Tight turn to get in this camp ground because we turned in the wrong drive way. It is conveniently located outside Newport Rhode Island. 30 amp service with water and sewer. Very tight sites. For our needs this is ok. They do not take credit cards, all cash. This is ok for basic needs.
We always return to Meadowlark campground rv Park. The grounds are well cared for, its peaceful with just the nicest people that run it. We feel safe and so enjoy sitting around the fire pit at night. When you walk around you can hear the Ocean Waves in the distance and have at night many times see deer. We have run into problems at another campground in the area and they just were uncaring. We have go there because it always feels Like home and will assist you in parking which is nice after you have been driving for many hours. We highly recommend!
We had asked for a FHU and mailed in a deposit, and when we arrived they only had an electric only site. Apparently this is standard operating procedure, so be sure you are OK with electric-only before considering this park. There is a dump station near the front where you can also take on water. There are also a couple of water stations scattered around the park. The water pressure is pretty low, so it takes a while to fill your tank. We think there are a few FHU sites up front, but almost all of those sites are taken by seasonal trailers. Also, those sites seem to be much closer together than the ones in the back or "the field" as they call it. The sites in the field are all grass, back-in sites with 30 amp only. The sites are fairly spacious with old picnic tables and very few trees. There is a bit of a slope to all sites in the field, but nothing unmanageable. There is no Wi-Fi in the field, they lost their provider. They take cash or checks, they took our personal check from Texas. So why stay here? You are less than a mile from Easton Beach, not much further to second beach and very close to all of the mansions and the center of Newport. You are literally minutes from anywhere in town. They do keep the park mowed and clean, and they give you a big packet of information upon arrival. We were comfortable during our stay notwithstanding the limited amenities. …
This "campground" is certainly interesting. Mostly seasonals. We chose this park as it was less expensive than others in the area and we knew we would be sightseeing most of the time. If you are looking for bells and whistles, this is not the place for you. We had to fill our water tank on the way in "very precarious" even though they have "hidden water spigots" for their seasonals. Makes no sense. In any event, it is an OK place to drop for a few days and sightsee in Newport. We camped there with our 43 foot fifth wheel.
I had no specific issues other than the sites by the entrance are a bit off level. I have a class C that does not have hydraulic jacks so I could not get level enough to allow my refer to run properly. I could have relocated to another site further down but we stuck it out. There is nothing fancy here we only slept here to be honest. It was about a 3 mile walk to downtown which we were happy to do. Newport was enjoyable. If you are looking for a place to stay and sleep this is fine. Sites are close together as others have said. I would stay here again.
We stayed one night and it wasn't bad. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also gave us a book of pamphlets and maps of the area on check in. This place has a retro feel about it for sure. Mostly long term people who are living in the park. Overall it's a fine place to stay if you're looking to stay close to Newport, which is all we wanted. It's very close to Newport and convenient. No outdoor rugs or fires allowed (fires only in a community fire pit), but like I said, we only stayed one night so we could go explore Newport. It's worth it for that.
We had never visited the area before and wanted a place close to Newport. This is the place... We had reserved a full hook up site. As others have posted, it is either cash or traveler check for payment. We arrived, paid and were given some local info and directions to our site. All the sites are grass. We were unable to get our 40' coach level and the rear wheels would need to be off the ground to make this happen which is not safe. Back to the office and was given an an electric only site on another part of the park. It was also back in and had much less slope. The coach still would not level, but we made due. The sites are all 30 amp. It is a no frills park and we knew that going into it. We were there to see the area and the park served us well. If coming in via a motorhome, I would encourage the electric only sites as they are your best bet in getting as close to level as you can.…
This place was fine. The bad reviews are interesting. We had no problems. We were level, but we have hydraulic jacks. You are very close to your neighbors but none of our slide outs or awning would have touched the neighbors. We were here to explore Newport not "relax". Wifi worked very well. The owner was very nice. I informed her of the bad reviews and told her about my fears of driving here from Fisherman's State Park in Narragansett, 24 miles away. It's not a "beautiful" campground, but you are close to two beaches and a windmill park with trails. We saw others with dogs and they were friendly and raved about the place. The "view" of trailer homes and some of the neighbors isn't fabulous but who cares! We are safe, our RV is in good shape, nothing bad happened, very quiet and the staff/owner was very very helpful. I'm starting to realize some RV owners just have to complain. I don't get it...…
We arrived with our 2 dogs, 2 kids and 45 foot motor home quite late in the evening. Staff immediately came out to help us get settled. Great rates for the area! We enjoyed the community fire pits & were able to chat with neighbors. We stayed for four days & will stay with them again when we return to Newport.
Most expensive place we have stayed. Unlevel, grass only sites. Can't hold anything over 35ft although they don't tell you that. Non-seasonal people are definitely not cared for at all. No fire pits and you are right on top of your neighbors on all sides. Very pet unfriendly, although there are many of them here. Rude, lazy staff. Won't ever stay here again.
