Our stay was wonderful! This hotel is in the middle of everything and our room and service was exceptional! Concierge Juan went out of his way to make our stay a memorable one. When we arrived to our room we found flowers, Prosecco and a slice of Charleston’s favorite coconut cake waiting, thanks to Juan! The penthouse room was magnificent, with a fireplace (we just had to enjoy it so we just turned down the A/C:), exquisite bathroom and a private terrace. Our expectations were certainly exceeded!!
From the moment we arrive, the staff is very attentive, helpful, and happy to see us. The rooms are always meticulously clean and lovely. Dinner at Peninsula Grill is always perfect. Even in this Covid environment, we felt very safe, and the staff took every precaution to keep us safe. Room service breakfast was quick and absolutely delicious! We have never had a less than perfect experience at Planter’s Inn!
I checked in after booking the Piazza King, expecting a “sweeping view of a blissful terrace”. I’ve attached the views from the window and from the front of the room. Can’t say that either of these views are “sweeping” or blissful. Front desk service was terrible. I’m in the service business… And I would give this hotel a 2 out of 10. The porter helped with my bags and car, but when they moved me to a different room (still subpar), the manager asked if I needed help with my bags but should have helped regardless of my answer. When I approached him that I was still not satisfied with the room, he walked me to the terrace and said that was the courtyard. The website is tricky and completely misleading. Do not expect white glove service when coming here… nor should you expect any kind of service or blissful view. I will not be returning and I will certainly share to everyone I know that Planters Inn is NOT the place to stay in Charleston. I was coming to Charleston for a romantic getaway and got a room at a hotel that’s not much better than staying at a Holiday Inn. Do your research before booking.…
Planter’s Inn has been our go to hotel on several visits to Charleston & this time did not disappoint. Entire staff was warm, friendly & completely accommodating. Had famous coconut cake DAILY! Though I’m confident all guests get similar treatment, we were made to feel like the hotel’s “special guests” throughout our stay. Well done & we will be back.
At 10:02 am, 2 minutes after the close of room service breakfast, management refused to provide room service breakfast to our suite - the Governor's Suite. given what we are paying for this suite, we would have expected better accommodation from a Relais and Chateau property. Truly not a luxury experience. This indifference to the convenience of guests was consistent with our check-in experience. Incorrect information and long waits for answers. The check-in person could not even mark the hotel map or tell us where to go for shopping (there was a concierge, but he was busy offering a class to others in the lobby when we checked in). The housekeepers do not speak English and have no idea what you are saying. One showed up two hours before our checkout time to ask if we wanted the room cleaned. Another offered packaged water as we were dressing for dinner and did not understand that we were asking her to return after we finished dressing for dinner. The dinner at The Peninsula Restaurant, however, was superb. The best foie gras and lamb loin we have ever had!…
This is the first place for us to want to stay in Charleston. e truly felt like you were in a luxe Charelston home when in the room. The service was excellent from the footmen/bellhops. The front desk/management worked diligently and timely in correcting a billing error we discovered. The room was simply a beautifully appointed suite and the bathroom very ample. Simply wonderful attention for my birthday and as a place to stay. A Charleston must!
Graciously appointed and so very comfortable. We cannot praise this property enough. They’re doing everything right with spacious rooms, elegant dining and a poetic courtyard. We will return to Charleston and Planters Inn is the reason.
Classic, smaller hotel with spacious rooms. Excellent service from the time we arrived, until we left. The location is great and close to everything. Book ahead for the restaurant and treat yourself to a slice of the coconut cake. We hope to return again soon, thank you for everything.
Awesome hotel. Clean, spacious room. Perfect location in Charleston such that we walked to all restaurants. The staff was super friendly. The restaurant (Peninsula Grille) was insanely delicious. Would absolutely recommend it.
Very well maintained property, comfort, staff was helpful. The only downside with an older hotel is the retrofitting for HVAC. If you are a light sleeper the AC fan is very loud and you may have a problem.
