The Keen Family has welcomed RV campers, tent campers, and cottage guests for 70 years. It is as much a privilege today as it was for our parents, James and Dorothy Keen. Every day brings an opportunity to greet a returning friend or to meet a new one. The resort campus includes a 90-acre spring fed mountain lake, a glamping village, pioneer style tent sites, full hook up RV sites. Some sites are located on the water, others nestled among trees and others in shaded areas. Amenities include lake & pool swimming, snack bar, camp store, gift shop pet beach, laundromat, clean bathhouses & Wi-Fi. Family fun includes, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, sports fields, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, game room, organized activities & entertainment. We respect the value of your leisure time. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for all families to reconnect with each other and to connect with the splendor that is the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. It's time to gather at the lake!

This was our first trip to Keen Lake Campground and, in fact, it was my kids' first official camping trip ever! I wanted to do something a bit different for Father's Day and had been thinking about taking the kids somewhere to go camping and I found Keen Lake online back in the early Spring. My wife was specific with what she wanted from a campground....place with clean beds, running water, hot shower and all other amenities that would be considered 'glamping', but I willingly obliged. We opted to book the Laurel Cottage due to it's proximity to the lakefront and because we weren't sure what the weather would do, so we wanted our own space to hang out and watch a movie, if need be. First off, the check-in process was seamless. Everyone was very nice and attentive and we were in our cottage in a matter of 15 minutes from the time we checked in. The cottage was clean and organized, it was exactly as it appeared in the pictures and the kids immediately claimed which bed was theirs. After unpacking the food and other necessities, we walked back (5 minutes) to the office to pick up our golf cart, which we had rented for our stay. It was on the 'main road' that a lot of folks have written about, but traffic was very slow and we did not feel unsafe at all. In fact, most cars simply waiting for us to turn off the road vs. passing us. The golf cart was fully charged (it stayed charged the entire stay) and it was the highlight of the trip for the kids. While we were there, we enjoyed the pool (the water was surprisingly warm, due to 70 degree temps), we rented a 4 person cycle boat and a row boat, we fished basically the entire time we were there (the kids both caught 2 fish each, I caught one!) and made smores each night. We went for a couple golf cart rides around the campground, which was fun. The kids saw a ton of different birds, turtles, snakes, fish, etc. The surrounding sites were generally quiet and we did not have any trouble with noise, despite being next to some of the RV sites. There is plenty of outside furniture to sit on to enjoy the early mornings or late nights. The AC in the cottage worked great, but there were a few portable fans available as well (which we didn't need). We used most all of the appliances, which all worked as expected. All in all, this trip was a memorable one for my family and I will absolutely be coming back in the future. Only criticism I have is with the snack bar food. We ordered a couple pizzas one night (instead of cooking) and they were not very good, at all. They were under cooked, had entirely too much oregano on them (to the point where that's all you tasted) and they didn't have pizza boxes to easily carry them to your site (they had oversized plates that they gave us). This didn't ruin our trip, of course, but just know the snack bar food is 'eh' at best. Again, we were really impressed with the quality of this campground and the variety of things to do. Thanks for making our first family camping trip a success!

We just recently stayed at Keen Lake for the weekend! We stayed on Sites L21 and L22. It was such a beautiful weekend. The campsites were smaller than expected, but we were still able to fit 2 medium/large tents on each site! If you want more room, I suggest renting out 2 sites and next to each other if you're staying on any of the "L" lots. You must pay the $25 to secure that they dont move either of your sites when you are booking though. ***The golf cart rental is a MUST.*** It made it so much easier to go back and forth from the pool/swim area/playground. We had our 1 and 3 year old boys with us. They had a blast! The sun does directly hit the sites all day long, so I would suggest bringing a 10x10 pop up tent for shade. They start to get shade around 2-3pm. The view of the lake is so beautiful, especially in the early morning hours! There is an electrical and water post, but it is down near the water. I highly recommend bringing a surge protector so you can plug more than 1 thing in at a time. I also suggest bringing a long extension cord. This is so if you need to use a fan inside the tent or charge your phone inside the tent, so it doesn't get wet, it'll be able to reach wherever you'd like. Hopefully these tips were helpful! I didn't see the sites before traveling there, so I wish someone had written a review like this for me when I was booking. Overall, it was a great weekend, and we are definitely booking next summer!!

Soooo, my cousin and I share the exact same Birthday and decided instead of hopping on a plane let’s gas up the car and head to Waymart, PA to Keen Lake Resort! When I tell y’all it was super fun and the tent exceeded our expectations! We literally had the experience of camping but in the most feminine boujee way! We’re from The Bronx and had enjoyed our Rustic but still Glamorous trip! There is a fire pit outside, a gas grill so do not buy coal and fluid like we did lol. We had the family tent as there were four of us and the beds are actually very comfy. Lighting inside was perfect, natural and actual lamps, there is plenty of seating space, a fridge and freezer, a cooler and if you keep the tent zipped down you should be good on keeping bugs out. We had a friendly neighbors in their own personal tents in the space next to us. So if you see people coming and setting up shop don’t be alarmed. The bathrooms are actually not bad. The shower stalls are clean and look decent. It’s the porta potty’s that are deceiving lol. I say deceiving because they’re not bad looking. It looks like there is a nice paint job on them but when you get in there whew! Also you have to pay 25 cents to shower. Now, some ppl may complain and say why, but in all honesty, I think it’s a smart idea. People like to waste water, so at least this can kind of make people conscious of how much water they’re running in the wild lol. There are plenty of water sport activities to do and horseback riding near by. Inside of the office is also a cute convenient store with a lot of stuff. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would def recommend Glamping/camping to anyone first time or not at Keen Lake Resort in Waymart, PA.

campground was highly recommended to us by some friends, so I am not sure if we got a bad weekend, a bad spot or just a very different experience.

I will start by saying this place definitely caters to seasonal campers...so much so in some ways we felt rather unwelcome (a feeling I’ve never had in 10+ years of rv’ing). The check in is all done online, which would be fine if there were signs clarifying where to go after you leave the office to get to your site (not well marked in that area of the campground). The roads into and out of the campground are very tight and steep and if you had a long tow behind (or a long driver) I am not sure you would be able to get to your site (not to mention the seasonal folks have decor jutting into the roads as well as cars/golf carts/etc.). I felt like it was tight for us pulling in our 32ft driver, so if you have a longer rig, book with caution! The site we received was in the middle of seasonal sites and as such received a variety of commentary about the fact that we have a class a rv (I think we saw 3 drivers the whole time we were there) and the fact that we were just staying for a few days (they had a nice nickname for us).

The campground itself was OK, as I mentioned most of the sites are seasonal and some were rather run down. There seemed to be plenty of activities for kids and a dog beach. Many people had their pets with them. I was a bit disappointed that it called out on their website and on the check in paperwork that golf carts were only allowed if a person had a mobility problem, however, every seasonal site had a golf cart (they also used some of our site to park them in when they were attending the kegger across the street). It would have been nice to know that golf carts were allowed (or a blind eye was turned to them) so we could have also have participated, but we were trying to follow the rules. It seemed that generally the rules were waived for the seasonal sites (golf carts, quiet hours, etc.). Additionally, I was rather surprised to learn that in order to launch any sort of water craft you needed to pay 5 dollars/day. I have heard of this for motorized craft but never for kayaks or stand up paddle boards. We paid our fee but ultimately decided not to launch any of the days we were there due to weather, so that was a waste of money.

Ultimately this place is ok, but for the cost, there are many other campgrounds that are a better value where you will feel more welcomed!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am always saddened when we have disappointed a guest and while this apology comes way too late---particularly for the manner in which you were treated by seasonal guests--I make it none the less. You may be happy to hear that those hosting the kegger (which is of course, not permitted) are no longer with us. Golf carts are permitted for all of our seasonal guests as well as for any weekend guest who has health issues .

What an amazing stay we had at Keen Lake. We Family Glamped and the site was picturesque and perfect. The inside of the glamping unit was spotless and overall it had everything that we needed. It was wonderful to have a provided cooler, we waited til we got there and then shopped for the food we would need, one less thing to bring with us. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, bathhouses were clean and well maintained, even better than some hotel rooms I have been in. The lake to swim in is nice, pool gets crowded at certain times of the day but that's to be expected and not a deal breaker. We went into Honesdale for a quick trip to get ice Cream and it had some cute shops and places to eat. We will definitely visit again.

Just got back from a four night stay at a glamping site with friends who stayed at an adjacent site. For middle aged people, this is the way to go. Large, well covered tents, nightstands with lamps, queen bed, Keurig, microwave, fan. Before anyone says this is not camping, you need to know that my family has been tent and pop up camping for over thirty years. Now, in our fifties, we don’t want the effort of setting up and breaking tent equipment. Ten minute unload and load, that’s it. View of lake was awesome. Staff was very friendly. Firewood was delivered to our site for a modest dollar per pack. Some cons to work out are a restroom to camper ratio and moving outhouses further from the glamping sites. But, you can tell that this place is run by women...well organized, welcome mat and flowers at the front step, gracious staff. Just awesome things these women do that men could do better (Yes, I am a married man.).

I heard great things about this campground and was looking forward to our trip and wow was I disappointed. When we arrived no one showed you to your site they just gave you a map sp we proceeded to the area by the lake and there is only one spot available, it does not have the right number on it however the man in said spot said you are next to me because I am here till tomorrow. Check out is 2 pm and it is 3pm so we probably shouldn't of taken his word but we did and started to set up in the only available spot. We are just about done when my phone rings and it is the office to tell us are in the wrong spot and need to move, it is now after 4 pm the gentleman who said he was there till the next day needs to leave ( why did no one check these sites) we tell them we are not moving and they insist we have to because the site is a wee bit bigger and the people coming in will only be there a few days and then a bigger rv will come in ( this did not happen when we left at the end of the week we had the same neighbors) we asked if we were going to get compensated for the day because now 6pm and the man is still not packed up and they said no we will give you some wood.Quiet time is 10 pm there was a cottage 2 sites away and 3 nights till midnight loud screaming and music. The brochure they gave said no swimming in lake only where allowed people were swimming wherever they wanted. I know most camp stores up their prices but a candy bar slim jim and popsicle for 16 dollars is ridiculous. I have never in my life had to pay to get a shower but you did there. I am a walker and unfortunately there is no where to walk or ride your bike.

It is always sadden us greatly when a guest is disappointed, and we clearly failed you on many levels---the most egregious errors was how complicated the move in process became. We know how disappointed you were to have to move to another site after you were set up in another-- Your feedback made it very clear to us that we need to expand the concierge service we provide on Friday and Saturday to other check-in days. You are right on many levels. Security should have taken care of the unruly guests, and yes, we have had a number of guests swim outside the swim areas. It has been a very challenging summer coaxing people to wear masks, social distance, and follow the guidelines we have established. We don't always get it right, but we do get up and try everyday. However, the bottom line is that we failed to meet your expectations, and for that we are profoundly sorry. We have taken your words to heart. I will share this review with my sisters and our staff. We thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and we wish for you many days of happy camping.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We requested 2 lots together with the couple we were camping with and the Keen sisters didn't disappoint. I have one suggestion though re water related activities. Boat rental shed was closed when we showed up at 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon. We rented a 4 person aquacycle inside the office for 1 hr. We were told to grab a life vest from the box on the boat shed porch. There were approx. 1 dozen life vests and they were all child size, nothing to fit us 4 adults. Although we were not required to wear one each person was required to have one with them. This didn't seem to be adequate protection from an accident.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate your candor re the boat shop. In a perfect world, we would have our boat shed open the same hours the office is open, but like most businesses, we are very short staffed. And while, we should have thought of it-- Now that guests are getting their own jackets outside of an attendant's eyes, we definitely should have a better identifying system so guests know whether or not the vests they have are the correct size. I'll be working on that little project tomorrow. Really appreciate your comments!! Best, Jan Keen

We stayed at Keen Lake June 9-12. The camp itself is very well kept with many amenities. As others have stated the sites are extremely narrow. Our neighbor’s campfire was right beside our bedroom but so close we could hear normal volume conversations. Our site was near the activity field so we had to drive our 35’ camper up an extremely steep hill. We made it, but be prepared. The roads to the lake, pool, store, and boat launch are tight and well traveled. There were a lot of seasonal guests and some of them were a bit obnoxious. There was an older man in a red truck who spent most of Saturday night cruising the roads and barking at kids and campers about various things. He did not work there! He spent a lot of time driving by the playground area by the lake which was upsetting as there were lots of kids playing there and he seemed particularly interested in them.
The base price of a camping site only includes two adults. Kids are extra and charged as guests. $4 a day per kid. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered that at any other RV campground. Especially at such a family oriented one. It’s a small fee but still surprising.
There were a lot of great activities. They had the “Olympics” in both the pool and activity area, ceramics, and movie night.
Overall this was an active campground with lots of fun stuff for kids to do and great places to gather, both at the lake and activity area. If the sites were a bit bigger it would be close to perfect.

This was our annual end of summer/Labor Day camping trip. We love to come twice a year (Memorial Day and Labor Day) and have been doing so for years. We camp in tents in the Pioneer section. We get a lakeside site with no hookups (but sites with hookups are available). We thoroughly enjoy camping here. The campground is well run and there are plenty of activities of you wish to participate. There is a pool, lake beach, boat and kayak rentals, and so much more. There are basic bathrooms with showers. Everyone is warm and friendly. Such a great time, especially when the weather holds up. Every site provides a ring for campfires and wood is sold at the store. The lake has different fish if you want to do that. Just an overall great camping trip for the family.
