Love the style and relaxed attitude here. I stayed twice over a week. The heated pool is great (when there are no loud kids in it not wearing masks) and the food was really good. The rooms are very modern and comfortable and the staff very nice. It feels like Rhode Island. If you’re from here you know what that means. My suggestions- ask for a room away from housekeeping closets and elevator. A beachside room is probably not worth the upsell as the rooms aren’t very different and the view is nice (not on the beach) but the noise from the pool kind of kills it if kids are down there. My suite had a broken shower. I would not pay the prices to stay in summer here but for a fall or winter get away it’s great.

My husband and I needed a place to stay overnight before returning to Block Island and chose The Break. Check in: WOW! Room: immaculate and beautiful! ( ocean view) WOW! Staff: polite, efficient, just excellent! Breakfast? PERFECT! Our server, Rebecca was great! The meal was delicious! We loved our stay. Just sorry we did not bring bathing suits, ( yes, November 9th!) as the hot salt water pool and sauna looked so inviting. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will definitely return,

This is our 3rd stay here for a sisters get a way and even with COVID restrictions, it didn’t disappoint. Entrance to the hotel is only for hotel guests including the restaurant. Since there’s only 16 rooms, it’s never crowded and you feel welcomed by all staff. The outdoor heated pool was a great treat even in November. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. We constantly witnessed staff cleaning all areas of the hotel, including floor moldings, handles, doors etc. Hand sanitizer was located around the hotel and 8n the elevator. The balcony is big enough for. To enjoy a drink, read a book or watch the sunrise/set depending where you stay. The complimentary breakfast isn’t their usual buffet style, but the taste is still there. Location... great walking distance to restaurants, the light house and the shoreline. Best perk we experienced this time.... a massage by Dale. She has magical hands. While I get massages often, especially on vacation, this is by far one of my top 2 therapists. We highly recommend you check her out when you visit.

This review is based on a trip to the hotel in 2016, July 2020 and a recently cancelled upcoming trip for Nov 2020. I really enjoyed the hotel the first time I went with my mother years ago and would have given them top marks. However, my recent negative experience is top of mind because as COVID cases rise in RI, with the Providence Journal recently doing an article 10/20 about how Narragansett (where they are located) is a hotspot, I think it is egregious for any hotel to charge their guest a cancellation fee of any kind to cancel over 15 days out due to public health concerns. As I live in NJ, I would have to quarantine for 14 days to spend 2 days there. That's ridiculous. Be aware, if you book there and need to cancel because COVID cases go in the wrong direction, they will charge you some fee regardless of how far out you cancel. Pros: Cute, clean, well-decorated hotel Proximity to the beach Friendly staff Good breakfast Nice, but smaller pool Cons: Business practices that seemingly work against public health concerns On our last stay, the TV didn't work over our stay, though they did try to fix it
