Place had a great view from room the balcony as we stayed on the stream side but that was about it. Room was just okay but the floor was filthy and appeared to have a huge blood stain on carpet. Saw it 2nd night, covered with a towel. Shower had no door so water got all over floor. Never in my life saw the type of faucets which were horrible in an effort to control the flow of water. Hotel shuttle to casino was great! Dinner in Japanese restaurant was good, service excellent. Lunch in bar was good as well. Not happy, that copy of invoice as they promised to send was never received. After dinner, went to got to bar for drinks and was told a $5 cover!!!! Seriously, after spending hundreds on a room, hundred + for dinner, you're gonna charge me $5 to hear a lousy band for 10 minutes???? Honestly will not stay here in the future.

Hotel's Favorite
My partner and I stayed here for one night because we wanted to go to Mohegan Sun Casino and did not want to stay there because of the price. Honestly we happy with this hotel for the price. We stayed mid-week on Wednesday. The person behind the desk changed our room without our request to a room on the first floor by the outdoor walkway and gardens. our sliding glass door opened up to a pleasant and relaxing walkway. HINT: if you are staying during the nice weather ask for a room on the first floor in the main building with the room door to the garden. I say this because it is shaded, relaxing and gives you easy one minute access to the outdoor pool, the on-site restaurants and the decks that over look the small brook. We were there on Wednesday and the on-site restaurants were open believe it or not. They have a few from sit-down to very casual pizza/bar setting. We ate at the Shogun restaurant to have a bit of fun (if you have kids and want to brighten up their night eat here). The food was good and the chef at your table gave you a few laughs. I was impressed that the sashimi was fresh and delicate. The garden walkway brings you to the porch overlooking the outdoor pool and then in you go to the different restaurants. A bar, a quick bite to eat like a brick oven pizza then going further in you have a few other restaurants and outdoor sitting areas. Take your drink and sit on the deck just above the babbling brook right below you. The setup of the different rooms was enjoyable because it was off-set and not just a block of rooms. Stairs leading to different levels etc. It was actually an experience compared to a regular hotel with hallways to the rooms. It was so nice to have a bar and restaurants right there. Have a few drinks, enjoy the outdoors, let the kids wonder around the gardens and just a few steps from there is your room. The staff if friendly and help you. The indoor pool was enjoyable (the water was actually warm) and the indoor spa - well the spa was being renovated when we were there but I have to tell you that compared to any hotel I have stayed at this spa was HUGE and designed very nicely. Again, for the money my partner and I were content. Compared apples to apples to other hotels charging the same money this one is by far better in my book and I have stayed at many hotels in my life even overseas in other countries. The best thing about this hotel is that when you open the door to your room and walk in - after that you don't feel trapped in a block of rooms and a parking lot. There is openness and the layout is nice. The virtual tour available on their site is pretty accurate showing the amenities etc. Except the "Pool" tour is actually the spa tour (error). I took a few pictures but for some reason I can't find them other than three. But again the virtual tour does pretty well represent the layout of the hotel. They do have a shuttle to the casino but only on Friday and Saturday but the drive is only minutes with your vehicle. We live in Carbondale which is only about 40 minutes away. We wanted to be able to go to the casino and have a bit of fun, then stay at the hotel so we could have a few drinks without having to drive home. We were pleased with this hotel for what we expected. Again, ask for a room in the main building, ground floor with the sliding glass door (from your room) to the garden - especially if you have kids!! Easy access to the bar, resturant, lounge, pizza place, entertainment, decks near the brook and the outdoor pool. We will be staying there again when we go back to Mohegan Sun Casino. One thing, bring slippers to use while in your room. The room we had only had a hardwood (fake hardwood) floor, no carpet so slippers would be useful. I can understand why they don't have carpets in the rooms. I don't know about the other rooms though. I don't think you will be disappointed with staying here.

Don't let the pictures fool you, like they do a lot of people. We left the next day, after booking 3 nights there. The rooms are dingy, dirty, stained, broken and moldy. You could smell poop coming from the toilet. I never even knew that could happen. They try to cover up the smell with carpet refresher, but it doesn't work. I don't think the carpets have ever seen soap and water. The rooms, ugh! The patio doors don't lock, the couch is so old it is sunken to the bottom and there is dirt build up on the back rest and where you sit. The recliner seat was busted and the mattresses were hands down the worst things I've ever experienced. I have a bad back and they were so worn in and lump, I felt my back would go out. The "pull out couch" was even worse. I know they aren't good to begin with, but geez. The "kitchen" was disgusting and so broken down. And the staff, they do not care. And it's not their fault that they are that way, they are just a mirror of their management. It's a shame. I'm sure this place was amazing at one point, but that time has since left. It needs a serious SERIOUS upgrade and cleaning. Please do not waste your time and energy booking this hotel. I've seen reviews like this before, for this place and I wish I would have listened. Save yourself the trouble. We left the next day and the front desk worker didn't even question why we were leaving early, just gave us the difference back that we paid. That alone says a lot. It's a shame, it looks like it used to be a nice place. Honestly the people who own and operate this place should be ashamed and embarrassed of it. It's a true disgrace.

The grounds of this hotel make the trip and stay worthwhile. It backs up into a mountain with a lovely bubbling creek that you can hear from your room... that makes it feel like glam-camping. The rooms are nice, the service good and the staff is accommodating. The good and the bad is that this is a location that seems to have sprouted at different points which involves a lot of connecting levels and stairs - so if you have an issue with this it will be difficult for you to get around and truly enjoy your stay. It seems popular and with several events happening at once from weddings to Police Dept. Banquets. Unfortunately this can also bring a bit of shadiness to it and we experienced a very disconcerting moment when around 4:00 in the morning we heard a woman running down the hall and her terrifying blood curdling scream in a creole language as if someone was really trying to hurt her. I recommend staying in the rooms that are just behind the front desk #120s before the back stairs as these rooms back up into the Creek area. I would return since it is a beautiful location - just be aware it comes with a bit of a dark side sort of like visiting New York City...

This place has seen its day. Housekeeping is terrible, hallways smell like garbage and mold, every piece of equipment in the gym was broken, no water pressure on our floor, staff unfriendly, and our comforter had blood on it.

We stayed one night. Hubby & his bandmates performed in the nightclub. We liked our room, except that the fridge & the air conditioner were noisy and prevented us from getting a good night sleep. The couple in an adjacent room were arguing (around 1 a.m.) & we heard every word. There were other inconsiderate guests who let their door slam and/or talked loudly while passing by our room.

Upon check in the girl basically said your prepaid I need a card for any additional charges. Didn't ask if I had been there before which I had't I booked hotel last minute. The room blinds were broken, toilet didn't flush and door did not have a dead bolt or a do not disturb sign. Door was so thin, you could hear everything in the hall, especially the people fighting at 2 am next to my room, which I had to call the front desk once it actually got physical. I was prepared to explain all this to the desk at check out but they took my key card and said nothing. Didn't ask how my stay was because frankly they don't care! The parking is a joke, apparently there's a night club which I didn't know which takes up all parking in the evening drove around for 20 min looking for a space. If there's a restaurant I have no idea because they didn't have a property flyer or book in the room. Worst stay EVER!!!

Where do I start!? I plan a trip to the woodlands just about every couple of months lol. I am a nature lover and it has the most beautiful and relaxing atmosphere inside and out. If you enjoy the sounds of trickling water by the stream, you enjoy hibachi, indoor/outdoor pools, Belgian waffles and friendly staff, then this is the place for you! My family loves it! It's a place for all ages. The indoor pool closes at 10pm, there's a night club on site open on the weekend and also a spa and a casino just a shuttle ride away!

My family and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days at the Woodlands Resort. Our room was located very close to the outdoor pool. Here is a list of pros and cons: Pros: - There are rooms with glass doors that open up right to the outdoor pool. - Both restaurants had a great variety of food and offered great happy hour and lunch specials. - Nice indoor and outdoor bars with great drink specials. - They have music play certain nights in the indoor and outdoor bars. - There is a night club open on the weekend if you like dancing. - The scenery is very nice and there is a nice stream located on the property. - They offer free breakfast to guests Monday through Friday. Cons: - The heater was broken for the outdoor pool and it was cold. - The indoor hot tub was also broken. - The indoor pool is located in a very dark room, but it was heated. - The hotel rooms near the outdoor pool are very small and there is barely any closet space. - The pool only had two tables with umbrellas, but there were lounge chairs all around the pool. - The pool is surrounded by trees so there is not much direct sunlight. The sun does peak through in certain places throughout the day but you have to move around the pool to catch it . The shade is nice, but with a cold pool I would have liked less shade. Final thoughts: Our family of 4 stayed in the room. It was two adults and a 14 and 15 year old. They made us pay an extra 10 dollars for each child per night. After they told me about the charge I asked if they will then provide a roll away bed and they said it would be an extra 10 dollars a night for it. This then then raised our price per night by 30 dollars. When I first booked the price seemed economical but after adding all the fees for our children and then dealing with broken pool heater and hot tub, and the small room I am not sure the price was worth it. I heard the hotel was recently taken over by a new company so hopefully they will fix some of the problems and update some of the rooms.
