About
Description
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with More unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. Less

Excellent location for exploring inner Charleston. Loved the included in-room breakfasts. Beautiful old-world charm. Staff very hospitable. Not very easy to find the parking so be clear on the directions as one-way streets make the GPS problematic.

This was our first visit to Charleston, and hopefully won't be our last. We chose Kings Courtyard Inn for several reasons: it's centrally located, the price is reasonable (for Charleston), and we were looking for a place that had a local charm. The staff is friendly and helpful

During our first trip to Charleston, I wanted to find a quaint inn in the heart of the historic district to stay in. I definitely found that in the Kings Courtyard Inn! A lovely, relatively small inn with several courtyards within the center. Upon coming through the door on Ki

Could you provide more info on the pet friendly room you had? I understand the pet friendly rooms are set off from the main Inn. Thanks!
I don't have a comparison, as far as what the other rooms look like, but the room we stayed in was nice. It has an old historic feel, with original hardwoods but the bathroom was nicely renovated with a roomy shower. They are no more than 5 or 10 steps from the main building. You will not feel isolated at all.

Hi, William. What would you like to know about this accommodation? How was the pet friendly room? Do you know if they are greatly different from the Inn rooms? I understand the pet friendly rooms are separate from the inn. Most pet friendly rooms in hotels are not the most inviting; is this the exception to the rule? We are staying there for Christmas and the pet friendly room issue was my only hesitation booking here. Would appreciate any feedback! Thanks!
Flobow have you had any luck with pet friendly info? I travel with my small dog and usually stay at the sister Inn, John Rutledge House Inn. I can attest their pet friendly rooms are terrific. I’m just looking to stay someplace different in April when I visit Charleston.

We are cruising from Port Charleston after we check out of the hotel on 10/24. Possible to leave our car in your lot for 5 days? If yes, what are the options for transportation to the port & return to our car when we disembark? Or better to park at the port?
Where is the parking?
Thank you for your inquiry. Off-street parking located behind the inn in the Market Horelbeck Lot at 131 Market Street. The cost for parking is $14 per evening. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

trying to figure out your "noisemaker" comment could you explain? thanks
Our hotel is located in the heart of Charleston, so our guests occasionally experience some city noise. If you are a light sleeper, we recommend asking for a room that is not on King Street. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

"Room 604 which was actually on the third floor was quiet and there is an elevator."
"Some of the queen rooms have working gas log fireplaces. Some of the king rooms have Juliet balconies."
"Interior rooms overlooking the courtyard are likely quieter than those looking onto King street."
"We loved the room's view of King Street, with the fantastic antique store, across the street."
"#302 is a lovely corner room facing the back of the building with 4 windows but thoughtful blinds and room darkening shades!!"
