Unfortunately, I cannot comment specifically about the property other than they seem to have no regard for their customers' needs/requests. My wife had planned a surprise weekend for my birthday which, due to the current Covid, we needed to cancel. This was done within the cancellation policy. However, we are now 23 days past the initial phone call, which did generate a cancellation. We have yet to see a credit for the payment or any return call from anyone on staff. Or a reply to the email I sent... The staff she has spoken to can only say "they will talk to the manager." I normally travel 200+ nights a year so I am very familiar with issues that can occur at hotels. Never in 20+ years has anything ever been this difficult to simply get an update/reply. In summary, I'm glad we didn't stay there; I can only imagine how poorly our experience would have been. If I do get a reply in the next 24-48 hours, I will retract this post.

We stayed end of October, so many of the reviews on breakfast did not apply now. We were able to sit on the porch and someone came to take our orders. Everything was made to order and perfect. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed the social distance on the porch as well. Located walking distance to main street..it was a perfect location. We had no problems with staff at all. One thing was that our # 14 cottage room bed was HARD. I would probably ask for another room next time, otherwise we had a great visit.

Classic old southern inn, Staff was very attentive, especially the gentleman at the front desk who recommended great local restaurants and sights to see. Beaufort is a wonderful little town. Breakfast on the front porch was fabulous. Rooms were large bright and sunny. Rooms could use some updated bedspreads but charming overall.

Food: Breakfast was so bad we skipped it the second day.. As another review said, kitchen staff were grumpy, annoyed with requests, slow to respond. When I requested honey, I was given an empty bottle and told "there's not much left." Staff: The property desperately needs a new manager. There is clearly no oversight of it. I don't believe rooms are checked after being cleaned. There seems to be an overabundance of staff, including the registration person, who we often found sitting in the kitchen. We didn't know who was and wasn't an employee. It seemed like a gathering place for friends. Sanitation and Cleanliness: Rooms are lovely but when you look deeply, they are simply not clean. Baseboards by the toilet were filthy, silk plants were covered in dust, porch had newspapers 3 days old, a dirty coffee cup and furniture/floor has not been cleaned in a long time. Floor A/C register plates were covered in rust. Walls had spots from previously dropped beverages. Stain on bedspread. TV guide was old and I doubt it had been sanitized. Blinds covered in dust Bicycles: They are terrible -- didn't have sufficient air and needed significant adjustment. Upkeep: Patio door window treatment needs repair. Patio doors would not lock I have no confidence that the unit was sanitized between guests. No one seems to be checking the rooms to make sure they are sufficiently cleaned. Is the property is for sale -- is seemed woefully neglected. This is too beautiful a property to be run this way.

When we arrived a pleasant hostess showed us to our room ( #8) and offered waters. We have no idea who the owners are. Lovely room, comfortable beds and the only issue was a little dampness due to having a window a/c unit. The location was great: easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. We were aware of the alterations due to Covid. However, the only word we could come up with at breakfast was bizarre. You place your order for eggs, bacon and toast at a counter to staff who are in no way friendly . I asked for extra crispy bacon and the reply after a few seconds of silence, was " We'll try". On the first morning we were offered orange juice, and the second morning had to ask for it. There was a tip jar at the counter. How tacky is that at a bed and breakfast. They bring you the breakfast wrapped in foil or in a plastic container, with plastic utensils. Here is the issue: when you walk 5 minutes to the waterfront area and go to a restaurant, you get a glass plate, regular silverware , and a cloth napkin. Perhaps if the staff had been friendlier, that would have eased the letdown of the breakfast somewhat.
