Chose to stay here based on reviews on line. Had trouble with their website when trying to book so called direct and got a good rate for two night stay. Our room was on the second floor (no elevators), 2 queen beds – clean and tidy room. TV channel line up did not match up but they never do in hotels so no biggie. Microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker always appreciated. Ice machine on 1st floor. Continental breakfast very basic – breads (muffins, bagels, etc), bananas, cereal, juice and coffee. There are plenty of good breakfast places close by, if wanted. Manager/owner very pleasant and helpful . Good central location and close to major tourist sites, restaurants, shopping etc – safe area. One disappointment was the internet which was constantly dropping and unable to get to certain websites at all (tripadvisor included). Decent budget hotel stay, met needs and would definitely stay again.
Checked in around 3:00 with no problems. Relaxed in the room for a little over an hour until our dinner show. Room (223 I think) was dated and a little dirty. Dusty, water marks on the walls. We chose Eastbrook because of the location and the fairly decent reviews. I can deal with things being dated, but I was a little disappointed with the overall condition of the room.
Now for the horrific part. After returning from our show around 10:30 we went to bed. As I was laying there, I felt like I was being bit by something. I went into the bathroom and as you can see from the pictures, I was right. These bites happened in about an hour. These bed bugs have been in this room for sometime. I went back into the room, observed the bed bugs and got my wife up.
I went to the front desk and told the female about the bed bugs and she acted like she didn't' understand what I was talking about. I showed her the bites and she asked if I wanted a different room or wanted to check out. Other rooms may have been okay, but I wasn't going to find out. We checked out around midnight were told we wouldn't be charged anything.
After checking out, we had trouble finding another room and ended up staying in 2 more hotels because of the lack of vacancies. Will never go back to Eastbrook.
This is our second visit and was just as impressive as the first. Check in was quick and our room ready and waiting. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Morning continental breakfast is certainly sufficient to give you a good start to the day. Conveniently located to access outlets, Sight and Sound and most other area attractions. We will definitely return.
This is an older property that has done some upgrading, but needs more.
Pros--clean, low price, mini-fridge in room, good beds, free WiFi (unsecured), quiet room, quiet area, nice front desk staff, close to Sight and Sound theater.
Cons--flat pillows, malfunctioning A/C unit, only two electrical outlets, no toiletries except bar soap and combo shampoo/conditioner, no maid service. None of these things was a deal breaker for us, since I took my own pillow and toiletries. We worked around the other roadblocks. But it wouldn't be a full review without reporting them.
If the hotel management will replace pillows and check/repair A/C units, it will go a long way toward making guests comfortable. Addition of electrical outlets would be a wonderful future project, as funds are available. On the plus side, the front desk people were wonderful. Thank you for that.
My friend and I took a trip to Lancaster and stayed at the Eastbrook Inn because of it's price, location, and reviews stating it was clean. Our stay worked out well. The price was very good, the location was great, right in the middle of all we wanted to do. We wanted to see the Amish culture, shop in locally run Amish stores, eat Amish local food, and go shopping at the outlets and staying at the Eastbrook Inn had us in a central location. We only had to drive minutes to accomplish everything we'd planned. The hotel room was very clean and our stay couldn't have worked out better! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the lack of an elevator - we had to drag our bags up to the second floor. Raj was kind enough to ask if he could help us but we were able to manage. Will definitely go back again.
