We just got back from a week long trip to Charleston and can't say enough of this campground and surrounding county park. For a county park it is rather large and very well maintained. It certainly rivals any private campgrounds I've stayed at. The camp store is very nice and stocked with incidentals as well as nice souvenirs. The sites... More

Campground is big, generally well maintained, and accommodates both RV's and tents. The Park is near shopping and restaurants and has a nice dog park, miles of paved bike trails, and many other recreational activities. Great choice for a camping vacation in Charleston.

Big, natural quite campsites, convenient location and just plain beautiful. Biking, boating, fishing, crabing, huge playgrounds, water park, rock climbing wall, dog park and more. This is an excellent place to take the kids. It's a 15-20 minute car ride to Folly beach or downtown Charleston. A great jumping off point for anything you want to do in the greater... More

The cottage was wonderful. We had a big screened porch with a great sunset view of the marshes. It was appointed with everything we needed. I did bring music and my own knives for the kitchen. We rented bicycles, the trails were shaded and wide, with little traffic. The kayaks were fun. You are close to the beach and downtown,... More

Great campground for big rigs as well. Large shaded lots with full hookups. Wonderful bike/ walking path and great water park /pool. Very close to Charleston/Patriots Point. Just note that if you need 14 ft clearance, the short ride before the park entrance can be a little hairy. A little more by the county would be nice!

Our Boy Scout Troop recently stayed here as we visited the Charleston area. Since it is less than 15 minutes from Charleston, it provided the perfect camping location for us. This is a large campground with a variety of sites for RVs as well as a group camping area field with it's own bathroom, which was really nice. The shower... More

We were pleasantly surprised and very impressed with this RV Park/campground/water park. There were so many things to do for all ages. You can rent bikes, visit the splash pad, water park and numerous playground areas. We were specifically impressed with the dog park area -- it was like dog heaven! Plenty of space, a Pond to swim in, water... More

I was very impressed with this park! It was nicely landscaped, large enough playground for numerous kids to enjoy! The water park was a plus. Pavilion & annex was in good condition. Walking trail, pond and bicycle rentals available. I liked how the grills were spaced out so that each family could enjoy themselves. Enough room for kids to play... More

Stayed at primitive campground. Camping area is nice, close to restrooms. Bathrooms are in the main camping area and not far away. Bathrooms were clean. There are lot of activities in the James island county park. Bring your bikes if you have. There are nice bike routes inside the park. 10 minutes far away from Charleston downtown. We will stay if... More

Love this place! Great little trails. Easy hikes, pretty scenery through the marshes, and fun areas for kids. Dog Park there is also AWESOME. Huge and sits on the creek so they can swim. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
