We came here after a long difficult year for us and I must say it was the best decision we ever did.. Shells by the sea was perfect in every way. Our host were so nice and totally went out of their way for us.. Our breakfast were delicious and the rooms beautiful ..It was so relaxing and close to everything.. we plan on making it a yearly tradition if we are lucky enough. My daughter said she loved it and would love to go back!!! .. People do make a difference.... felt like family when we left ..

If you want to stay in a fantastic house with awesome owners and a beautifully landscaped backyard and deck, complete with a warm saltwater pool - then Shells by the Sea is your place! The owners Shell and Ned are our good friends after staying only two days. The rooms are lovely and super clean. The breakfasts are fresh and delicious; we had such fun chatting with Shell and the other guests over breakfast. After a day at the beach, a swim in the secluded backyard pool was a welcome, relaxing respite. I would highly recommend this delightful B&B! Thanks, Shell and Ned - we will return!😊☀️

My husband, son, and I stayed at Shells for two nights while touring Narragansett and Newport. Our rooms were quite large and roomy, as was our bathroom. Beds were very comfortable. The entire home was immaculate, well decorated and inviting. Shell made us feel right at home and frequently asked if there was anything she could do for us. In the morning we sat on the back porch with coffee and tea, overlooking the beautiful grounds and outdoor heated pool. Breakfast was delicious. Shell asked us our preferences before serving. We had access to a refrigerator, downstairs fully equipped gym, sitting rooms. Couldn't ask for anything more! Thanks, Shell!

Not generally B&B people, but Shell and her husband Ned, two most wonderful hosts, just might have changed our minds. Their home is lovely and certainly run better than many hotels I've stayed out in my extensive travel career. Location works. Great biking and beaching close by. Newport easy to get to. Restaurants serving good food at good pricing abound. Just a super easy, clean, enjoyable place to lay our heads.

Great friendly hosts, both Shell and Ned. The house is big, beautiful and immaculately maintained. Beautiful grounds and landscaping. The heated salt water pool was incredible with lots of relaxing lounge chairs. Definitely our favorite part. Our room was great but did not have a bathroom in it. It was across the hall which is not what's considered private, but we were the only ones upstairs so it was ok. Breakfast was good but we didn't seem to have a choice of what kind. You are actually within their house which is a little different than the B&Bs we've stayed in previously, but its still very comfortable and a great place to stay.

Shells by the Sea welcomes you with its pristine grounds, marble entry, comfortable rooms and décor by "Shel" that offers an almost museum worthy décor throughout.. Shel, whom she wants you to think of as "your favorite cousin" is warm, cheerful and laid back. Guests can watch and chat with her as she cooks gourmet breakfasts, and then escorts us to the dining room where she joins us to thoroughly enjoy. Every room has its own flair. We spent 5 nights in the suite, decorated obviously for the romantic. Shel cheerfully invites you to chill in any of the sitting rooms, so sophisticated and relaxed. The linens, as well as all furnishings provide a richness, yet warmth to the imaculate home. Shel's energy and spirit resonate with her words and successful efforts to keep the B and B immaculate. We decided on a week visit to the Newport RI area. After seeing the eye-popping prices in town, we expanded our search and came across Shells... What a wonderful find! Shell and Ned were wonderful hosts, immediately making us feel welcome. We stayed 6 nights, most of it in the "attic", which is a private suite with a sitting room and bathroom - very nice! We did have to move once, but Shell was very accommodating to make our stay work around those of other guests, making it easy. Breakfasts were well prepared and delicious. We used the beautiful back yard and pool often. And we found that Narragansett was a great central location, with easy access to Newport, the Block Island ferry and the town's own great restaurants. When we left, we felt like we were saying goodbye to good friends. Overall, strongly recommended, and we hope to return soon!…

By far the best B&B experience. Shell and Ned are amazing hosts who truly love welcoming guests into their home. From the first phone call to the moment we checked out, Shell makes you feel as though you are visiting with family. We stayed four nights at this gorgeous B&B. Our private room and bath were luxurious and we are really enjoyed the salt water heated pool in their beautifully landscaped back yard. Shell and Ned were great hosts and fixed us delicious breakfasts. We took the FAST FERRY to Martha’s Vineyard, explored the Newport Cliff Walk, and drove Ocean Drive.
