First off, the pictures do not match reality at all. There were holes in the walls when we got there, dirt already on the floor and beds, and the room truly looked as if no one had stayed there or maintained it in years. The restaurant, bar and pool were all closed and had been for some time, a detail conveniently not posted anywhere on their site or google. The last straw was finding bugs in the room after being there for only a few hours. I promptly reported this and returned both of my room keys. I asked that I be refunded as I was not going to (and did not) stay at that hotel for the two nights I had booked. The hotel staff confirmed that there were bugs but because they weren’t the same kind of bugs I reported that it didn’t count? They told me a manager would call to discuss the issue however I haven’t received any call. The staff was kind enough until I reported the bugs, at which point they became very rude. When I called back the next day to follow up the person who answered said they would take my name and number and then promptly hung up on me, I called back again only to be told they’re were “too busy” to deal with my issue. This was hands down the worst hotel stay I have ever had, I ended up staying at the Days Inn in Pottstown which was cheaper per night and much better in regards to the quality of my stay.

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my entire life. This review is lengthy, but please read to save yourself from going through the same unacceptable experience I just went through. I booked this room last-minute through Hotwire based on its 3-star rating. I typically book 4 or 5 star; unfortunately there were no 5-star properties in Reading that day (at least available through Hotwire, which is the third-party service I have used without issue for years). There was one 4-star property listed - however, that was right around $200/night - if you know Reading, PA, you know that $200 is far too much for pretty much any property there. After we checked in, we went to the building in which our room was located after a drive around the complex during which we noticed MANY broken windows, trash, debris, and abysmal conditions. The outside door to the building did not latch or even close properly, there was trash strewn inside the entrance in and the hallways, and everything was in disrepair. Upon opening the door to the room, we were met with an absolute wave of oppressive heat. We soon discovered that the thermostat read EIGHTY FIVE degrees and there was not one bit of cool air coming out of the filthy vent. I tried calling the front desk from the room phone and it rang with a fast busy, so we went back to the front desk to complain about the AC. Once I got to the desk, the clerk admitted that the AC was broken in most of the buildings in the complex. For what reason they would book people into a room with broken central air IN JULY without at least mentioning it at check-in is beyond me. After asking incredulously if there were NO rooms with working AC, and after a flippant offer of the standing floor fan behind the desk because the clerk 'was leaving in 20 minutes and did not care' I was told there were rooms in another building that had window units, and we were moved to that room. After another trek around the property, and with some guidance from the maintenance man, who told us he could fix AC, but they weren't able to get parts (this was a slightly different story from his original remarks in the lobby that 'they've called for repair and no one can come out until Tuesday'), we went into another filthy building, up a set of concrete stairs, and into a room that was barely less oppressively hot than the original room. The window unit had been turned off, but the maintenance man turned it on and assured us that it would cool down the room in 20 minutes or so. My friend and I took him at his word, having felt a bit of cool air come out of the AC unit, and left for dinner. We returned to the hotel around midnight, pulling up to our building to see a group of misfits, for lack of any other way to say it politely, speaking with a policeman who had parked his police car at the building entrance. We did not see crime scene tape, which surprised me, to be honest. As we approached the building, I asked the cop if there was anything that we needed to be concerned about with all this, and some girl (possibly affiliated with the hotel, but I really don't know) said there wasn't, and the cop did not say otherwise, so we proceeded in past the trash, cigarette butts, unlatched/unsecure door, and into our room - where we were treated to what I estimate was about 75-80 degree air. The window AC was definitely NOT fully operational. We somehow managed to sleep a few hours, despite a lot of noise, people banging into walls, and what seemed like it might be residual domestic dispute-type nonsense after the departure of the policeman. At check-out, the same clerk was present from the previous day. She asked about the AC, and I said it was not working properly. We had noticed, in fact, that the window unit in the room nearby ours (as we were leaving that building), was running continuously. Ours had not been. I'm not an HVAC tech, but perhaps a compressor problem. I don't know. Frankly, I don't care. I told the clerk that I cannot understand what meth lab/crack house rating system anyone is using to have given this place 3 stars, and that it was barely 1 star, if that. She laughingly agreed after incredulously asking, 'this is rated 3 stars?!' In response to my comments about the police activity outside our window the previous night, she casually commented that the police are there often. I contacted Hotwire upon my return home that afternoon. This hotel had cost me about $150. If it had truly been a 3 star, I would have still thought that was pricey for Reading, particularly this area. Having lived in Reading 20+ years ago, I don't hesitate to acknowledge it's not the most glamorous of destinations. However, I did not necessarily contact them to dispute the money. Although my booking specifically noted that one of my amenities was AC (which was not afforded me in the initially assigned room, and only half afforded me in the poorly functioning window-unit room), it really is more about wanting to make sure that Hotwire (and whatever other service is booking rooms at this establishment) knows about the completely unacceptable and purely disgusting conditions of the property. As I was sitting here waiting for the Hotwire rep to contact the hotel to see if they would authorize a refund - something that I had not requested, but would have absolutely accepted given this experience - I spent time reading the other reviews here and learned of the drug, prostitute, gang, etc., issues at this property. Eye-opening to say the very least. I am anxiously awaiting my hotwire survey to implore them to adjust this property's rating. Honestly, I do not think that they should even include it as an option at ANY star rating. Ultimately, the hotel (Clariz, I am told, was the contact person at the property) did not honor the Hotwire rep's request to refund this - so they can keep my $150. I will hopefully cost them that paltry sum many, many times over by telling everyone I know who even thinks about staying in Reading to stay far, far away from this place. Please do yourself the favor of staying away. The only positive things I can say about this is that 1. we were not murdered in our sleep, and 2. my vehicle still had all four of its tires in the morning. At 1am, I seriously doubted either of those scenarios would be true. My only regret is that, in my haste to get off the property as quickly as possible and put this disastrous experience behind me, I failed to take pictures of the many, many examples of the horrendous condition of the property. Should you be in the area, I'm sure you'd easily be able to see these conditions for yourself.

When we checked in we noticed employees outside the hotel smoking and on their cell phones. As well as full garbage bags along with trash littering the parking lot and around the hotel in the bushes. Saw two drug deals happening as will as women for hire. Room was a non smoking room but you could taste the cigarettes' smell. Drain was clogged in the bathroom. Where to spend two nights in the dump only spent one.

Booked our room 3 weeks before our trip. Got to the inn and we were not in their computer. When you walk in the door all you can smell is Marijuana. Took an hour plus to get booking into the system. Got to the room it was filthy. The water would not stop in the tub. The air conditioning did not work. The television was not hooked up. Left at 7 the next morning Got back at around 11 that night our room door was propped open. There was no chamber services performed when I called the front desk I was told "that's the first I've heard of this". There was garbage all over the parking lot. Excessive traffic in and out at all hours. Loud congregation of people hanging out next to the entrance smoking, listening to loud music for hours into the night. Little children running around in the parking lot without having supervision. Do not let the written description on their website mislead you. This is not a nice place to stay.

Hard to believe Hotwire associates itself with this hotel. Absolutely disgusting. No lobby, no housekeeping, awful smell in hallways and room, no amenities, no air conditioning, filthy. You check in through a slit in a window, are handed your key, and then you're on your own. Pictures will reveal what looks to be blood stains and semen on the chair, filthy, stained rug, missing knobs and magic markered dresser, bloody spittle from previous tenants in the sink. Do not ever stay here, no matter how cheap.

Very nice big rooms. Rooms seem newly renovated. Quiet place and everything is near by. Love Spanish food in the area. Hote staff very friendly knows the area. I wish restaurant was open at the property but staff said they are planning to reopen but covid is delaying the process.

Smell of weed, dog crap, mildew. Drug deals, hookers, weird people milling around all the time. Cars in and out all hours. Stale cigarette odor, broken TV. I have to admit, my room was warm and clean. Slept with my knife. Hotel staff less than helpful. Creepy feel to the whole stay.

I enjoyed my stay here while i was traveling over the holidays. When seeing the reviews, I was hesitant, but I do not regret my decision to stay here. They are remodeling, but the room I was in was very clean and modern. Staff was very pleasant and nice from the moment I checked in to the the time I checked out. If I needed anything a housekeeper would be able to help me, or I would just have to call the front desk. I will stay here again when I come to visit family.

My brother is a Veteran - served in the Navy, Army, and National Guard, with 2 tours in Iraq/Afghanistan. He has 2 service dogs because of his service connected disability due to his combat experiences. His room was pre-paid for a week before arriving and because of his service animals they gave him a room in the worse building on the property. There were roaches on the walls and mice traps everywhere. The smell in the building and the room was horrible! I explained to the front desk woman (which is a walk-up window inside a wooden box) that my brother is a Veteran with multiple health issues and needed to be switched to a different building. She called the manager, SUCHIT PATEL, who advised her that because my brother had his service dogs he would not be moved to another building and if he did not like the room then he could check out - without a refund. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE - THANK A SOLDIER! My brother and every Veteran in the military - past and present - have put their lives on the line and also given their lives for the freedom of every person in this country. However, most people Including the rude manager, SUCHIT PATEL, find it so easy to discriminate against a Veteran because of their disability. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!!
