I wish I had an honest review like this one prior to going. We were beyond underwhelmed from the second we arrived. The property is beautiful - no doubt about that. But everything else from service, activities, amenities and most importantly value relative to price paid is severely lacking. We love nice hotels. We have no problem paying the hefty room rates for an amazing experience/resort but here, you are nickled and dimed everywhere you look. On top of the resort fee which is already on top of $2k/night, you need to pay for every tiny thing including simple things like tennis will cost your family of 4, $100. I share these details because they continued to leave a bad taste in our mouth all day long considering there was not much to do at all. At a hotel of this caliber, especially over Christmas, there should be a lot offered but the hotel was very low occupancy! It mostly caters to members who have homes in the area. The things they did offer was candy in the lobby and hot chocolate/tea and cookies and s’mores. As my husband said, they constantly fed people candy and sweets as a way of offering something but that was not what we were looking for in this vacation. We left feeling like it was a huge waste of money and looking forward to planning a nice vacation elsewhere. I feel awful writing this because we were so looking forward to the experience and planned this doing much research but hope this helps future travelers know the real deal.

We visited the Montage with our family (grandparents down to grandkids) and were hopeful that the experience would meet the reviews and price tag. Unfortunately, it left a bit to the imagination. Perhaps this property is best for girls weekends and/or couples stays. One night, the s’mores were canceled due to weather and there wasn’t a back up activity for the kids. The other afternoon, the kids waited anxiously for the 330pm hot chocolate and cider only to find out that it was empty at 4pm and they did not refill the station. The seating area in the lobby was charming however the other guests left their empty glasses and by the afternoon, we found ourselves bussing tables so we could sit down. We dined at three of the restaurants on property. I would say that the breakfast at Octogons was the best. The atmosphere at Cole’s was the most memorable from a family friendly perspective. And best overall was Buffalos on the porch. I really wanted the experience to meet our vision and found myself longing for more. Perhaps they are understaffed but we were left underwhelmed.

We stayed in one of the cottages for our anniversary. The room was gorgeous, with a back porch overlooking the lagoon. The fireplace was so romantic and cozy. Dinners at the Octagon and Canoe Club were both wonderful. Service was outstanding at all the restaurants and the shuttle drivers were so friendly. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back!

Montage Palmetto Bluff is a beautiful getaway. While it so peaceful and relaxing there is also so many wonderful activities. We love staying in one of the cabins on the Lagoon. From watching sunrises to sunsets and everything in between it has become one of our favorite places to visit. Biking, golf, spa and so much more. Every meal was amazing! The staff are some of the kindest people we have met. Will go back as soon as possible. Would love to take our whole family sometime too. It is great for families or a couple getaway

Lovely experience at the Montage Palmetto Bluff. This was my first visit to a Montage property and it both met and exceeded my expectations. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. My massage at the spa was excellent. I enjoyed the size of the property and the variety of activities and restaurants on site (there is a cuisine for everyone). A nice perk of this hotel is their fleet of house cars (Escalades or Cadillac sedans) which can be used free of charge to explore the area. My fiancé and I took one out one day to spend the afternoon in Hilton Head. I would definitely recommend the Montage to anyone visiting Bluffton.
