unique, stylish atmosphere, with the staff's friendliness and thoughtful touches like Nespresso machines often highlighted by guests. While some visitors find the rooms on the smaller side and occasionally dark, the hotel's prime location is universally lauded for its easy access to Charleston's offerings.
Opinions on value are mixed, with mentions of amenity fees, but many travelers are enamored with the festive decor and vibrant courtyard despite minor housekeeping lapses.

Hotel's Favorite
Emeline’s impeccable service, convenient location, comfortable and beautiful accommodations…created the ideal travel experience. The valet and luggage staff (Jack, Mark and Jimmy) handled all of our needs with expertise, friendliness and efficiency…on both our arrival and departure days. We were checked in by Nicole who greeted us with warm and gracious hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, will definitely return and highly recommend the hotel to others. The Emeline’s attention to detail, ideal location and attentive, helpful staff provided a first class experience.

Hotel Emeline just became my new favorite hotel hands down. We had the pleasure of staying at Emeline beginning of August 2020. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a beautifully decorated living room, a grand entrance, and their custom scent, all of which are meant to activate all your senses.
The style carried throughout the property is that of a vintage, 1950s/1960s with a modern twist.
The staff is incredible and welcoming and they immediately make you feel at home.
We are a family of four and stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with two king beds and a living room, which housed a Crosley record player, supplied with 3 records, one was a Miles Davis and another had a collection of songs curated for Emeline. I can't remember what the third was.
The beds were extremely comfortable and it was the best night's sleep I'd had in a while (I'm a terrible sleeper). The bathroom is modern with a large shower and great water pressure.
Besides the record player in our room (and also downstairs in the lobby/living room) another favorite feature is the water stations in each floor in front of the elevators. They supply glass bottles which you can fill with either still or sparkling water for free!
At Emeline you will also find Clerks Coffee, a super cute coffee shop where you can get breakfast and great coffee. I had the latte and it was amazing. For dinner, you can dine at Frannie and the Fox, a beautiful but casual restaurant with an Italian inspired menu made with fresh local foods. My boys loved the pizza and I highly recommend the Rigatoni with braised lamb. The crab fritters were really good too.
You can also grab a drink at the bar of Frannie and the Fox or sit on their outdoor patio. This patio has more of a European feel with all white furniture and umbrellas and a huge whitewashed brick fireplace.
The gym is on the 3rd floor and it was impressive! Equipped with 2 treadmills, an elyptical machine, a Peloton bike, a Smith machine and an aqua rowing machine. There's also a myriad of dumbbells, balls, kettle bells and also a water dispenser, bottles to fill, towels and disinfectant spray.
What else can I say other than our experience was so unique and we loved it there so much that we did not want to leave. We felt very safe amid the pandemic. Everyone was wearing their masks and they had tissue boxes all over to use for pressing elevator buttons and for the water stations.
Highly highly recommend if you plan to visit the beautiful city of Charleston.
***I tried adding a lot more photos but the website wouldn't load them for some reason. I will be making a video and posting on my IG [at]pepperedinstyle and my blog pepperedinstyle [dot com]

My husband and I checked out this morning after 3 nights and loved the hotel itself. We stayed in a Collector’s Suite which I believe is the cheapest room that also has a bath tub if you’re traveling with children or have medical needs. The rooms are unique, stylish, and had the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever experienced. There was a living room which included a sofa and table, tv, and a credenza that had a small fridge. There’s also 2 glass water bottles and 2 water stations in the hotel with flat and sparkling water. The master bedroom has a solid wood door to close off the living area which was nice. If you’re traveling with small kids, this is the room I would recommend (we didn’t travel with our 2 this time, but I’m very familiar with all the gear kids require). The record player was a unique charming touch.
We booked the Emeline almost based solely on the patio and fireplace (traveled in early December), and it did not disappoint. Franie and the Fox opens up onto the patio, and the restaurant uses everything in front of the fireplace for restaurant seating. The other side of the fireplace is open to guests with couches, chairs, rocking chairs, and side tables. On a Friday night we had to sit towards the back of the patio as it was busy, but on a Sunday night it was almost empty.
The hotel is in a great location: immediately next door to the Market, able-bodied walking distance to just about everything including the water, Rainbow Row, local and commercial shopping, and more restaurants than you can count. If you or your guests are differently abled, the hotel is accommodating with ramps but exploring Charleston might be a bit challenging with the large oak roots lifting sidewalks and restaurants with long flights of stairs. We ended up driving in at night and had a little bit of difficulty finding the front of the hotel only because Charleston has tight streets and little ambient lighting, and the entrance is right up on the street instead of having a portico.
The only food we had at the hotel was the provolone and green onion biscuit from Clerks which was amazing. I also highly recommend Callies hot biscuits in the Market immediately next door.
The only reason I gave it 1 less star is because of the added expenses we hadn’t fully anticipated, even after we received the confirmation email upon booking. Valet parking is $42 per night (unlimited in and out, but most of Charleston is walkable; street self parking is available), 10% South Carolina state tax, and 4% county tax. All of this together added approx $400 to our stay, which I don’t ever recall being advise about either on their website or via confirmation email. We still loved our stay, and would recommend staying here, just plan accordingly for your visit.

Dear 772catiet - Wow, what a detailed and thoughtful review, thank you! I'm thrilled you enjoyed your accommodations and were able to spend some time lounging and relaxing in the Courtyard. I agree, that biscuit from Clerk's is one of the best I've ever had, and sells out daily! The taxes added to your room rate are required by the state of South Carolina and county of Charleston, and are noted on our confirmation letter. If you booked through one of our travel partners and this information was not clearly stated, please let us know so we can reach out to them and adjust! We aim to be fully transparent with our guests, and while street parking is available Downtown, it is never guaranteed and can be tricky to find - especially on the weekends (I know from experience!) Kind Regards, Carly

From the moment you drive up to the hotel, you are greeted with the warm smile of the valet. Welcoming you to the hotel, they walk you inside to the check in and present you with a special cocktail. The front desk was awesome. Kevin was kind, showed us around and told us about the hotel There is a locally sourced store as well as a very hip bar with elegant furnishing and doors that open wide onto an outdoor space with a beautiful brick fireplace, a perfect addition for a cool Charleston evening. Due to COVID, the hotel has placed tissues at every elevator so that you do not have to touch the buttons for your floor as well as carefully placed hand sanitizer throughout.
The ROOM...just perfect From the stark white subway tiled shower to the black borders and brushed gold faucets along with the shampoos and conditioners and soaps, to the most comfortable bed with fine monogrammed linens to the luscious robes, and great views, you are immediately relaxed. A little book on Charleston is left on the table to peruse while you are staying at the hotel.
The room has 2 glass bottles that you can fill at the elevators with ice cold water and the next morning, you can call downstairs and have a jug of perfectly brewed coffee arrive to your door. The attention to detail is amazing.
We were only at Emeline for one night, but the cleanliness, honest kindness of the staff and amazing location are only a few of the reasons why I will return.

I am so glad I saved this for my last days of vacation. I was really looking forward to The Emeline and it did not disappoint. I checked in late about 7/7:30 and because it was spring break week so the hotel was busy and bustling. Nobody helped me with my lugg, age at the door, but surprise I was upgraded at check in so the over crowding worked to my advantage. I was upgraded to a Masonette room which has an upstairs bedroom and lounge area downstairs. The room has a steamer, record player, fridge and a huge standing shower with a standing mirror in bedroom.
The first night I ate at Fannie and the Fox good was good, but service was slow due to crowds, but they comped my appetizer and dessert. I will say the hotel staff got slammed and they do try to make it right.
Kevin at the front desk was great for tour recommendations and Chase and Josh at the bar are funny and great bartenders. I do hope Chase gets his veritgo checked out.
The hotel location RSDUBK great restaurants in walking distance and Harry's across thr street gas live music nightly. As a solo traveler I couldn't have also for much more.
Enjoy Charleston and be nice to the staff everyone is doing their best under extraordinary circumstances.

Oh my.....how we love this place! Why? Location, location, location, unique with stunning finishes and attention to detail, and world-class service.
We love this boutique hotel's ambiance with its gorgeous color palette, mid-century modern vibe, signature scent, and the WONDERFUL people that work there. We had the pleasure of meeting the hotel manager, Thomas Dippold, and appreciated his time telling us about the hotel's history, success stories, and how much he loved his job.
We asked about the room's paint colors (STUNNING and bold); he gave us his email address with an invitation to request details on any of the finishes, and he would gladly send along. Thomas is an asset to this hotel, and he, the staff, and the beauty of the Emeline guarantee we will be back again and again.
(I do not want to overlook how socially responsible this management team is with Covid. The hotel is maintained in a sanitary manner, customer-friendly signs are posted at the elevators, bar area, etc. Hand sanitizer is visible, and masks are encouraged. All associates wore masks. The housekeeping staff cleaned rooms daily, which is nice, but Thomas said they move swiftly to keep their time spent in rooms to a minimum as a safety measure to their health....thumbs up on this! I am an advocate for taking care of the employees, keeping them healthy and working!)

This hotel has a lot of potential, which is why I give if 4 stars. We have stayed at this location before, several times when it was less expensive under the former owners, but we love the convenience of the locations as everything is a walkable distance. We always request a King room, where this was a real physical change. So take note. If you are running down for. Quick weekend getaway and are therefore bringing just the bare necessities as regards to clothes a standard king will do. However if you are coming for a major event, wedding, grAduation, etc...I would recommend a JR King suite as you will have an extra inch or two of closet space. The hotel is now about 60% suites. The bathrooms have also been updated. However for the standard rooms that meant the room got smaller and in the built in cabinetry there is a closet rod that is only 6 inches. We had to request a room with more closet space so that clothes did not get crushed. Fortunately for us they could oblige and they were very happy to do so.
At the moment they are woefully short staffed, so breakfast is onLy available from the coffee bar, that you could eat there or take back to your room. No lunch, but they do have dinner.
A big plus is that they do have water stations on floors 3-8 so you can refill your water bottles!

I knew I was going to have a great stay as soon as I walked in the door. The interior was crisp, clean, expansive, and inviting. The staff was immediately ready to assist with the check-in process, which didn't take much time at all.
I stayed in one of the Collector’s Suites, which features one comfy king bed, a cozy living room, a Crosley turntable with custom Emeline vinyl, two Smart TVs, and more. Just down the hall was a water station where I had the option of sparkling or flat water to bring back to my room. The Cooper River Bridge was visible out my window, which provided for a nice view.
The lobby level was home to a relaxing common area with music adding to the cozy, but fun vibe of the hotel. There was also a spot to grab gifts, accessories, books, and more. The outdoor courtyard was relaxing and a nice change of pace from the busy street below.
Emeline's restaurant (Frannie & The Fox) and their cafe (Clerks Coffee) were both very good.

What a beautiful brand new boutique hotel in the heart of historic Charleston! From the moment we walked in we felt special. We were given mocktails/cocktails and had a family photo taken upon check in. A surprise awaited us in our suite with a celebration cake for our daughter, a handwritten note and music playing on the record machine. The hotel is stunning with a vintage vibe and luxurious yet relaxed feel. Every detail felt purposeful and thoughtful. We ate some of the best pizza ever at The Frannie and Fox with it’s gorgeous courtyard and savored delicious pastries and coffee at Clerks Coffee Shop. Filtered water with glass bottles are available at the water station on each floor. I am picky about sleeping in hotel beds and these had luxurious linens and the most comfortable mattresses. A gorgeous bathroom complete with a huge shower was something that seems rare in newer hotels but Emeline exceeded my expectations. The staff was beyond friendly, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and like family. A sincere thank you the entire staff for making our trip special, we look forward to coming back again!

We met another couple for a 3 night weekday getaway at Hotel Emeline. The lobby is lovely and the service we received was excellent. We took advantage of happy hour in the courtyard and enjoyed it. We had a room on the first floor with a window to the courtyard. The window was covered with vines to prevent people from peaking in, which we appreciated. However, there was no natural light and the few low voltage lights in the room made it impossible to read. While the bathroom was roomy and well appointed, the room was tight. I even called the front desk to make sure we were in an “Atelier” room instead of a Petit Atelier. I was assured that we were in the Atelier, but I can’t imagine a smaller room with a King bed. Had we upgraded to a suite, our stay would probably been more comfortable, however more expensive.
