Whatever your rate, expect to pay more in hidden amenity fee. My bill had an amenity fee, not published anywhere, when I called to question it I was told it was because they had restaurants and a pool and it is on EVERYONE'S bill. Pretty good scam. They have yet to take the charge off. Also, and not a big deal. No "welcome" from the front desk when checking in. No, "thank you, safe travels" when checking out. I don't care about that, but it would be nice - maybe that would mean a "Courtesy Fee" on the bill! Skip this place and stay at the many similarly priced non Choice hotel places in the area.

Hotel's Favorite
My partner and I stayed here for one night because we wanted to go to Mohegan Sun Casino and did not want to stay there because of the price. Honestly we happy with this hotel for the price. We stayed mid-week on Wednesday. The person behind the desk changed our room without our request to a room on the first floor by the outdoor walkway and gardens. our sliding glass door opened up to a pleasant and relaxing walkway. HINT: if you are staying during the nice weather ask for a room on the first floor in the main building with the room door to the garden. I say this because it is shaded, relaxing and gives you easy one minute access to the outdoor pool, the on-site restaurants and the decks that over look the small brook. We were there on Wednesday and the on-site restaurants were open believe it or not. They have a few from sit-down to very casual pizza/bar setting. We ate at the Shogun restaurant to have a bit of fun (if you have kids and want to brighten up their night eat here). The food was good and the chef at your table gave you a few laughs. I was impressed that the sashimi was fresh and delicate. The garden walkway brings you to the porch overlooking the outdoor pool and then in you go to the different restaurants. A bar, a quick bite to eat like a brick oven pizza then going further in you have a few other restaurants and outdoor sitting areas. Take your drink and sit on the deck just above the babbling brook right below you. The setup of the different rooms was enjoyable because it was off-set and not just a block of rooms. Stairs leading to different levels etc. It was actually an experience compared to a regular hotel with hallways to the rooms. It was so nice to have a bar and restaurants right there. Have a few drinks, enjoy the outdoors, let the kids wonder around the gardens and just a few steps from there is your room. The staff if friendly and help you. The indoor pool was enjoyable (the water was actually warm) and the indoor spa - well the spa was being renovated when we were there but I have to tell you that compared to any hotel I have stayed at this spa was HUGE and designed very nicely. Again, for the money my partner and I were content. Compared apples to apples to other hotels charging the same money this one is by far better in my book and I have stayed at many hotels in my life even overseas in other countries. The best thing about this hotel is that when you open the door to your room and walk in - after that you don't feel trapped in a block of rooms and a parking lot. There is openness and the layout is nice. The virtual tour available on their site is pretty accurate showing the amenities etc. Except the "Pool" tour is actually the spa tour (error). I took a few pictures but for some reason I can't find them other than three. But again the virtual tour does pretty well represent the layout of the hotel. They do have a shuttle to the casino but only on Friday and Saturday but the drive is only minutes with your vehicle. We live in Carbondale which is only about 40 minutes away. We wanted to be able to go to the casino and have a bit of fun, then stay at the hotel so we could have a few drinks without having to drive home. We were pleased with this hotel for what we expected. Again, ask for a room in the main building, ground floor with the sliding glass door (from your room) to the garden - especially if you have kids!! Easy access to the bar, resturant, lounge, pizza place, entertainment, decks near the brook and the outdoor pool. We will be staying there again when we go back to Mohegan Sun Casino. One thing, bring slippers to use while in your room. The room we had only had a hardwood (fake hardwood) floor, no carpet so slippers would be useful. I can understand why they don't have carpets in the rooms. I don't know about the other rooms though. I don't think you will be disappointed with staying here.

So I was excited to stay in this hotel; I had an opportunity to stay somewhere else for free but I pre-paid this and, like I said, excited to stay here. Honestly, I should have cancelled when I had the opportunity. So, the site promised me a king sized room with blackout curtains and maid service (upon request). The first room I was given was in the basement next to the pool. I could feel the steam from the pool in the room and my window was street level. Um, no. I do not want to stay in a street level room. The next room was not much better - on the first floor but next to the ice machine. I just took it because the front staff was overwhelmed and I was tired after working all day. So I had no blackout curtain and a light shone thru all night long. The rooms are close and people are noisy (which I understand is not the hotel's fault - that is just life). The room was very small and the furniture was outdated. My door was broken but I was able to lock it. The closet is just an open area with a curtain over it. But the bed was comfortable as promised and the room was clean. The bathroom was ok, not much counter space. Second day I came back to my room after working 12 hours and my keys did not work. I had to go to the front desk and wait for 15 minutes since there was only 2 people working. When I got back to my room. the room wasn't cleaned (no maid service as promised per website). I called the front desk and a young lady brought towels and told me that she would speak to someone about it. I told her about the door and I also said that my husband would be joining me the following and last day and could I please have maid service and fresh towels. She assured me that it would not be an issue. On my way to work the third day, I stopped at the front desk and requested service again just in case the young lady forgot. A gentleman wrote the request and I thought it would be settled. My husband arrived and I asked him if the room had been cleaned and if there were clean towels. Nope. Nothing. Nada. He made the bed and went to get fresh towels. I tried to call the hotel from work for 30 minutes straight. No one answered. I did get the general manager phone number and called her only to find out that her last day had been the previous day. What in the world. My husband said just forget it and focus on what was good about the hotel. Ok, fine. I went back to the hotel after work and guess what? My room keys did not work again. And no - key was not near credit card or magnetic anything... So, that was my experience. Very disappointing weekend and will not visit this overly priced hotel ever again. BTW I paid over $500 for the 3 nights expecting hotel comforts but it felt more like a motel...

I have always been a fan of the woodlands! But I have to admit this stay was very very bad. The Front desk staff was all-stars the bartenders and wait staff incredible. The Food was terrible and I always enjoyed the food in the woodlands. But this cook was an eye full he showed no energy in getting the food out my burger was weird taste and look my wife salad sat under the heating lamp and we waited for an hour for our food. Before the woodlands response yes you had a wedding which had nothing to do with the cook he had time to stay on his phone go outside come back etc. The wait staff and bartender had to tell him we were waiting on our food. Lucky we ran into a friendly face who we have known for years Chris Mims who offered us another meal which he offered to cook! But in our eyes that was not fair, he was very busy with events so just him offering was enough. But this young man's energy was not great leaning over the food and poking his pen in the cold products is not a great look. I'm a retired chef if you can lean you can clean because you were not preparing our food. He was not the woodlands standard like when Rick or Ross owned the hotel. And our bed was hard we woke up in pain. But over all The Staff and Breakfast cook were awesome.

Sunday afternoon, 3 people at the bar and they have no clean glasses to pour draft beer, bartender looking everywhere for something to use, finally offers up some kind of jar. This is a resort? Supposedly a sports bar, and there are no televisions on?

This is a very unique place. From the lovely stream side location with its bridal garden & beautifully dramatic sedimentary rock formations, to the zig zaggy architecture & balconies overlooking the water, the on-site restaurants, included breakfast buffet ❤️🤓 to the very dog friendly accommodations, perfect for our pup, I have to say we are quite delighted to have found this place. Our room is very clean & simple, & while not the ritz, it’s very comfy & more than adequate, obviously recently updated with well designed bathrooms, awesome hot water shower with great pressure (the highlight of my day) & really nice toiletries. It’s also a bonus to have a new fridge to put our travel groceries in & a new coffee machine & microwave! Admittedly the first floor glass doors to the courtyard will need an upgrade but the convenience of being able to pop directly outside to take the dog to the shady green doggy courtyard for relief is excellent. We also enjoyed our dinner at the Crescendo Restaurant very much. The server was cheerful & accommodating, the menu was perfect, the house wine was really tasty, the environment pleasantly open with intriguing colorful art work on the walls. The Woodlands is also ideally located to break up our long commute from Maryland to the our vacation home in the NY Adirondacks & is an excellent value. I expect the Woodlands will become our regular stop from now on.

Do NOT stay here if you want to keep your sanity and health. From the moment I checked in to the moment I finally got the hell out of here, this place was a living nightmare. I should have turned around and walked right out the moment I saw that mission brown paint and loose electrical wire dangling down precariously across the entrance. As far as the room goes: The TV had 10 working channels of which half were mostly static The coffee machine they had in the room flooded the bench it was on after each use The hand rail in the bathroom was broken away from the cheap plastic surround The toilet backed up the first time I flushed it and flooded into the edge of the room The bed was decent, yet the sheets gave me a slight red rash on my neck for 2 days A damp, almost mildew like smell wafted towards me from the rooms cooling vents. To top tit all off the staff were extremely rude and the manager even worse. They took no responsibility for their facilities shortcomings and instead stared at me blankly as I explained the issues I faced before telling me they couldn't do anything -as all their rooms were booked. So now, as promised to the rude hotel manager, after returning from my trip to the USA, I think it is safe to say that this in INDEED the worst place I stayed at out of 20+ hotels across the USA, Mexico and Jamaica, some of which were only rated 1-2 stars. Yes it's that bad. How on Earth this place gets the rating it does astounds me and all I can think is that once upon a time in a dimension far away from this known existence this place used to actually be a decent hotel before it went to the.. proverbial.. you know. what. The list of things they need to fix here before I would ever contemplate walking through the door again is extensive, so instead I wholeheartedly recommend this place to be swiftly inspected by the proper authorities, closed and demolished.

Most importantly, this is not a chain hotel. It’s a family-run business. The friendly staff works hard to keep it going. Krissy is absolutely amazing. We didn’t know about the airport shuttle—which you’re supposed to book when you make your reservation—until we arrived. The general manager personally drove to the airport to pick up my partner. It’s that kind of place. CONS: The rooms are small, the windows don’t open, and the bathroom has minimal ventilation. After you take a shower you’ll have to prop your door open. PROS: The staff is friendly and helpful. The real wow factor is when you go to the terrace overlooking the brook. There is no place better to have your morning coffee. Don’t expect state-of-the-art accommodations, but it’s cute and pleasant.

This place is amazing and a staff member here by the name of Krissy went above and beyond helping us out from the moment we walked in. She met all of my expectations and was very polite and amazing to me and my family. She greeted my kids every time we passed by and also made sure we got full services every day we were there. I’m really proud that TheWoodLandsResort has hired Krissy. Thanks for having her once again I will definitely be back asap.

The room was very minimalistic. The only decoration was a mirror on one wall all other walls were bare. Closet was an indention on the wall with two hangers no door. Iron and Ironing board next to it in another indention in the wall no door. No place to put toiletries in the shower but the floor of the shower. Shelves across from toilet to put any toiletries. Pool view was what we booked which was actually what they referred to as a garden view. That means trees and rocks. Outside pool was covered in leaves and was slightly green. Indoor pool you could smell the chlorine before you got to the pool. Indoor Pool looked really nice but in a basement which was very dark. Not the couples get away we hoped for. We left early.
