Detailed Reviews
My husband and I often visit Charleston for a few days on our way to Florida. This was our third visit to this beautiful and charming place.
This year we decided to try a boutique hotel instead of a larger chain hotel and were very happy we did. The Andrew Pinckney Inn in the heart of downtown Charleston was a wonderful choice. You can walk to restaurants and shops and there are many places to sightsee.
The Inn exudes charm and the lovely staff are so accommodating. This time of year is a great time to visit because rates are low and restaurants less crowded.
Included in your room rate is a great breakfast buffet and a complimentary wine and cheese reception upstairs in their atrium every day from 4:00 to 5:00. After spending the day sightseeing, it was such a treat to have a few glasses of wine and some delicious cheeses and fresh fruits. There are also the most delicious home made cookies in the lobby to temp you every day.
The king bedroom we stayed in was well designed and had a huge full length mirror next to a desk. The bathroom had multiple open shelving with an abundance of space for toiletries. The large mirror above the sink had wonderful lighting surrounding the entire mirror for applying makeup.
We will definitely stay there again when we return to beautiful Charleston.

The inn has done a great job with the way they're handling COVID. They're still providing all of the nice things they offer, but just in a different manner. I appreciated the fact that they have lowered their parking by $10.00 because it's now self-park due to the virus. Instead of the breakfast buffet, they offer a breakfast menu that you complete the night before and breakfast is then delivered to your door the next morning. The afternoon reception is still offered in the solarium. The charcuterie/cheese board is wrapped and wine poured by a staff member. The tables are spaced far enough to practice social distancing. Daily housekeeping is not offered at this time, but it wasn't a problem for us. They provided small trash bags and we would just place the previous days trash in the hallway which was immediately picked up.
We stayed in the Cotesworth Suite which was very nice. Has a huge bathroom as well as a huge shower! Renovations were going on a couple of years ago when we were there and I have to say, they've done a beautiful job. It's in a great location...we walked everywhere. Would highly recommend staying here.

Stayed in two rooms as moved after my first night. I must save, great little hideaway hotel. The GM, Ryan, is a great guy - not just good at his job - but sincerely a solid guy, southern friendly and respectful and really does want to make the stay as great as possible. Despite putting his back out, he was covering for another employee who had surgery so that she could ease back in.. and taking her share of the shifts despite being the GM! He went above and beyond not just for me but for everyone. One guest and her husband brought him a bottle of wine as they were leaving just for being him. The location is superb, the amenities are perfect, and the friendliness of all the staff really makes the spot shine. It is not an overstatement to say that the hotel/staff made the Charleston trip itself rise from being fine to exceptional. Not a better location in Charleston.. on the doorstep of all the best restaurants on East Bay Street. Really, depending on rate, a great spot and staff.
Another hotel? no way. I owe them a debt of gratitude for the treatment and attentiveness. Also, the cleaning staff took close care to make sure that everything was well sanitized and sterilized everything - I even noticed them wiping down the outside of the doors as I entered my room. The breakfast is amazing and you pick among a variety of items. I will be staying with them the next trip, undoubtedly.

Our recent stay at the Andrew Pinckney Inn was more than we expected. We booked the Cotesworth Suite which was located on the 4th floor near the rooftop solarium in the building across from where you check in. The room was beautiful and we loved being so close to the solarium where we enjoyed our breakfast (pre-ordered and safely packaged due to COVID restrictions) each morning. The hotel location was great and we were able to walk and really take in all that the historic downtown area had to offer including some incredible restaurants. It also was very convenient for heading to Folly Beach or Kiawah Island for the day. Every staff member that we encountered was very attentive, friendly and just amazing. We will look forward to returning again and will definitely be staying at this location.

My daughter and I recently had a fantastic 4 night girls get away at the Andrew Pinckney inn. The hospitality began even before our arrival as I inquired with Barry, the GM, about what procedures were in place to keep guests safe during these crazy covid times. Barry was kind to explain the enhanced cleaning procedures set in place and we found this to be true upon arrival. Prior to arrival, Barry made recommendations for places to eat and even gave the name of a fantastic driver from the airport to the Inn. The staff was always friendly and helpful to answer questions. The Breakfast included was very good and the process set in place for ordering the night before convenient. We enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese reception in the covered balcony. It was a great way to sit, relax and just have time to enjoy. The Inn was in a perfect location within an easy walk to all the sites in the area. It was so nice to come back to the Inn in the middle of the day to cool off from the hot and humid Aug weather before recharging for the night. I would not hesitate to stay here again and have recommended to friends. Thank you to all the staff at the AP Inn. You do a great job in making guests feel welcome and thank you housekeeping for the hard work you do in keeping the Inn neat and clean.

Eight of us arrived to celebrate my "birthday"! The staff was willing to help make it memorable in every way. They were interested, engaged and exceptionally attentive and added value to the event. Staff at every level was helpful and willing to assist.
The breakfast and wine and cheese event each day were exceptional when compared to the majority in the hospitality industry. The breakfast included hot and cold items. The cheese and wine included a variety of cheeses and crackers, salami rollups, olives, etc.
Our rooms were lovely with nice toiletries, robes, single serving coffee makers, and safes in the queen or king rooms. The hotel has been recently renovated with all the modern design and facilities yet it still felt historical.
The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the market, historical residential area, shopping and lots of restaurants.
I cannot say enough nice things about the staff that made the trip memorable!

I recently stayed in this hotel and on the positive side, the location is great and the Inn is charming. I barely slept though!!! Starting at 5am the service vehicles start up. I’m assuming we were also in a room that was below the housekeeping area because there was continual stomping around, vacuuming, elevator going, etc... finally started to doze again when there a loud knock announcing breakfast. They decided to drop it off early. Then a few minutes later another loud knock. Housekeeping. It wasn’t even 9am yet! There was no Do Not Disturb sign. At this point I give up and open the bag of breakfast which looked like it had been procured from a gas station. Decided to ditch the breakfast and just leave. Thank god I was only there one night! This Inn has many positive reviews so I was surprised to have such a bummer experience. Just be forewarned! And bring your earplugs. Maybe your own breakfast too! And a Do Not Disturb Sign!

In these uncertain times, it can be a hassle to go anywhere, but a hassle is NOT what you will get at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. The warm and welcoming staff takes great care in perfecting a relaxing experience for each guest while balancing what regulations are in place (and constantly changing) for the safety of all involved. They have not limited their normal breakfast offerings but it can be scheduled for an in-room delivery or a preferred time set to be enjoyed in the breath-taking Solarium. The afternoon wine and cheese reception is beautifully hosted with the options to stay and enjoy in the Solarium or simply take your covered plate and beverage back to your room. The staff is up to speed on what's available/open in the area and is as ready as always to help with information, make reservations, or offer a variety of "social distancing" packages of things to see and do in the city. My personal favorite: a walking tour with a detailed map and information all laid out to best avoid the most foot traffic while not limiting the experience and history the Holy City has to offer. They even include bottled water!
The Inn has recently completed a total renovation and I thought it was beautiful before, but it is simply stunning! As a somewhat frequent traveler, the API is one of the few places I can actually stay and feel not only "at home" but sleep just as well as if I'm at home. It's the real deal and lacks nothing.

Picked this hotel for the location and you can’t beat it. A couple blocks from the marketplace and all the shopping/dining/carriage rides that go with it. Room was a bit small, but I think that’s what you get for when it was probably built. But overall, everything was clean and it made for a great home base for exploring the city.
The only negative for me was the breakfast and happy hour they have as complimentary, would’ve expected it to be a little more on the high end for what they are charging at the hotel. For breakfast, you basically choose between a cheese biscuit, ham/turkey croissant or spinach quiche (only one hot item per person) and then items like muffin, granola bar, Cheerios, fruit or yogurt with a drink. I would’ve expected pancakes as an option, particularly since they knock on your door when dropping it off. For the afternoon reception, they basically have a choice of 4 different jugs of cheap wine, didn’t get the cheese. Would’ve been nice to offer a beer as well as an option.
The room was relatively quiet (never heard outdoor noise, just people in hallways sometimes), but the only thing I would remark on is that there were no windows in mine, which may matter to some people, but I didn’t mind.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again if the price is right!

This is an inn that is very well located in the Charleston Historic District . They have a 24 hour valet service, 24 hour front desk service and an elevator to their rooms in the building we stayed in that was built in 1840. They also have a good complimentary breakfast from 7-10 am and another wine and cheese thing in the afternoon we did not make use of. My reason for the 3 rating was the petite interior view room we stayed in. It was the size of our dorm rooms in college . So it was narrow and crowded for two people . The safe in the closet room up space and the hanging rod needs to be higher to compensate so one can hang up a dress or longer items. It did have drawers below I used to hold my pants and shorts , etc. The barn door was stylish but it’s so close ( like a foot close ) to the bed you can see in the bathroom. You do have a desk you can sit at , work , and has several electrical plugs. The bed is nice , but could use more easily accessible plugs for multiple devices . The lighting is nice around the bed. The bathroom is fine and no concerns. What we should have done was to see if any larger rooms were available during our stay , but I knew my hubby was not moving rooms if given the chance. This room might have worked better for one occupant.

Thank you Teresa for taking the time to share feedback of your recent stay. Nice to know that overall you had a pleasant stay with us. You accommodations, the petite queen does directly imply the smaller size of the room but as you noticed it is very functional, yet cozy space. There are a limited number of these rooms in our inventory and our most economical. We would love assist you personally with selecting accommodations for a future stay as we have a large variety of more spacious rooms that we are sure would make for a more enjoyable multi night stay. Thank you again for choosing the Andrew Pinckney Inn.
