We've been staying at this facility for many years. It isn't fancy and offers no social activities, but you're two miles from downtown Newport RI, what more could you want? Make reservations very early as they keep booked all summer. About $55 to $60 a day! That's cheap considering the location.

Some of the convenience nearby establishments serve food that will keep you coming back. Anthony's Sea Food just up the road was featured on Diners DriveInns and Dives. A couple of miles down the side roads is a Sweet Berry Farm. You'll want to visit this place for fresh berries and homemade scones, chowders, pies, etc.

Tight turn to get in this camp ground because we turned in the wrong drive way. It is conveniently located outside Newport Rhode Island. 30 amp service with water and sewer. Very tight sites. For our needs this is ok.
They do not take credit cards, all cash. This is ok for basic needs.

We had asked for a FHU and mailed in a deposit, and when we arrived they only had an electric only site. Apparently this is standard operating procedure, so be sure you are OK with electric-only before considering this park. There is a dump station near the front where you can also take on water. There are also a couple of water stations scattered around the park. The water pressure is pretty low, so it takes a while to fill your tank. We think there are a few FHU sites up front, but almost all of those sites are taken by seasonal trailers. Also, those sites seem to be much closer together than the ones in the back or "the field" as they call it. The sites in the field are all grass, back-in sites with 30 amp only. The sites are fairly spacious with old picnic tables and very few trees. There is a bit of a slope to all sites in the field, but nothing unmanageable. There is no Wi-Fi in the field, they lost their provider. They take cash or checks, they took our personal check from Texas. So why stay here? You are less than a mile from Easton Beach, not much further to second beach and very close to all of the mansions and the center of Newport. You are literally minutes from anywhere in town. They do keep the park mowed and clean, and they give you a big packet of information upon arrival. We were comfortable during our stay notwithstanding the limited amenities.

GREAT PLACE: We stayed at Meadowlark RV Park for 11 months while I attended the Naval War College in Newport, RI. Meadowlark RV Park is conveniently located about a mile from all of the Newport/Middletown beaches and is about 8 minutes from downtown Newport. It is a combination of a mobile home park and RV park. Its best features are: 1) Location to attractions/town 2) Camp host and office support 3) Friendly camping neighbors. The park is next to a nice little park where I would go for walks with my wife and dog during warmer weather. In early 2023, they installed astroturf for each campsite which made for a nice patio area. The camp has a laundry room and no showers. It also has full hook-up sites and will accommodate up to a 45ft camper. Dianne and Joe manage the camp and run a tight ship. They alert you whenever packages arrive and take care of any requests you have immediately. The free wifi is spotty but you can opt to pay a bit extra and get more download speed. I opted to get a T-Mobile home internet cube for $50/month and got great speeds. The park has ample parking and two fire rings plus two cornhole games and a volleyball net. It is a VERY quiet park which was nice. A lot of the temporary campers were Navy personnel going to various schools at the Newport Naval Base. We will return to Meadowlark due to the great experience we had there during our year in Middletown/Newport. The park manager (Joe) now has electric bikes to rent. Note: my monthly rate varied from $995 to $1150/month (without electricity or propane for the winter). This includes a 10% military discount. The average daily rate is ~ $95/night w/ full hookup.

This "campground" is certainly interesting. Mostly seasonals. We chose this park as it was less expensive than others in the area and we knew we would be sightseeing most of the time. If you are looking for bells and whistles, this is not the place for you.

We had to fill our water tank on the way in "very precarious" even though they have "hidden water spigots" for their seasonals. Makes no sense.

In any event, it is an OK place to drop for a few days and sightsee in Newport.

We camped there with our 43 foot fifth wheel.

I had no specific issues other than the sites by the entrance are a bit off level. I have a class C that does not have hydraulic jacks so I could not get level enough to allow my refer to run properly. I could have relocated to another site further down but we stuck it out. There is nothing fancy here we only slept here to be honest. It was about a 3 mile walk to downtown which we were happy to do. Newport was enjoyable. If you are looking for a place to stay and sleep this is fine. Sites are close together as others have said. I would stay here again.

We had never visited the area before and wanted a place close to Newport. This is the place...

We had reserved a full hook up site. As others have posted, it is either cash or traveler check for payment. We arrived, paid and were given some local info and directions to our site. All the sites are grass. We were unable to get our 40' coach level and the rear wheels would need to be off the ground to make this happen which is not safe. Back to the office and was given an an electric only site on another part of the park. It was also back in and had much less slope. The coach still would not level, but we made due. The sites are all 30 amp. It is a no frills park and we knew that going into it. We were there to see the area and the park served us well.

If coming in via a motorhome, I would encourage the electric only sites as they are your best bet in getting as close to level as you can.

This place was fine. The bad reviews are interesting. We had no problems. We were level, but we have hydraulic jacks. You are very close to your neighbors but none of our slide outs or awning would have touched the neighbors. We were here to explore Newport not "relax". Wifi worked very well. The owner was very nice. I informed her of the bad reviews and told her about my fears of driving here from Fisherman's State Park in Narragansett, 24 miles away. It's not a "beautiful" campground, but you are close to two beaches and a windmill park with trails. We saw others with dogs and they were friendly and raved about the place. The "view" of trailer homes and some of the neighbors isn't fabulous but who cares! We are safe, our RV is in good shape, nothing bad happened, very quiet and the staff/owner was very very helpful. I'm starting to realize some RV owners just have to complain. I don't get it...

Customer service is awful. Person answering the phone to get monthly rates was rude and very sarcastic. I was looking for a long term term rental for a RV spot. After she said she didn't have any spots available, she then continued to ask more detailed information after being rude. I finally gave up and said enough since she said she didnt have spots open....

We always return to Meadowlark campground rv Park. The grounds are well cared for, its peaceful with just the nicest people that run it. We feel safe and so enjoy sitting around the fire pit at night. When you walk around you can hear the Ocean Waves in the distance and have at night many times see deer. We have run into problems at another campground in the area and they just were uncaring. We have go there because it always feels Like home and will assist you in parking which is nice after you have been driving for many hours. We highly recommend!
