The location alone--within walking distance to almost everything you'd want to do in Charleston--is enough to recommend The Governor's House Inn, but it offers so much more. (Check out the guest photos of the house and its rooms and suites; not enough room here to describe them adequately.) Nor is there enough room to describe the remarkable hospitality provided by...

The Governor's House was a great choice. It is historic and within easy walking distance of attractions in Charleston. We were made to feel quite welcome by both Brian and Terrance. Our room was on the third floor - one of two rooms in the attic. Surprisingly, it was a good size, had 2 wing chairs and a beautiful night...

His services were outstanding. Great restaurants recommendations. Bryant Stewart and Terrence R. cooked us the most delicious breakfast, true southern delights. This is a very nice inn and in a great location which was central but quiet. What made our stay special is the hospitality of the staff. Terrence especially made our stay enjoyable. We stayed in the Kitchen House: the patio for our room was our favorite hangout but the Inn has a large and lovely common porch.

We had a lovely three-day stay at the Governor's Mansion in early April. The breakfasts each day were quite lovely, fresh and uniquely and wonderfully prepared. Because the house is located right in the historical district, we did not need our car to tour every place in the central city. We did go to see the magnificent Middleton Place and...

We truly enjoyed staying at the Governor's House Inn. Our room was cozy with an outside balcony. The bed was extremely comfortable. In the afternoon they have a nice wine and cheese with other assorted snacks set out for the guests. There's also a very complete breakfast in the morning which was delicious. The staff is friendly and the other...

We stayed at the Governor's Inn for four nights the last week of March. Everything was perfect. We were greeted by Bryan who was very professional and friendly. The entire staff made our stay wonderful. In particular, Terrance was professional, friendly, an excellent chef, humorous and a wealth of information. The veranda on the side of the house was very...

From the moment we parked the car in the fabulous courtyard parking (included), the southern charm and hospitality was literally in our face. Immediately, Terrence, quietly strolled out of the main house to greet us. We met Kimberly, Bryan and the welcoming attention was just enough. The Governor's Inn was amazing. I can't say enough about how beautiful and quaint it is with so much charm. It was our first time in Charlestown and we can't wait to get back. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Governor's House Inn offers the rare pleasures, aristocratic comforts and romantic grandeur of a pre-revolutionary National Landmark. We are the only inn in America where you can sleep where a signer of the Declaration of Independence once lived. With magnificent drawing rooms, boudoir staterooms, and expansive veranda porches, it is no wonder that the former Governor's mansion was proclaimed the most glamorous of Charleston inns by Travel Holiday. ... more   less
