We came to Rhode Island all the way from Singapore and due to unforeseen circumstances, we ended up being extremely tight on schedule for a wedding that we were supposed to attend. Lisa was super helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate us. It was 4 July and even though her guesthouse was fully booked, she still tried everything to help us out. Without her great hospitality, our trip would definitely not have been so successful. The room is very well decorated and maintained. It’s conveniently located in this beautiful city and I highly recommend to visit her place if you planned a stay. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The room was really big and we had plenty of space for our luggage. Thanks for the wonderful trip, Lisa!
I was a solo female traveler looking for a place to stay that wasn't as expensive as Newport and away from the noise of touristy places. Lionel Champlin Guest House and Jamestown were perfect! I often have trouble sleeping when I travel alone, and in general, yet I slept so soundly here. I felt like I was staying at a friend's house; it was that comfortable. I stayed in the Rose Room, which is beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfy and I was able to relax easily. Lisa is the perfect host; so kind and accommodating. I really appreciated all of her suggestions of places to go, how to get there, her kindness in offering to make me food, etc. I can't imagine a better experience. I loved my time here and I hope to be back!
We enjoyed warm hospitality and charming atmosphere during our visit. Lisa’s thoughtful personal touches and our beautiful room made for a lovely stay. The plentiful breakfast choices were always a delicious start to the day! After our adventures on cold days the guest house was a perfect homey retreat for the evenings ! We are looking forward to a return visit!
We visited family in Jamestown with my father and since there were too many of us to fit comfortably our family booked my fiancé and I here. It was comfortable, clean and such a convenient location! We would stay here again!
Beautiful rooms tastefully decorated with a mix of vintage furniture and modern conveniences. Recently renovated breakfast room with everything you need to whip up something of your own, but you won't want to pass up on the delicious coffee and baked goods prepared fresh every morning.
The Lionel Champlin Guest House is a true gem. Lisa (the owner) is so lovely. She puts so much care and detail into her beautiful home and ensures the ultimate comfort and hospitality for her guests. Our family enjoyed the gorgeous apartment upstairs. There was more than enough room for all four of us in this beautifully renovated, clean, comfortable apartment with a full kitchen and views of the harbor!!! She even had fluffy bath towels for us. She took time with us to show us around the home and there was a lot! Fresh coffee and pastry in the morning. There was a kitchen with access to the fridge and snacks. The front porch is the perfect place to catch an evening breeze and stretch out. There are even maps in the hallways that show were all her guests were from. It is so nice to have found the Lionel Champlin Guest House and to meet Lisa. She truly cares about each of her guests and provides the most wonderful experience. I cannot recommend this beautiful B&B enough! Go and stay, you will LOVE it!…
After watching a segment of Chronicle featuring Jamestown, RI, my husband and I made immediate plans to visit for 3 days, and made the most fortunate decision to stay at the Lionel Champlin Guest House. Only 1 1/2 hours from our home on Cape Cod, Jamestown was a restful break from the summer crowds on the Cape, while still maintaining a beachy, summer vibe. We pulled into the large parking area of the guest house & were immediately offered assistance with our bags. Lisa (the owner), showed me upstairs to our room, acquainting me with the keyless entry and the wireless codes, while telling me a bit about herself and her home. She has been welcoming guests for 25 years, and it shows. We stayed in the Rose Room on the 2nd floor. It was brightly painted and spotless (I know Lisa has gone to great lengths to keep the accommodations safe during Covid). 3 large windows in the bedroom with another in the adjoining bathroom kept the room very comfortable during 3 of the hottest days of the summer. There was a box fan to fit in 1 window in addition to an oscillating floor fan. Those, combined with a nice comfortable mattress, led to very restful nights. 2 closets and a small dresser allowed us to unpack and stow our luggage away, keeping a spacious feel to the room. Lisa provides fresh coffee and tea in the morning, along with freshly baked breads/muffins and fruit. Other items are available in the sunroom/guest kitchen, such as yogurt, granola and hard-boiled eggs. There is also a microwave and full-size refrigerator for guest-use, and many tables where you could sit to read or work on a laptop.. We enjoyed sitting on the sturdy, brightly upholstered white wicker furniture on the front porch, sipping our coffee, marveling at the quietness of the neighborhood. The harbor is a 1-block stroll in 1 direction, while Narragansett St., with its restaurants and shops,, was only 2 blocks away. We drove about 10 minutes to Beavertail State Park to enjoy the ocean views, taking comfortable fold-up chairs provided by Lisa. She also provides umbrellas and beach towels to borrow. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, Jamestown and the Lionel Champlin House are the perfect choices. We felt like we had turned the clock back to a time where people (even strangers) were kind to each other. We encountered lots of waves and smiles, and were made to feel warmly welcomed. Lisa embodies this same spirit, and we were very grateful to have been able to share her home. We are definitely planning a return trip, as we feel that the fall and winter would be equally nice times to visit.…
I Have stayed stayed at Lionel Chaplin Guest House many times. It is a Lovely place to stay! Downtown Jamestown is a short walk from the House. The rooms are all beautifully furnished each one has its Own personality! The smell of fresh coffee in the morning Drifts up the stairs into your room provided Daily with a fresh baked item and fresh fruit.Lisa the owner is a wonderful person who makes you feel at home the minute you arrive!I have stayed at many places this is by far my favorite!
Three of us stayed with Lisa for three nights. Our rooms/bathrooms were spotless, as was the entire Guest House. We loved the comfy front porch and spent a lot of time out there, especially in the evenings. It's only a block from the water. Lisa doesn't offer a full hot breakfast, but we had enough to eat so that we didn't have to go out for breakfast. A baked good was offered each morning (blueberry muffins, corn bread, peach cobbler). There was also coffee, tea, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt available. Freshly baked ginger cookies in the afternoons. She even provided gluten free bread and gluten free cookies for one of us who has celiac disease. So quiet at night!! Would highly recommend!! You won't be disappointed
Recently stayed at LCGH..December 2020-January 2021 in the lovely third floor apartment with views of Narragansett Bay, Newport, and the Newport/Pell bridge. Enjoyed the spectacular sunrises from the multiple windows facing the Bay. Beautiful accommodations and hospitality. Thank you Lisa for making me feel so welcomed. This is a special place to stay while enjoying Jamestown and the surrounding communities.
