I just stayed at Cherry Lane this past weekend with 3 friends for the Bird in Hand Half Marathon. Perfect location to the race, restaurants and anything else you have time for when visiting this area. The room was a nice size, 2 queen beds, flat screen tv, clean, had a small refrigerator and microwave. We sat out by the pool on Friday evening - yes they have a really nice sized pool and it was clean with plenty of lounge chairs. We sat and talked and watched numerous buggies go by, one at least every 5-6 minutes! Very quaint place to stay and unlike some of the other "bad" reviews that almost made me not want to stay here, I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the second floor and it didn't smell at all. The rooms downstairs you have benches outside the door you can sit on and just chill. We'll definitely be staying here again next year for this race!

Had reservation for over 2 months. Requested on RESERVATION (where there was a place to do so) that we would like first floor and non smoking. Checked in----no first floor available. I questioned this since we had this booked since Sept. Woman just shrugged shoulder and said..."OH YOU BOOKED THIS ON BOOKING.COM?" I said "YES, why?" She gave no answer. HMMMMMM. She told me no rooms were available on first floor. I said that it was requested. She didnt seem to care. Gentleman came out (who I assume manager or owner) and I explained situation to him. He was like "OH WELL"....Didnt offer anything back to us or even try to verbally say "Im sorry"
OK, so then she gives me key and says OUT LOUD..."YOUR ROOM IS 22". I'm like..."Now everyone here knows our room!" Again, no answer.
I go to car to gather belongings and go to stairs....Wooden railing is broken with a 2 foot piece missing in middle....OMG! Thank God we didnt get splinters.
Room actually was extremely clean. Fridge and microwave clean. Beds comfy. Quiet.
Window in bathroom wouldnt open even after we unlocked it. We just wanted some fresh air. Shower nice temp but low pressure.
Although pool season was over, pool was NOT covered and was nasty.....green and yuck around sides.
They claim this is NON SMOKING, however, we did smell cigarette smoke in corridor by door leading to our room....However, it wasnt in our room.
We go to this area 4-5 times a year. We thought to try a smaller mom & pop place. I wont ever ever stay here again. And its NOT THE ROOM. IT IS/WAS THE ATTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE IN OFFICE.

Very friendly hosts who were more than willing to insure a pleasant stay. Very comfortable beds and pillows. We slept great. The owners are still doing some upgrading, but overall this was a comfortable motel that is conveniently located just outside the Strasburg/Lancaster area. We have no regrets.

This place is run down, needs a complete upgrading. Front porches need a good wash down, pressure washer, and a coat of paint, cigarette butts all over. Furniture is outdated, bathroom in 10 the faucet is barely hanging there. We booked a room for 85 and when we arrived it was 120. We were told we would have coffee in the morning, but the doors were locked, if they don’t want to have coffee in the morning put coffee pots in the rooms. I would stay away unless your desperate. They advertise breakfast and there is nothing. When we checked in the blankets on the bed were dirty, after being told they are all changed and sanitary because of Covid. This place is Covid waiting to happen. There is plenty of hotels, I would check them out first.

Ever since my son turned 4 we have stayed at this motel whenever we visit Lancaster which is at least once a year. Now my son, who is now 15, always asks me to book this motel when we plan to visit, he doesn't want to stay anywhere else. It is hidden in the country side making the location very quiet but it is also very close to the main road. This is a plus as the main road leads to many great attractions and outlets. The hotel itself is not built in a modern style and it does have its years but it is always clean and comfortable. The motel contains a nice pool which is cleaned regularly and a beautiful front yard which is presented with beautiful flowers and a playground. The owners, Peter and Dee are great people. They are very friendly and helpful . We love this place and always enjoy staying here .If you enjoy quiet, clean and simple motels I really recommend it.

When arriving the price was changed to a different rate that was listed on their site. We were told it was the "weekend rate". Much too expensive for what we were receiving but we stayed anyway. It was a good location in the heart of Amish country for sure. However, it was rare that someone was actually manning the office. The office was open only once in the morning for coffee and then for the next 5 days we stayed no one appeared in the mornings and the door was locked. More often then not, NO ONE was attending the office even during the day. It was not surprising that while we were there we were the only ones. If no one is in the office and no one answers the phone, that is not surprising. On the day we checked out we were charged for an extra day. A gentleman who happened to be in the office and understood and spoke little english stated we had to talk to the manager. Once home we attempted to call for several days and no one answered the phone. Finally after the 4th day this same gentleman answered and told me I had to call back....you guessed it....when the manager was there. I finally called my credit card company who attempted to call them and was also told to call back. Day 6 I was able to catch up with the manager who stated she would fix the problem. Has not done so weeks later and doubt we will be refunded the extra day. Both of our bedspreads were filthy and the room needed much updating. So disappointed!!!

The web site is absolutely deceiving! The outside of this hotel was dirty. There was a big bag full of garbage outside our door. They person at the front desk was not friendly, There was no continental breakfast, the room was cold and smelled musky, the couch was stained with what we could only guess, it took about 8 minutes for the hot water to reach the faucets, there is no vending machine or ice maker and when we rolled the blanket back the sheets were wrinkled. This place was a dump!!! We made reservations at a different hotel and got out of there. the person at the front desk asked what was the matter with the room and just stared at me like a deer in headlights! Recomend no one stay at this place. doubt I'll get a discount or any of my money back. Sorry for the bad review but this place should rename themselves to Cherry Lane Dump!

We planned a last minute trip to Lancaster. We were faced with very little choices for hotels in our price range. We went with a hotel that was endorsed by one of my points cards and had ok reviews. OMG! Pictures speak louder than words. I am usually ok with outdated as long as it is clean...the bathroom was ok...but the room was gross. Broken headboard, dirty window seals, stains on walls and carpets, and questionable bedding. The mattresses on the bunk beds were old and stained. The garbage bins in the hallway were overflowing. We did not eat breakfast there because it was set out the night before and we were leary...did not sleep well.

this hotel is located on a very quiet road. the horse and buggies drive by all day and night. watching them from the pool or benches in the playground is one of our favorite things to do. you wouldn't even know a mile away is gas stations, restaurants, shopping, ect. it's the perfect scenery for amish Country. Amish even live in houses around the hotel. the staff are amazing. rooms are clean. breakfast is good. we come every year and some of our families fondest memories come from here. we highly recommend this hotel!

The room was clean but extremely shabby. The window wouldn't completely close. The refrigerator was rusty and had a cord dangling with a light socket and a big LED bulb hanging from the inside. The door trim was broken. The room looks like it hasn't been remodeled in decades. It stunk. The stairway to the room had old worn carpet, the woodwork was broken. At the bottom was a light hanging from the wall with the cord sticking way out to get entangled with. It would make a better haunt the motel room. We turned in the key and left.

Is the area walkable? Are there any small shops or eateries nearby?
Answer from Christopher F
East Fishkill, New York141 contributions104 helpful votes
This is a rural area, surrounded by farms. There are some stores nearby, I'd say more tending to local residents than tourists. You'd want to be able to walk many miles comfortably to see a selection of nearby touristic shops and villages.

Yes they do have rooms on first floor. I have bad knees and have a hard time with stairs. Our room was first floor right across from the pool. There was one small step up the curb. And a small step into the room. I had no trouble
