Located in the beautiful mountains just minutes from the PA Grand Canyon, this 44-room motel will make you feel at home. We offer extended stay suites, apartments, king Jacuzzi, house suites, 2 beds and single queen rooms. We have an indoor pool and sauna room and are within walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. Everything looked to have been recently renovated. Great indoor pool that was large, set to a perfect temperature and towels are provided in your room for pool use. There is also a lift to provide pool access to those with mobility issues which I think is a great feature that you don't see often enough. There is no longer a hot tub but that wasn't a concern for us. There is a sauna, locker rooms, and work out area adjacent to the pool. Though we didn't use these amenities, they were also clean and well kept. The area is quiet and we heard no traffic noise from our room. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows, water gets hot and has great pressure, and the towels were thick and fluffy. Overall it was a great place to stay and the price was quite reasonable. If we are ever in the area again we will gladly stay there.

This was our second stay at the motel - the first was an summer trip for a couple of days to Pine Creek Gorge. This time around we stayed in an extended room for a couple of nights because everything else non-smoking was booked up due to area events during the weekend. The cost was about $30 more for the stay over the basic rooms, but it paid for itself with being able to use the included extended stay features to save on food money.
The extended stay rooms include basic pots and a pan, along with a crock pot, toaster, pasta strainer, dishes, drinking glasses, and utensils. There is also a two burner electric stove top and a full size refrigerator with freezer. Like the basic rooms, a microwave is also included. There is also a sitting room with sofa and TV, along with a TV in the bedroom. There is a semi-private patio in the front, and another patio in the back with access via the bedroom.
The beds were comfortable and accommodated our family of four quite easily. The sofa in the sitting room also pulls out into an additional bed. The room was clean and the windows allowed for plenty of natural light in the sitting room and bedroom. The staff was friendly and pleasant as always. The motel is located just off of the main street, so there are plenty of shops and restaurants, including the famous Wellsboro diner within easy walking distance. Several business also offer discounts to motel guests, which we made use of as well.
The only complaint I can think of is that neither window had screens, so we weren't able to open the windows for the fresh mountain air. We certainly are planning a longer stay next time to really make use of the extended stay rooms, as our current trip was only for a couple of nights. The motel is more mid-level priced, so more expensive than the budget motels/hotels we usually seek out for our vacations, but the additional cost is well worth it considering the overall package and location of the motel.

Just stayed here on September 20, 2020. I am always leery staying at a non-chain motel. I have now stayed twice at the Canyon Motel over the last several years. Both times it was very clean and comfortable. It is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in downtown Wellsboro. It is a short drive to the PA Grand Canyon.

Was really disappointed considering all the great reviews I read before booking! It was old with cheap updates, there was a funky smell that was almost overpowering. The walls are so thin you can hear the conversations of your neighbors. We stayed in room 122, which has a window that opens up to... a hallway?! The hallway lights were so bright they lit up the room all night even with the curtains closed. There was a large soft spot in the floor next to the bed, and the bed was extremely old and uncomfortable. The a/c unit was strangely located in the bathroom, so to make it a decent temperature in the room you have to make it extremely cold in the bathroom. They use actual keys instead of key cards, which is unsafe especially for women/children traveling alone. The good: The front desk person was very friendly and the check in/out process was easy. Parking was pretty plentiful, and the location is great. We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice.

The room was clean, updated and well maintained. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Motel is located about 10 minutes from Colton Point Park and Leonard Harrison State Park for all of the PA Grand Canyon points of interest. Town of Wellsboro is charming with several resturant options, fast food, grocery store and a nearby Dunkin Donuts. Under normal circumstances the unique shops and antique stores would have been open but with Covid 19 restrictions they were not. Would visit here again for the beautiful parks and for sure another stay at this motel.

I just returned from a three night stay at this establishment. Two friends and I were on our motorcycles for a scenic tour of the Wellsboro area, and we chose the Canyon Motel as our base of operations. This business is very motorcycle friendly, right down to providing courtesy towels for cleaning our bikes. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms, many of which have been recently renovated, are immaculately clean. The rates are very reasonable. There is an indoor pool, which I did not use, but would no doubt be welcome in hotter weather. The motel also provides suggested scenic motorcycle tour routes of the area. There are many good eating and drinking establishments within easy walking distance. I cannot say enough good things about the Canyon Motel. Thank you for a fantastic stay! I will be back.

We stayed in a queen room that offered a microwave, a small frig with freezer, desk space, and an easy chair to sit in. The bathroom was a nice size with a tub/shower. I think there would have been room for another easy chair as well. The beds were quite soft and while not our preference, we did sleep well! The location is perfect to walk into Wellsboro's main town area with restaurants and shops. It is also close to a Tops food store that we went to a couple of times.

Sorry for the delay in posting this review. A crashed hard drive, misplaced travel notes and life got in the way. We stayed here August 30 to Sept 2, 2020. Checking in was fast and easy. Staff was very friendly offering numerous suggestions on where to go and what to see. The suite was very large with huge sitting area, full kitchen and bedroom. There enough items in the kitchen so that you could make easy meals with little problem. All the appliances worked well. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure to take a shower with. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet so good sleeping was had by all. Wi Fi service was solid and reliable. All with really good rates. A nice stay with a real value. The only complaint here is that the employee smoking area is right under the stairway to the suite. More often than not we had to walk through a cloud of smoking heading to our from our room. This should be looked into an rectified.

Cute little motel right in Wellsboro - walking distance to shops and restaurants. I could tell when I walked in the room that it had been renovated. Very cute and peaceful. Affordable. Comfortable bed. The young man working at the counter had good suggestions for places to eat, and they have a 10% discount at one of the local restaurants. Recommend!

This is my second visit to the Canyon Motel in Wellsboro, PA. Like before, I traveled there by Motorcycle. The hotel is top rate, great location and wonderful staff. They always do their best to make you feel at home. The office has lots of info on things to do in Wellsboro and provides many brochures and maps to help with this ideas. They also offer small towels for those who may need to clean up their motorcycles bug splats or other things that may accumulate on your motorcycle on a long trip. Nice touch. Looking forward to my next visit in a few months! Thank you so much for a nice stay.
