Moved here after staying an another hotel. In town on business for three nights. This amazing little gem is a joy to stay at. So much character, great staff, and very comfortable beds. Wine and cheese reception every night is great. Location can't be beat - you're right around the corner from some great restaurants. Internet speed was good, but...

We chose this inn because of the location, and it was indeed in the center of everything. We walked everywhere in downtown Charleston. The gas fireplace in our room (#604) was so welcome after walking all day in the cold and wet! Other reviewers wrote negatively about cleanliness or noise, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. The...

We stayed 4 nights on our first trip to Charleston. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The decor is updated but pure vintage Charleston. Rooms were a bit all however a plus is that the bathroom was updated to the point that it seemed new. We were able to walk everywhere with no problem. An overall great experience

We stayed for four nights. We were staying with friends in Charleston and thought a few nights in downtown Charleston would be good. As walk ins we were welcomed and given a super room on King Street with a fireplace - not needed - weather was perfect for exploring the wonderful historic district and museum houses and shops and restaurants....

My husband and I stayed for two nights. It was a charming hotel in the heart of Charleston. I loved being near the best shoppes, restaurants, and historic homes. The water is a few blocks away as well. The staff was very friendly and the hotel had a complimentary breakfast & happy hour. I loved the two courtyards, open to...

We stayed here for four nights and it was a generally great property. Good: -lovely room ambiance, a lot of space for a Charleston B&B -fabulous location in the heart of historic downtown Needs Improvement: -Guest Service: they were not very friendly or welcoming, which is an anomaly in Charleston; for example, they allowed my very well behaved dog to...

We stayed here for three nights and it was a great location for everything we wanted to do in Charleston. We walked to everything including dinner. The rooms were nice and clean. I got the impression from other posts that parking was not as close but in fact it is right behind the hotel and very convenient.

This small hotel is run by very nice staff and is conveniently located. There are two interior courtyards that are pleasant, and an external courtyard adjacent to the parking lot which is screened by a high wall, is pleasant, but seems little used. We were with a small group of close friends. The couple that set up the trip used...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. ... more   less
