We stayed at the Break for 2 nights recently and I can’t speak highly enough about both the room and the staff. Every single employee was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to get us everything we wanted. When a bottle of wine I had brought with me was not great when opened, the front desk had another bottle in our room with fresh glasses within 10 minutes. The room was fantastic, clean and the fireplace was a nice touch. We had stayed at the Ocean Rose Inn for 1 night before staying at The Break and for a similarly priced room the experience was truly night and day. Can’t wait to come back to use more of the amenities (it was a little too cold, even for the heated pool).

This is our 3rd stay here for a sisters get a way and even with COVID restrictions, it didn’t disappoint. Entrance to the hotel is only for hotel guests including the restaurant. Since there’s only 16 rooms, it’s never crowded and you feel welcomed by all staff. The outdoor heated pool was a great treat even in November. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. We constantly witnessed staff cleaning all areas of the hotel, including floor moldings, handles, doors etc. Hand sanitizer was located around the hotel and 8n the elevator. The balcony is big enough for. To enjoy a drink, read a book or watch the sunrise/set depending where you stay. The complimentary breakfast isn’t their usual buffet style, but the taste is still there. Location... great walking distance to restaurants, the light house and the shoreline. Best perk we experienced this time.... a massage by Dale. She has magical hands. While I get massages often, especially on vacation, this is by far one of my top 2 therapists. We highly recommend you check her out when you visit.

The Break Hotel provided a much needed break from our sofa and Netflix. Even though we live only 4 miles away, we took advantage of a great rate and escaped. The room was spotless, comfortable, and loved the modern decor and amenities (ipad tablet, apple tv, keurig and mini fridge). Nice linens and spa products. Great walk-in rain shower. We enjoyed dinner at the rooftop bar and later a dip in the saltwater pool (heated year round) and the sauna added some extra steam. Came back to our room and kicked on the gas fireplace. Service was impeccable and promptly responsive to our requests. The "continental" breakfast was brought to our room and the "small plates" was a full American breakfast . Can't say enough wonderful things about our escape to the Break. Will definitely recommend and look forward to our future stay.

My fiance and I recently stayed at the Break Hotel in Narragansett Rhode Island for a romantic getaway. This boutique hotel is situated one street away from the stunning ocean.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a beautiful lobby featuring beach chic decor and plenty of seating, a chessboard and a lovely oversized fishtank with an interactive ipad explaing the different species inside. After a friendly check-in we were on our way to room 301. This hotel has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. From the nice king size comfortable bed, to the fireplace and the modern glass mini fridge to store drinks. The piece de resistance was the bathroom featuring heated floors & a rainfall shower & deep sunken bathtub.
The Break Hotel is within walking distance to two Rhode Island staples Iggy's Doughboys & Aunt Carries or if you want to stay in for the night Chair 5 the hotels rooftop restaraunt offers great food, drinks & amazing views. During our stay we were able to catch an epic sunset on the hotels 'sunset deck' adjacent to the restaraunt, definitely check that out!
There is a lovely heated pool on location. During our stay the temperature dropped to the 50s in the evening but we hardly knew as the pool remained warm and comfortable. Relaxing in the sauna was also the perfect way to cap off our evening. The lounge chairs by the pool were unique with a small slot for both a drink and cellphone.
If your thinking about staying at the Break Hotel do not hesitate. There is a reason this is the number one hotel in Narragansett. So many unique touches wowed us including the expansive complimentary breakfast. We're already planning our return visit to this lovely hidden gem in Rhode Island. For a video of our stay you can find us on Jenichael's Journey on YouTube.

This was our first time in a hotel since COVID. The hotel is clean and staff was friendly. We checked in changed and went straight to the beach. We didn’t realize until getting back from dinner which was a little after 10:00 pm (the front desk was already closed at this point, nobody around for assistance if needed, we were not notified this would be the case) that we were not given the WiFi password and I had some work to do, which couldn’t not be done. I also had an issue with the air condition, could not get the temperature to regulate, the fan would not go on and the temp would not go down, the room was extremely hot on an 85 degree night. The room was close to 600.00 with tax, these are issues that are completely unacceptable. I have never stayed in a hotel and had the front desk close at 10:00 pm, or close at all for that matter. I relayed the issues to the front desk and was told they would notify the manager. I did not hear from them and contacted the manager Marc, he took my name and number and said he would get back to me, it’s over 24 hours and I haven’t heard back. The hotel is average at best and not worth the money, I would opt for the Ocean Rose Inn, better bang for your buck. It’s in a much better location, within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and the beach.

I wish I could keep this place a secret and have it all to myself, but, then YOU would miss out. Book it. Now. Friendly staff, clean, even though the hotel was booked we felt like we had the place to ourselves with lots of places to chill ~ pool, sauna, chess in the lobby with a relaxing fish tank, drinks/dinner on the roof deck, secret sunset lounge. The Decor itself is calming and transports you to 1960s surf town. Walk 2 minutes for dinner at Spain. Drive a mile in either direction to beaches. Drive a little further in either direction & have lunch at the Coast Guard House while watching the surfers off of Narragansett town beach or get friend clams at Jimmys Portside and watch the fishing boats in Galilee. Did I mention the friendly staff? OH, and breakfast included is made to order not just your average continental. Thank you to Jessica who answered all 1,000 of my questions and made sure we felt welcome. To the hard working housekeeping staff who were always smiling and asking if we needed anything. To the Chef, servers, bartenders who put out delicious food and cocktails. I really can't say enough except I wish we never left. Book it now and enjoy! We will be back!

In the middle of a global health crisis, we found an oasis at The Break that was perfect. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL! Small, charming, well decorated and IMMACULATE. The protocols in place gave us a sense of security while not being overbearing. We were fortunate to have delightful October weather in our favor. We enjoyed the heated, outdoor pool and sauna for two. We ate in Chair 5 restaurant on the fourth floor that has outdoor and indoor options. We chose indoors (again, safe protocols in place) due to drop in air temperature. Great water views. The included breakfast (fabulous!) was enjoyed poolside. The staff in the hotel were welcoming and friendly. We could feel their smiles from behind their masks. The cleaning crew were lovely young ladies who offered assistance and hospitality. This is a premiere location for a respite from pandemic fatigue. We came home renewed. In our opinion, this is an adult environment, not well suited for families. Thank you to the staff member who called to report my watch left behind which will be mailed to us. Can you believe this level of service? Just wonderful.

The Break is a lovely and welcoming hotel. Upon our arrival, as well as during our stay, they explained & took all of the necessary COVID precautions. The hotel is only a few years old and is super clean and beautifully decorated. We had a very spacious, well appointed room with a balcony and ocean view. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the saltwater pool as well as the rooftop bar/restaurant. The bartender/waiter on the rooftop was super friendly and the food and drinks were outstanding. We highly recommend the Break Cosmo, coconut shrimp and fisherman's platter. Bikes were available to ride around Narragansett and beach chairs were also provided for our trip to the beach. All of the staff were very accommodating and the service was outstanding. The celebratory prosecco and note in our room when we arrived was a nice touch. We had a very relaxing time here and definitely recommend it. We will be back!

Rather than remove my previous review submitted yesterday of The Break In Narragansett RI I thought it would be just as appropriate to update it. I had posted my disappointment regarding the 10% fee I was charged for canceling our Easter weekend due to concerns about the Coronavirus pandemic. Today I received a call from the owner who not only reimbursed the full 100% deposit, but more importantly, expressed a very heartfelt apology for the error. As with so many other businesses, standard policies are being re-evaluated and changes are being made. We thank Mark for his reconsideration and for restoring our confidence in the excellent service we have come to rely on at
The Break.

The Break is the place! My sisters and I had a suite for the night and we already made a plan to visit again. Without knowing what it’s like in the summer, a fall visit felt like a perfect choice. No crowds in Narragansett meant we had the heated saltwater pool to ourselves at sunset and we got the chance to borrow the Break bikes for an easy going and low-traffic ride around the area. Our room was full of treats like an in-room fireplace, balcony with view of the ocean and even a heated bathroom floor! Room-service in our robes couldn’t have been nicer. Breakfast outside by the pool (in sweaters) was delicious and the staff was kind and helpful. See you next year, Break!

Answer from Amanda Wallace

We do have 4 Ocean Suite Rooms that will hold up to four total guests (they have one king bed and a pull-out queen sleeper sofa in the living room area) - and since we have an outdoor pool that is heated for year-round use, I'm sure your kids will love it! Please note our extra person charge ($50/pp over two guests) does apply to children as well. Have fun!

I'm sorry to say we do not allow pets at The Break, unless they are a certified service animal. We do have a few hotels in our Lark Hotels collection that allow pets - please see our website for details. Thanks for understanding!

Why the hotel charged the card right after booking ?
Answer from Amanda Wallace
Portland, Maine
As stated on our policies on our webpage, and as would have been told to you at the time of booking our policy is as follows: for a multiple night stay, a deposit of half of the total charges is due at the time of booking. For a one night stay, the full amount is due as a deposit. This is pretty standard for hotels of our size. Thanks for understanding!
