The Vendue is an art gallery where it just so happens you can spend the night. It’s a treasure trove of surprises and a hotspot of good energy. Where excitement meets warmth and entertainment. It's a playground of intrigue, a stage for serendipity, and a celebration of the unconventional. Just across the street, The Enclave at The Vendue offers a captivating counterpoint. The Enclave extends an atmosphere of privacy, enriched by exclusive amenities, cultivating an atmosphere and aesthetic distinctly different from The Vendue’s vibrant pulse. Whether you're seeking a whirlwind of energetic delight or a more laidback respite, this hôtel des arts offers a tailored experience that hits the right note. Get ready to savor the art of choice and the thrill of diversity. That's The Vendue way, always in good spirits, and forever ready to delight!

The Vendue, Charleston's Art Hotel, is lauded for its pristine cleanliness and a prime location that puts guests steps away from the bay and local attractions. While opinions on value are divided, with some guests finding the beds uncomfortable and noting additional fees, many are charmed by the hotel's artful atmosphere and the warm service provided by dedicated staff. The rooms are well-received for their stylish comfort, and the rooftop bar along with unique art offerings add to the hotel's appeal, despite some remarks about noise and the need for minor enhancements.

For panache and pretense, albeit for reviews below the best of Charleston, South Carolina's's finer hotels, assessing The Vendue-- two linked but quite different hotels--takes some restraint. At around $200 a night, for example, The Vendue doesn't do breakfast. "Breakfast" arrived in a paper bag hung on our doorknob around 7 AM. For the two of us, the bog contained one mini croissant, two mini buns , one apple, one banana, and coffee we brewed in a Keurigonce we figured it out. The next morning we ventured a couple of blocks along King Street to Miller's All Day restaurant for real breakfast--a big Avocado BLT and Lobster Fries, about $20 each. For lunch and dinner The Venue compensates with two classy restaurants, one a big rooftop overlooking the Charleston Waterfront, and the other in the core of the bustling 18th Century streets downtown.
To its credit, the welcome at The Vendue is extraordinarily. gracious and competent. Three or four discreet uninformed successors of earlier generations' bellhops circulate, watching for new guests, checking them in, taking their bags and unloading and parking their cars. The reception area, rather than one big room, is spread among smaller nooks where guests and visitors chat or await rides. Management has added one other touch that might impress guests. It deems the reception area, indeed all the 84 bedrooms, a museum--"Charleston's Art Museum"--the Web site contends, a designation that only The Venue asserts
The claim might not, however, be all that persuasive. It is rooted in the hotel's current decorating preference that every room, every Keurig coffee pot, every wall and objet d'art be pristine white or candy cane red. This might make it someone's fine art. But my wife and my preferences in art, unschooled as they are, do not often encompass candy cane red. Red-framed, glued down windows stood out in our bath, our biggest, whitest, nicest space, would not open. No windows open.
Many of The Vendue's special touches can be praised. But one cannot be. Both sides of 19 Vendue Range, have free parking for eight or ten cars, those of the 84 rooms' guests. A few are marked "Valet" for guests presumably checking in. About half a block away is a garage for guests' cars. Above the room rate, the parking costs $49 a night. One day it took half an hour for an attendant to retrieve our car from the garage. Unticketed, we took a valet-marked space our last night.

Dear ChevyChaseOne, Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback regarding your recent stay. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed various aspects of your experience with us and truly value your insights on areas where we can improve. We understand that the unique style of The Vendue may not align with everyone’s preferences. For your next visit, we invite you to explore The Enclave, a charming extension of The Vendue located just across the street. With its exposed brick walls and intimate atmosphere, it offers a distinct ambiance that might resonate more with your artist's eye. We look forward to welcoming you back and providing an experience even more tailored to your taste. Warm Regards, Georgia

During the snowstorm, I stayed in Room 103 at The Vendue Art Hotel, and it was an incredible experience. Despite the city shutting down, the team went above and beyond to care for guests. Breakfast bags were thoughtfully prepared, a stunning guest-only buffet was organized, and Revival opened for lunch despite normally being closed.

The staff were exceptional—Justin, the restaurant GM, and Chef Isaac crafted amazing dishes, while Vic, our server, kept the energy lively. Carley, the hotel GM, was delightful to chat with, and experience managers Cameron and Jesicca were helpful and kind, with Jesicca resolving any issues effortlessly. Nicholas brought an infectious positivity and creative touches like mulled wine to keep spirits high.

The Vendue turned a challenging situation into a magical stay with unmatched dedication and creativity. Highly recommend!

My husband and I just came back from a 3 night stay at The Enclave at the Vendue. Its located in the French Quarter of Charleston right by the water which is fabulous as you can take a leisurely walk along the pier and walkway there. The rooms are nicely decorated and they leave French pastries by your door every morning at 7:30am which is a nice touch. I'd love to see them have a small breakfast area where you could go to eat as I am not much for breakfast in bed but I think space is the issue there. The people at the front desk were always warm and smiling. The one area that could use a little more attention would be housekeeping. Its a bit spotty as far as being consistent. I think we missed turn down service one night - maybe we were in the room to late? We did enjoy the rooftop bar on the other side of the Vendue at night. Lovely place to grab a drink or two!! Overall, we enjoyed a great stay at a great value and I would recommend people to stay here.

My grown daughter and I felt so spoiled by The Enclave at The Vendue. We drank champagne, enjoyed fresh cookies and daily pastries, lounged in our robes and had our room tidely cleaned every day. One day we napped mid-day then went to dinner. Upon returning our bed was made again! The staff who greeted us every time we returned made us feel like we had our own personal butler. The Vendue goes to such great length on all the details! After debating where to stay, we were 110% satisfied we’d picked The Enclave both because the hotel was so fabulous, it also the location turned out to be our favorite area of the peninsula. For context, we stayed in the cheapest room available and were still treated like royalty. You won’t be sorry you stay at the Enclave or Vendue!

Our stay at The Enclave at Vendue was pleasant overall, though it did have a few drawbacks. The rooms are beginning to show some wear and could benefit from a refresh to match the otherwise charming ambiance of the hotel.

The staff truly made the experience memorable. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, ensuring we felt welcome throughout our visit. A highlight was Dennille. She was a delight, greeting us with a warm smile every morning. Her enthusiasm added a personal touch that we greatly appreciated.

The bagged continental breakfast, delivered early each morning, was convenient and well-organized, making it easy to grab a bite before heading out. I wish there was an option to refuse delivery because we had a large bag of uneaten fruit and several muffins by the end of our stay. Additional perks included the art tour/wine social, the daily coffee bar, and the weekend champagne. Once again we were always greeted with big smiles and enthusiasm.

With a few updates to the rooms, this property could easily be a standout in Charleston. For now, the exceptional staff and thoughtful extras like the never ending snacks and art experiences make it worth a visit.

Our experience was over the top made possible by the very thoughtful management and staff. We were offered Champagne upon arrival, Sherry and Pastries during the day, Milk and cookies at night, and Freshly baked pastries and jellies every morning brought to our room. They even filled our ice bucket every night with freshly baked macarons. We were blown away ❤️

I decided to book last minute after being in town for my grandmother’s funeral and to make something positive out of the trip. From the moment I walked in Cameron and the valet made me feel welcome and took care of everything and made it a seamless and enjoyable experience.

The champagne in the gallery upon arrival is a nice touch and I enjoyed the variety of art and the two onsite restaurants. The food and the view from the rooftop bar were quite good as well! But it’s the exceptional staff (including Cameron and Nicholas, valet and rooftop bar staff) and touches like the complimentary breakfast bag of mini croissants, muffins and fresh fruit that led me to extend my stay an additional night.

This charming hotel is also in an excellent location by the bay and waterfront park and across the street is a cute pub and great boutique and within walking distance are local art galleries worth checking out like the Gordon Wheeler Gallery and the free city gallery by the Bay and also great restaurants like the Habit. King Street is just a couple of streets down as well and the hotel’s complimentary bikes make it easy to get around. I was solo and felt really safe in the area and had no problems.

Let me first say this is a cool hotel in an awesome location to shops, restaurants, etc. We got the king size room/bed and it was comfortable. Very clean and spacious. They offer fruit, croissants and muffins in the morning, delivering them to your room. It would have been nice to have a fridge or an ice maker close by.

The service/staff were top notch. If there was an issue, they quickly responded. Always professional and friendly.

The cons—hot water. I rarely got a hot shower. They offered to put us in another room but it was late and we didn’t want to move. The maintenance guy checked it out and said it took just 1 minute for hot water. That was a lie as I timed it on my phone, close to 7 minutes for hot water. The day before it was over 10 minutes to get hot water. For the price per day, we should have been told to expect that. Very disappointing.

Be prepared to pay $49 a day for Valet parking. You can do public parking cheaper but the convenience to come and go made us use valet.

Overall we were happy with our stay as the little things mean a lot to me. Just disappointed how the hot water issue was handled.

Hello Rebecca, thank you for your response, I am glad that you enjoyed the location and our staff, while I am sad to hear about the the hot water situation and I shall address it to our team, We had low occupancy and that's the reason the water took a little bit more to heat up, again I sincerely apologies for the inconvenience and I hope you give us one more chance to impress you.

This hotel surpassed expectations and exceeded the mark in all categories. It was a super unique vibe with the art deco theme being carried though out the lobby and rooms. The staff were all attentive and helpful and always available. The room was clean and well appointed with a Keurig, soaps and lotions, a hair dryer, robes and amenities I would expect to find in a high end property. The location is perfect for those looking to explore the downtown area - easy walk to all the things one would want to do in town. Extras like the wine happy hour and cookies, bikes and morning breakfast delivered to room were amazing. I highly recommend and will certainly choose this property for any future stays.

Great hotel in perfect location, we walked everywhere. No need for a car. We had a premier king room which was very spacious and well appointed. There was even a fireplace. The bathroom shower was large with two rain style shower heads. They had turn down service, cleaned the room daily and delivered a complimentary French-style breakfast to the room daily. There was also amazing artwork to see with a tour every day at 5. We will definitely stay here again.
