First family get away in some time due to COVID and I'm not sure I could give higher praise to the staff and the raw beauty of this resort. Imagine a place where you are actually greeted on arrival like they are happy to see you. it happens here. The concierge staff curated an experience for my family that gave us the full Palmetto Bluff experience: boating, archery, shooting, oyster roasts, tennis clinics, biking, swimming; all set in a beautiful low county paradise. We experienced a beautiful Easter church service overlooking the May River and just relaxed as a family. The Montage just caters to your every need. First class start to finish. A few folks who made it special: Emily - experience planner Rory - front desk Captain Moto - boating guide
This was our first trip since the pandemic started and we were cautiously optimistic, but the staff, amenities, and property far surpassed our expectations. The team on property did such a wonderful job keeping safety and health paramount, while still staying focused on customer service and ensuring folks had a great time. I really cannot compliment the staff enough – always focused on wearing masks and ensuring things were clean, but also making sure that everyone had an enjoyable visit. The cottage we rented was perfect for the three of us (our daughter on a rollout bed) and nicely set up for an extended stay. The bikes were perfect and parked right outside the cottage when we arrived and it was easy to get one for our daughter. The team put in the time to make sure it was the right fit for her. We did rent a cart and it ended up being useful – made it easier to go to and from meals, pool, or some locations with more stuff or a tired kid! A few things to call out: - Concierge: Laura and here team at the concierge were invaluable in making sure we had dinner reservations and never missed an opportunity to get a pin for our daughter’s lanyard. (There are a lot of adventures on property and for each you can earn a badge for the lanyard – our daughter was so pleased!) When one of the events was canceled for weather, Laura and her team made sure to reach out and get our daughter her pin so she would not feel left out. I made a joke about getting myself a reward when my daughter got all her badges and, when she did, Laura sent a special treat of bourbon and mixers to the room for my wife and I to celebrate. It was a really nice touch. - Front Desk: From the day we showed up, the team at the front desk – especially Matt and Sarah – were fantastic. Friendly and efficient in getting us settled and up to the room. Matt, in particular, took the time during the week to walk us through the property map and make sure we knew how to get there. The insider perspective is really helpful to have with such a big property and so much to see and do! - Pool/Fore and Aft: We spent a lot of time at the pool and had a wonderful time. The food and the service was great. In particular, Whisper, Benny, and Susan provided wonderful service and were friendly faces to see each day! - Octagon: The small restaurant just off the lobby was a great place for breakfast, lunch, and drinks (we didn’t have dinner there). Again, personnel like Guy and Victor made it such a wonderful experience. We loved having afternoon “drinks” at the bar (we had champagne, our daughter had a Shirley Temple!) and the food was tasty and usually came out quickly so we could move on to our adventures for the day. If you go, don’t miss out on S’Mores in the evening or grabbing a meal at the other restaurants – everything was really delicious! The property really is beautiful – if you play your cards right, you can see an alligator, an eagle, and a dolphin, all in the same day! Make sure to take a tour of the lagoon and a dolphin tour, if you have time.…
My family (3 kids under 7) and I stayed for 4 magical nights in April to celebrate my birthday. The trip exceeded all my expectations - immaculate, beautiful, serene grounds, excellent food, unlimited activities for the entire family (the kids painting a pony was a highlight). This is my first hotel review ever and we travel often. What compelled me to write this review was the service. Every single person who works at Montage is exceptionally nice, friendly and helpful. And, the manager, Rory, in particular is one the most helpful, accommodating hotel managers I have ever encountered. It was a very busy week at the hotel (Spring break and Easter) and Rory went totally above and beyond to make sure we were able to participate in every activity we wanted. He truly made this trip one that I will remember forever. If you’re thinking about booking, don’t hesitate!…
This was a wonderful surprise for us on a driving trip returning to Philadelphia from Florida. We decided to treat ourselves and extend our vacation after spending a week in Florida in a rental home with our children. We've been hesitant during covid and have not stayed at any hotel property in over a year. What a great choice we made for our first venture back into this world. We decided to rent a river view cottage and absolutely adored everything about this place. Our cottage came complete with a steam room in the shower(what a treat!), coffee bar with fridge, screened in porch, fireplace, bicycles, great bed, great linens...all the ingredients that helped to make this the most perfect restful break. Not being comfortable yet with restaurant dining, we took out 2 delicious dinners from the restaurant, Buffalo's, We really enjoyed our nightly routine of heading to the fire pits for complimentary s'mores. We were especially impressed with the incredible level of service we experienced at every level. We can't say enough good things about Front Desk Manager, Ryan, as well as Customer Service Director, Joshua. Holly, who checked us in and out was equally attentive to our every need. The other thing I want to mention is how safe we felt there during Covid...everything was immaculate and everyone was very respectful with mask use. Life almost felt normal again. We loved it so much that we have rebooked to return In July on our way home from Hilton Head. Thank you, Montage Palmetto Bluff! You've become our new most favorite place!…
We just returned from our second trip to MPB and had an amazing time. This was the first time we brought our daughters and our Frenchie with us and watching them explore this property was just like doing it again for the first time for us. I had read a lot on trip advisor prior to my trip but did not find a ton of information on kids amenities. First we stayed in a Cottage Suite on the river. They had a roll away bed and made up the window seat for my daughters to sleep. They thought this was so fun. They also have the option for a fold out sofa for older kids but mine loved the idea of taking turns sleeping in the window. Our cottage provided four bikes for us to use while on our trip. My daughters are too young to make the trip all the way to Moreland but everyday we went exploring and saw alligators, juvenile bald eagles, and visited the treehouses. We also rented a golf cart for our longer rides out to Moreland and the girls LOVED this. Between the scenic drive there and the giggles from the bumps, it was great. Right when we checked in the staff gave our girls little stuffed animals and introduced their badge program to them. They had lanyards and a pamphlet of things to do in order to earn badges. They thought this was so much fun and were able to earn quite a few while we were there. We had some cold and rainy days so we will be back next time and look into getting our archery and fishing badges. We were able to take advantage of the stables and went out to the barn for pony painting one day and a pony ride the next. My girls loved the ride on their pony Winter. It was a great way to walk the property and take it all in. It was picturesque. With the weather not co-operating we decided to try the Paint Box which is MPB's kids club. We decided on Kids Night Out so my husband and I could take advantage of a peaceful non-rushed dinner in the Canoe Club (It was delicious as always). We brought the girls to the front of the Inn and knew immediately that they were in good hands when we met Camden and Kim. Both took right to our girls by making jokes and engaging with them. From there they go to the Paint Box in Moreland near Cole's. Dinner is included and my girls had such an amazing time that they begged to go back the next night! They made smores, did crafts, played games, told jokes, and did scavenger hunts. The next night Camden was there and my girls were so excited. This young man has a way with children and is one of the many people at this property that help to make an amazing place even more amazing. Again, we took advantage of our adult free time and had a few drinks at the Octagon bar. We met Victor and this hard working young man made the most fantastic drinks. He quickly learned my husbands palate and was able to make some of the best drinks he had ever had. He was very busy that night but still made us feel like he had plenty of time to talk with us and help us enjoy our time. He is another blessing at this beautiful location. Our dog was treated like a king while at this resort too. Everyone had a treat for him. There was a bed and bowls in the room for him. He was given a bowtie for his collar at check in too. He had his picture taken and is now Instagram famous at dogsofpalmettobluff. Check it out. It is adorable. Our first trip had been for our anniversary and I would recommend this trip for adults and families alike. It really is the perfect combination of resort life and nature. We will definitely be back.…
