We really enjoyed our stay at Planter's Inn. The location couldn't be better (right in the middle of all the interesting things to see and experience, particularly the city market), the hotel staff was amazing, we were treated like royalty, and the food/drink attached to the hotel was wonderful. Can't say enough about this property. Top-notch.

Great location with easy walking access to historic downtown Charleston. An elegant old hotel with great history, top notch service and fantastic food. We stayed in the Govenor's Suite and found it to be a large, very comfortable and almost sound proof room. Don't miss a chance to eat at Peninsula Grill while you are there for fantastic food and a nice selection of wines and liquors.

When we travel we look to book hotels that are affiliated with Relais Chataux and The Planters Inn does not reflect the high level of service, elegance and overall hospitality that we have experienced all over the world. The front desk staff was poorly trained, there was a lack of service from the start - no one escorted us to our rooms and provided us with a welcome. The rooms are tired and dusty. There was a pile of dirty towels outside our room for the first afternoon we were there. The library was constantly filled with dirty glasses and garbage which we had to clean up ourselves on numerous occasions to use the space. The TV did not work the majority of the stay and we were provided with different reasons each time we asked the front desk. We asked to have our bill prepared for check out when we were returning from dinner which they agreed to do and when we returned the desk was empty and there was no staff present. Again, Relais Chateau is a brand that is synonymous with elegance, fantastic service and sophistication which is completely lacking at The Planters Inn.

Perfect location and very serene atmosphere. However if you’re booking a room, make sure you don’t get 224 (and I would imagine 324). That room faces the elevator which makes it hard to enjoy the view while sitting right outside the room! Description online is a bit misleading.

Dear Laetitia A, Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback so we can improve in the future with yourself and other guests. While it's amazing to hear you did love our property and location, we are disheartened to know we fell short in another aspect of your stay. We will definitely look into those areas that we did not meet expectations, especially online being a little misleading. We truly hope you stay with us in the future and give us a chance to make all aspects of your stay perfect. Regards, Colleen

Our Governor’s suite did not have any windows in the living room and two very high windows above our head in the bedroom. It did not look like the photo of the room we booked. It was quaint and nicely decorated but a bit musty. Two full bathrooms was a surprise and a nice extra. We only spent one night and felt overall the experience was very good. The Peninsula Grill for dinner was very enjoyable. The price for a full living room in addition to the bedroom was a much better deal than other 5 star hotels I considered. There is only one elevator and it was very slow. It is an older hotel with charm. We would return.

Dear cindymV2176DZ, We greatly appreciate you taking the time to give us some feedback on your stay. It looks like we fell short in some areas to which we greatly apologize. We will absolutely look into the photo not reflecting the room you booked, as we do not want that experience with any of our guests. We are however so happy to hear that you did enjoy a lot of other features of our hotel including our on site restaurant, The Peninsula Grill. We look forward to your next stay with us. Regards, Colleen

We spent our anniversary in Charleston. The Planters Inn was the perfect location as well as being a fabulous hotel. The secret food tour gave us a great introduction to Charleston. We then took the 2 sisters tour south of Broad Street. That was absolutely incredible. Mary Helen has an intimate relationship with the City, having grown up here. She had an incredible amount of historical knowledge of the city. We walked everywhere. Had delicious meals at 82 Queen, Queology, Husk, we had lunch at Magnolia and loved it so much that we went back another night for dinner. All in all a wonderful trip. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at the Planters Inn. I needed special accommodations due to a physical disability and the staff at the inn was so gracious and helped me thoroughly. We were immediately greeted at the curb by the hotel bell captain, Cole, who was friendly and helpful during our stay. The hotel management, i.e Banks, Reservations director and Larissa, Restaurant hostess did everything to make our stay lovely. The staff at the front desk, i.e. Laura, Jim, and Colleen, were always happy to provide assistance. The concierge Karin was knowledgeable and helpful with sights to see and restaurants. The room (suite) was spacious and more than comfortable. The bed is high but they provide a step to get in. Great mattress and shower. We had breakfast, i.e. room service daily and it was always freshly made, delicious and served on time! The staff delivering breakfast and servicing the room was gracious and friendly. The restaurant was excellent with an upscale menu and service staff attentive to every request. The hotel staff learns quickly about their guests’ needs and attends to details. This historical inn is in the middle of Charleston with easy access to everything in town. We stayed there for a week and happy we chose the Planters Inn as a special place to stay in Charleston.

Location and staff are great. Everything else is a rip-off. There are many choices in Charleston, I would not recommend the Planters Inn. The rooms are not reflective of the price charged. This property needs to do a review of its offering.
