"Best vacation ever!!" this is what my kids kept saying the whole time we were there. My husband and I along with our three daughters (ages 5, 3, 1) rented the entire White House for 3 nights. The house was great. All of the beds were very comfortable, usually I don't sleep well at all when we go away and I slept great every night here. Kitchen in the White House was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans which came in handy for lunch and dinner, there is a high chair and a toddler chair which was a big plus for us. Right outside the kitchen window is an Amish farm which was an awesome sight to see the horses working on the farm while eating our meals. Playground in the backyard was a great for kids of all ages to enjoy and adults too on the swings, nice and sturdy. The White House was just a short and enjoyable walk up to the farm. I was nervous about it being off a busy street, but to my surprise it didn't bother me at all and the street wasn't as busy as I had anticipated it to be. It was fun to see all the horse and buggys on the street.
We all enjoyed the farm chores followed by a delicious breakfast every morning. The traditions of the farm breakfast are really sweet and it was nice to get to know the farmers and all of the other guests there during this time. The kids absolutely loved playing with, feeding, holding, and just in general being around all of the animals. They could be occupied all day just hanging around on the farm. Us adults also enjoyed just being on the farm, the wide open space, views, smells, and relaxed atmosphere it provided. We left feeling at peace, renewed, and refreshed. We look forward to coming back again real soon and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

This is our 3rd trip to Verdant View Farm Bed & Breakfast. I cannot say enough great things about this place. From the relaxation, room accomodations, the breakfast, the owners hospitality and just the overall experience of being on a real farm, this is a trip worth taking. I love to see my children unplug and play outside with the animals. They also enjoyed spending time with owners doing chores in the morning. There is plenty to see and do off the farm as well. Thanks again for a great stay!!

We really enjoyed our stay at VVF. My toddler and I stayed in the Little White House room 6 which was spacious and comfortable with good working Wifi. There is even a perfect sized rocking chair and picture window for a toddler. It also helped that there were two beds and a bath tub when traveling with kids. Things to be aware of: it’s right on the main road so there is a lot of traffic noise (I’m a light sleeper so it did keep me awake but thankfully the kiddo slept through that). You can also hear the train but it doesn’t run late at night. Also, you need to bring your own shampoo, I didn’t realize that but I did have my son’s baby shampoo so thankfully used that. It was great having a full kitchen and living room downstairs and while there are two other rooms that can be rented out, we were the only ones there at the time and had the whole house to ourselves. We loved doing the farm chores and visiting with the animals. Breakfast was great and there is so much to do in the area (Railroad museum, Strasburg Railroad, Choo Choo barn, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm). We had a blast and would recommend staying here.

Our family of three, including a young child, found the ideal vacation-during-pandemic in Verdant View! We stayed in the little White House, as the only guests in the house for most of the week, which meant we had a kitchen and living room to use. The playground, pond, farm animals, and farm provided plenty of opportunity for the little guy to be entertained (with parental supervision). The staff wore masks and kept socially-distanced as much as possible. (It’s hard to keep distant when teaching a kid to milk a cow.). The farm chores in the morning were a joy, the breakfast gourmet, and our hosts made us feel super welcome. Plus, my son cried for a full half hour after we left because he wanted to go back. A family win!

We wanted to spend some time with our oldest granddaughter who is 4 and staying at Verdant View was the perfect choice. We stayed in room 7 in the little White House, it was a large room that was perfect for the three of us. There was a small table to play games and do puzzles, the bed was very comfy and we had plenty of room for her blowup mattress. You could hear and see the train from the window.
She loved the farm and playing with Scooby and all the farm cats. Everyone made you feel welcome and we even got a little private tour and Ava got to help feed the cows after we had just checked in.
The farm chores in the morning are a must. She had the best time, we all did. She fed cows, bunnies, a pig and goats. She played and made new friends and best of all, no electronics the whole time we were there. Breakfast was very good and the traditions they share make it fun and memorable.
The Verdant View is the perfect place for unwinding and taking time to let kids just be kids. We have already booked our next stay with both of our granddaughters, this time in the farm house, can’t wait.

If I could give more stars I would. Elisa and her farm crew truly offer an amazing and enriching farm experience. Rooms are immaculate and meticulously kept, farm property is beautiful and well maintained. Upon arriving at Verdant View Farm you are greeted by the stunning property and gorgeous view that seems to go on forever. The main house is beautiful with native flowers and plants blooming all around. The veranda (where breakfast is served daily) faces out to the farm where you can see cows grazing in the pasture and hear the subtle cluck of happy chickens.
Morning chores are anything but chores! The farm crew offers the opportunity to learn first hand how to properly milk a cow, feed a part of their herd, look for chicken eggs, and answer any questions.
After morning chores you wash up quick and sit down to a delicious home cooked breakfast on the veranda with all of the guests. Each morning the breakfast is different and is delicious as the next. Expecting a mini box of cereal with a small milk? No way. Be prepared to feed on pasture raised eggs, different types of sausage, home made yogurt and fruit, and of course a sweet pie or cake.
After breakfast you are free to roam the beautiful property, shop in the farm store, and even revisit the animals.
Like I said Elisa and her crew offer an amazing experience. You will not be disappointed.

So in love with this place! You leave feeling like family. We went for a low key vacation, didn’t come in with a plan other than being at the farm since we have 2 little ones (2 and 4 yrs old). We woke up each morning to help with the animals and our kids (and the adults) loved it. We fed the cats, collected chicken eggs, milked cows, fed all the animals - cows, chickens, goats, cats, bunnies, and a new pig! We all had breakfast together and then we just hung out after while the kids played. We did a few local things like the Strasberg railroad but often came back to the house and visited the animals, walked around, and just enjoyed being outside. We stayed in rooms 8&9. It worked out so well. Our kids were in the bunk bed room (my youngest slept in a pack n play in there) and then there was a conjoined bathroom followed by our room. The living room and kitchen we perfect and the playset outside was used by us a ton. We’ll definitely be back again and would love to rent the whole Little White House with other family or friends too!

My husband and I decided to spend a couple of days in the Lancaster area and enjoy some of the activities that had opened. While researching the itinerary, I came across this farm and booked a tour. Despite the pouring rain, we had a great time. The tour guide/farm worker, I believe Lizzy was her name, was so friendly and knowledgeable. We also adored Scooby the farm collie who accompanied us throughout the whole tour and kept us, and him, entertained with ball fetching. I was finally able to check off a bucket list item of mine-milking a cow! It was awesome and we got to feed them too. We visited a chicken coop and held the friendly hens and even saw two freshly laid eggs. We learned about farm work and the bed and breakfast they also run and enjoyed the morning. They also have a store for purchases. It was fun and would highly recommend.

My wife and I took our 8 year old granddaughter for the Farm Tour and it was wonderful ! The two young tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Best of all you can actually milk a cow, play with the chickens, goats and rabbits. Our granddaughter was in heaven. Guides gave some interesting information about the farm and animals. It’s located in a beautiful setting close to Strasburg. We plan on going back.

We have stayed at Verdant View 3 to 4 times. We love the simplicity of staying on a real farm. On one visit, we witnessed the birth of a calf, who we named! The owners, Elise and Patrick, and their little son, Marcus, and Uncle Wendell are extremely welcoming and hospitable - it's more like staying with family. The breakfast, prepared by Lydia, a local Amish woman, is extremely generous (where else do you have dessert with breakfast!). The food for breakfast is very fresh.
The optional chores include gathering eggs from the chickens, milking and petting the cows, visiting the rabbit (altho' sometimes the rabbit is off at an elementary school), holding chicks (in season), feeding the cows/pig/goats/chickens, holding goats (and sometimes getting them to stand on your back), and playing with Scooby (the dog) and the many cats.
The location is picturesque, and the rooms are comfortable and homey. You can watch the Amish buggies on the road and the train from the Strasburg railroad. There's a playground and lots of space for kids to play. It's a great place to unplug and relax.

Thank you, thank you! Your comments express many of the things that we value - the individuals who make the farm possible, the animals who live on the farm, the people who visit the farm, the land/environment, and the relationship between each of these! Thank you for your return visits and for sharing that experience through your written words. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, and we'd love to welcome you back to Verdant View!

Hello, thanks for your inquiry. You can find our pet policy on our website under the B&B Tab > Policies, and I'm copying it below as well. We don't allow pets to join the Farm Tours.
-----------
PET POLICY:
Well-behaved pets (more than 1-year-old) are permitted only in Rooms 8 & 9 (downstairs suite) of The Little White House. We require that the guest bring a crate and that the animal is kept in the crate anytime that they are not together – during breakfast, while sightseeing, etc. The crated pet is necessary so that our housekeeping crew can complete their work as well as minimizing the possibility of damage to property (if a pet should get nervous while their owner is away). Also, the house is shared with other guest rooms, and so an animal that is sensitive to noises and barks frequently wouldn’t do well in this setup.
$20/night fee applies.
Please don’t allow pets on the beds, quilts, or furniture.
Neither pets nor farm animals are permitted in other guest rooms or inside the farmhouse as we have many visitors that come with allergies.
Dogs are welcome to play in the large backyard of the Little White House, but pets are no longer permitted to take walks around the barns, Farmhouse, gardens, or in the back fields. Having your animal on a leash is necessary as they meet other visitors who may or may not be comfortable around pets.
Hello, The answer to your question would garner different answers from different visitors. The farm can be enjoyed for any duration of stay, but some people prefer shorter/longer visits. Breakfast is only served Mon-Sat mornings, and so some families choose to stay certain nights in order to enjoy the farm breakfast. The farm has a 2-night minimum in the summer months and Fall/Spring weekends.
Hi Greg,
Thanks for your interest in visiting our farm. Our B&B rates are based on occupancy and room. For example, Farmhouse Room 3 has a queen bed and private bath and costs $129/night for 2 guests. The rate includes 7:30am morning chores and breakfast. If you'd like access to a kitchen and living room, Room 7 in the Little White House has a king bed and private bath and costs $139/night. You can see photos and book rooms online at our website. Thank you!
Hello. Yes, you may book both rooms 1 & 2 for a family of 6. The rooms are directly adjacent to one another, and the small, shared bath is directly beside Room 2. Each room has a sink in the room, and the bathroom has a shower only. Rates for each room are based on season & occupancy. After selecting your preferred dates on our website, select 3 guests and both Rooms 1 & 2 to receive an accurate quote. I hope that helps!
Our rates vary by room and occupancy. You can see prices, check availability, and book online on our website (which I am not permitted to link to in this response). Be sure to adjust the guest count after selecting your preferred travel dates to be sure to get an accurate price quote. Thanks for your inquiry!
