Family Reunion weekend..you can tell this place has been around but picture memorabilia is unique..rooms are small, bathrooms smaller (some updated, some not-shower was refreshing!!! ) furniture and beds need to be updated (nothing matches)..no USB electronics in room, bring your (wall) cord. Small elevator. Breakfast buffet was typical and good. Staff was friendly. We did archery (free) -which was fun-basic in the woods..guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Axe throwing available for a fee. Husband golfed- rounds was almost 5 hours. We had a dinner (⭐️-1- star rating) buffet style under pavilion with LOTS little flies all over our food (we had end tables near the field) it’s was horrible. The most memorable was the the rafting trip for 45 of us! Although the system for paying (per boat and not per person for such a big group) and signing waivers was not thought out. Brewery on site had a great selection beers! Pretzels ($8) are small, that’s all they had on our visit. Wood oven pizza was good but dry. Backyard games available. Overall it was a fabulous time with family. They made this trip memorable.…
Our trip to Delaware Lodge at Shawnee was a unique and a great experience. The Lodge had great offerings which included guided hikes at 10:00 am every morning. The hike leaders were very enthusiastic and courteous to us. The service offered shuttles buses which was very helpful however if you are single there is no problem. I personally enjoyed the archery and golf cart tour. There were so many other activities which were offered but as our trip was a short one I could not take advantage of all of them I am therefore planning to go back this summer to do the Kayaking tour and other activities. We went here for my birthday and did an overnight golf and stay package. It’s not super fancy, but the setting is so pretty. The golf was great, the staff was friendly, the food was good, not gourmet, but good. Our room was clean (except for the window screen which either needed some attention or to be removed altogether) and had a remodeled bathroom. Small rooms but who hangs out in the room too long? Plenty of space on the porch rocking chairs or at the fire pit down by the water. I enjoyed the piano playing in the lobby at night and could hear it as we ate on the outdoor porch of the River Room. The brew pub on property was good, with plenty of outdoor seating and more fire pits. We didn’t get to have the pizza there, but it looked and smelled amazing. I found it to be a cute little place, loaded with golf history and old time charm. If you expect a vintage atmosphere you shouldn’t be disappointed.…
Super noisy and bad service and rude staff. You Should never come! The front desk never listened to you and room was dirty and old and outdated and bad and smelly. The foods were bad and outside was dark and dirty
This was the worst stay we have ever had and we are world travelers who accept a lot. The hotel was not in good repair yet we were in the NEWLY REMODELED room where the bathroom was a step up --- tripped during the night. In this new bathroom, toilet was literally against the wall and when you sat on the toilet, you were pressing against the wall. The king room had a bed - one chair and furniture that was in poor repair and mismatched. Noise at midnight was from a party under our window where we hear "Everyone having a good time? Let the party begin!" Noise got louder and when I called for help from the hotel staff, it seemed nothing was done. At 3 AM the party was in our hall, outside our door. It was a terrible night. We tried to eat in the fine dining restaurant. Could not hear ourselves talk because of the large party noise. This is a place for party people, not anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the area.…
We chose the Shawnee Inn to enjoy a relaxing mountain escape for a getaway weekend. The inn is lovely both inside and out, a large historic building carefully preserved and situated on acres of green grounds and forests next to the refreshing Delaware River. Yes, the most economical rooms are a bit small and have a step-up bathroom, but the view was pretty and we thought the value was very fair. Because the site is a bit isolated, we selected the meal package, which included a three course dinner and a full hot buffet breakfast. The menu features a great variety of choices and the entrees are large. My rainbow cake was scrumptious! We dined in the comfortable River Room, and then strolled down to the onsite brewery to listen a bit to a live band playing outside. Such fun! Although we did not kayak or tube on the river (which was quite popular!), we did try out the large indoor pool. Golfing is one of the key resort activities. There is also a large library inside for rainy days. All staff were extremely pleasant and gracious. The only negatives we encountered were other guests--a man smoking on the porch although no smoking signs are prominently displayed everywhere; a family who brought alcoholic drinks including glass beer bottles into the pool area, which was not permitted, and parents who allowed little ones to use the hot tub as a kiddie pool. I suppose it is difficult to monitor everyone and enforce the rules, but it is disappointing to see this negative adult behavior. Nevertheless, our stay was wonderful, and we would happily return to this charming property!…
Great facility to stay and play golf. We stayed prior to the Memorial holiday which was not crowded. During our stay there were two weddings. We requested a different room but we’re not provided an alternative. The front porch with rocking chairs were a plus. One night was very noisy due to someone banging on a door. The wait staff at the River Room restaurant were great especially for breakfast. We got to see a bald eagle during the golf tour. The outlet shopping is about 15 minutes away.
Everything was great until it wasn't. Suite was great; missing a hairdryer which housekeeping sent over a portable then an hour after we received that they sent over maintenance to install permanent hairdryer. Did not register as that "off", but in hindsight considering what happened the following evening it may seem more than coincidental. After dinner at restaurant (avg. but covid) we went to the brewery to hang with the maître d' who we connected with previously for a couple beers. Live music & good beer then walk back to room. Mostly unlit pathway by the way which is not terribly disconcerting on it's own, but again in hindsight a little sketchy. Upon arrival at our room (we were pretty tipsy) I noticed the venetian blinds were spun to the right which would let light in from above. I would never leave them as such bc I always spin to left for less light & more privacy. (I know, I am fussy but focused) We go to bed. I wake up in am with nagging certainty I did not spin the blinds & now in morning light notice grass on the floor & upon closer inspection also notice lock on wooden window jamb was splintered. Someone had broken in to the room while we were out. Called front desk for security & they sent out the "head" of security; he arrived; did not ask any questions & did not take pictures until I asked whether he would & he seemed a bit over his head. I assured him that nothing was taken which seemed to me we had arrived at the room in time to surprise would be robber. (or worse) We then cleaned up as we were to check out & went to the hotel to speak with the manager, Robert Howell. Mr. Howell apologized & asked if there was anything he could do which I thought was weird because our room had just been broken into & he seemed non-plussed. I reiterated what I thought happened & Mr. Howell acted & looked as if he just wanted us to go away. We did with his assurance that he would be in touch with any findings and have not heard from him since. Our stay was 8/7/20.…
When you see busses of people coming to a resort, you know its good. We have been coming to Shawnee for forty years, yes forty years, not a type o . She is a beautiful, nostalgic , step back in time for the entire family. Clean, friendly, plenty of activities, dedicated staff all focused on making your time there 100% enjoyable. If you want the glitz, and glamour and also the plastic forget your name in a second atmosphere, then head to Atlantic City or alike. If you want a great fantasy vacation , one to remember as long as I have, then by all means head over to Shawnee and meet Rob Howell the General Manager, and his top notch all professional staff. Tell them John Frunzi sent ya.
Nice, clean and quiet. For the price I didn't expect some things; wallpaper peeling in bathroom or almost falling through the carpeted porch while checking out the view The view was awesome but it was pouring outside so we looked thru the raindrops. Room with a view and king bed. Overpriced small room.
