Perfect location, in the heart of Downtown. Market across the street, two choices of carriage ride locations around the corner. Walkable to restaurants, shops, etc. Trendy, jazzy type decor in lobby and rooms, which have victrolas and record albums! “Clerks” the best place for a quick breakfast there or to take out. Their restaurant, Frannie and The Fox is bright, cheerful, has a living room type area with couches and cocktail tables near the bar as well as regular seating for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Opens onto an outdoor courtyard with a stone fireplace. Around 200 rooms, so a boutique hotel, not massive which we loved. And the staff!!! All the valet staff were great, but Jimmy in particular went above and beyond. Collected our luggage at the end of our stay, reminding us to take our electronics wires, etc. and loaded our car while we checked out! Always offered us sightseeing tips, and a friendly chat, etc., during our stay. Stand-outs at the restaurant bar were Chase and Elizabeth. Great drink makers, super friendly, warm, funny, offering visitor tips. We miss them! And Kevin at the front desk, who had been super friendly and helpful by phone before we got there and got us a fabulous room when there were some problems with first room we were assigned. We hated to leave and can’t wait to go back!!

Positives. Lovely rooms. Trendy vibe. Great location. Friendly and welcoming staff. The courtyard is super trendy and the food goodish (I would suggest the pizza). Minuses: They were very difficult to correspond with by email. prior to our stay and that was a little frustrating. We were trying to understand our room location and they were very unhelpful. Neutral. We booked two-level rooms off the courtyard. I am not sure if the room layout is particularly efficient but they were good in covid times as they did not involve an elevator or an internal corridor.

Oh my goodness- we totally hit the jackpot on a hidden gem! My original flight to Charleston got flat out cancelled and I was horribly upset trying to rearrange our whole trip to make the new dates work. I am normally an AirBnb girl to avoid cookie cutter hotels, get more privacy, experience the culture, somewhat better pricing, etc. I haven't stayed in a hotel for several years but I'm totally rethinking that now. A cancelled flight does not meet 'extenuating circumstances' on their policy which means you may not get a refund!! Long story short there were no AirBnBs left which I didn't want to chance again to a cancelled flight, and the Emeline was the only hotel apart from the Days Inn. I was so relieved after talking to Alfie who scored me an amazing deal and upgraded us to a suite. We absolutely loved our stay here! Literally steps from the market, adorable in house coffee shop, great restaurant and porch for drinks, and unique place to stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and will probably start going to more boutique hotels again. Thank you SO much Emeline for making my trip happen!
