    Love the Vibe
The Vendue is a super fun hotel in a fantastic location. Love the vibe. I chose it because 1) it is situated in the heart of Charleston, and 2) it takes pets. We greatly enjoyed our stay at this hotel – they do a great job plying guests with snacks – complimentary wine/happy hour, complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary late night chocolate chip cookies and milk. What’s not to love? Rooms are fun and distinctive, and the lobby, with all sorts of edgy art, pops. The only snafu – and this is a common occurrence, unfortunately - is that when I called to confirm the hotel takes pets I was told the pet fee is $85. Then when I arrived I was told the fee is $95. The hotel clerk did not adjust the fee, and so the check in experience started on a sour note. Honestly $10 is not a big deal, especially given the price point of this hotel – just get your pet fee structure straight/make it consistent. Other than that glitch, we had a fab time. Note that because this hotel is in downtown Charleston some rooms are a bit loud given their proximity to street noise. This is to be expected! Unrelated dining tip - If you are looking for fantastic BBQ go to Lewis Barbecue - they elevate the form.

    A pleasant surprise !!!
My wife and I were greeted curbside by Mark who is an outstanding bellman at The Vendue. He secured our bags, served us champagne and gave us a tour of the hotel while we waited for our room to be ready. Our room on the third floor was large, clean and very comfortable. The rooftop bar was a neat place for our small group to meet for drinks and snacks in the afternoon, as was the hotel bar area where a very nice complimentary continental breakfast was served each morning. We ate at Rerival the first evening and both the food, and the service by John, were outstanding. The hotel also gives the guest a $25 daily credit for food and drinks. So use it, or lose it !!! The hotel has beautiful artwork displayed on the walls of every floor, and in the guest rooms. Complimentary wine and hors d’oerves are served every afternoon, and Charlotte, the art docent, conducts an informative art tour of the hotel. Milk and cookies appear at 9:00 pm. The hotel is convenient to taking a walk to the water, to restaurants, to art galleries and to shopping. We could not have made a better choice of hotels, and will return to The Vendue on our next visit to Charleston.

Great Location , historic feel But.........
This hotel isn't for anyone who has difficulty walking . The uneven flooring in the bedrooms could be a slip hazard. Also , there are no knobs on the bathroom vanity so very difficult to open to retrieve the hair dryer. Our toilet ran constantly. We had someone come and look at it but it wasn't fixed. The toilet seat was a size to small for the toilet so swerved every time that you sat on it. Breakfast was included but every morning they ran out of hot water and tea. There were good things too. The wait staff was very nice and the valets. They called you by name and were very pleasant. The idea of the art talk was nice. Wine and appetizers were served. They had a musician one night that was excellent.

The Vendue is quiet. comfortable, sophisticated and the perfect location to walk the city. Whatever we needed, they provided. Dinner reservations, no problem. Transportation, done. It’s a beautiful old building in the historic area that has been beautifully transformed into a sophisticated boutique hotel. The lobby is literally an art gallery. Barbara, the curator, does a tour & lecture daily. She made the art come alive. The rooftop bar is not to be missed. Best view of this beautiful city of Charleston. My husband & I visit our son twice / year and we always stay at The Vendue. Highly recommend

The room was great and the staff could not have been nicer! We had a corner room facing East Bay. I was worried it would be too loud but everything settled down by 11 of 12:pm. Perfectly located for restaurants and shops. The art on the first floor was really interesting.

We couldn’t have been more pleased! Upon check in, we were offered a glass of champagne and set out to check out the hotel. I must say it was the most unique hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The artwork was fantastic. There is an artist resident, an artist reception, cookies, and milk at night And most wonderful experience ever. Our room was roomy and bright and clean and we had a great time.

Not sure that I get the hype. It wasn't bad. The room was clean, good amount of space, comfortable bed and bathroom. But it felt way overrated and WAY overpriced for what you get. The majority of the staff (aside from a couple friendly bell hops) acted like they were confused why I was in their lobby or outright ignored me as I walked toward them and made eye contact (I was staying in a room for three nights so I was a paying guest). When I was in the art gallery lobby I felt uncomfortably unwelcome. The rooftop bar... trying to find the right words... felt like a touristy beach shack. I wore a nice sundress and sandals and felt uncomfortably overdressed even though it was advertised as a chic rooftop cocktail bar. Overall, I would say that it was a very uncomfortable stay even if the rooms are nice and as described. This felt like an amateur's attempt at a posh art hotel.

Beautiful, boutique art hotel, perfect location at East Bay and Queen. Walkable to everything. The staff at the hotel made our stay exquisite— especially Brian who literally walked us around the corner for breakfast and introduced us to the cafe owner. WOW. Quirky, fun choices make this hotel truly unique. Will be back for sure!

From the moment we pulled up to the hotel I felt like a princess. My husband and I were greeted with champagne and learned about all the amazing perks when staying at hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail hour and gallery tour hosted by Brian. Sunset on the rooftop bar was stunning. We couldn’t resist the fresh hot cookies before heading to our room. The room was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. The baked goods at our door in the morning were delicious. All the staff members were super friendly. It was a one of a kind experience. Thank you Vendue!
