This place is like a piece of heaven. Surprised my girlfriend with a overnight birthday trip and we were both VERY impressed with the service and the property. The folks who take care of the horses were there when we arrived and helped show us around. Darlene took care of our breakfast and made an amazing (and abundant!) meal!
I can't actually review the property because I never stayed. My review is for the horrible booking system. I booked the 3 bedroom loft apartment 6 weeks ago for two nights. At that time I was billed for one night plus a chili dinner for 6 people. I rec'd a confirmation email and a "looking forward to your stay" email 3 days before my check-in date. They day before I was scheduled to arrive, Raphael called and told me he had double booked the apartment because he had two reservation systems which didn't talk to eachother. He offered me a two bedroom condo for 4 people for the price of one night at his b&b, but that was too small for my party of 6. A few hours later he found me a 3 bedroom condo and said he'd reimburse me for the chili dinner and we'd call it even. The condo itself was nice, but we had to spend time and money shopping to get food for 2 breakfasts and dinners (which would have been provided at the Horizon View), all paper products, soap, condiments, water, etc... nothing was provided at the condo. Unfortunately at 7am, workers started using jackhammers to gut the condo beneath ours due to flooding, which really cut into the enjoyment of the property. I know that was not within Raphael's control, but if my original reservation had been honored, I wouldn't even have been there. I have contacted Raphael 4 times since last Wednesday asking when I would receive the credit for the chili dinner. He responded once saying it would be credited two days ago. Still nothing... except the "thanks for staying" email I received on Monday. They really need to get their reservation system worked out!!…
The most enchanting place you can go. Its tall trees and expansive views are more then the pictures can tell. The Bed and Breakfast is a true 5 star. The rooms are gorgeous and large and great for a family get away. Horse back riding and hiking a must DO!
I had the privilege of presiding at an outdoor ceremony here, then attended the reception. I also spent some time at the house during preparations...the entire staff was outstanding! The venue is pleasant and peaceful. It's a beautiful place for a variety of events!
Attended an evening event and really enjoyed the barn, the service, friendliness and general ambiance. It's such a great space for events! The bed & breakfast next to the bar is cozy and relaxing. If you are looking for a space in a "nature" setting, I recommend that you talk to these folks. They are good people.
Riding the GAP through Rockwood? Consider spending the night at Horizon View Farms. Lovely locale, 20 minute ride from the trail, will give you a slice of farm life w/o all the chores. On site hostess, Darlene, is charming and the ultimate in hospitality. Option to have delicious chili dinner waiting for you on arrival. Hot and hearty breakfast included in room cost. Restored farmhouse and barns add to the ambiance.
My mom and I recently took a girls trip and stayed at Horizon View Farms. Upon arriving, Darlene welcomed us and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the apartment and it was very large and comfortable with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and loft upstairs. We enjoyed the chilled bottle of wine and cheese and fruit plate awaiting us. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable. I was most amazed by the grounds. There is only rolling hills and horses surrounding the farm which make you truly feel like you have gotten away from it all. Sitting by the firepit was an ejoyable way to relax at the end of the day. The next morning, we enjoyed a hearty and delicious home cooked breakfast by Darlene and relaxed on the back porch watching the horses. After, we were able to head out on a trail ride and get a better view of the property which is truly breathtaking. We will definitely be returning here in the future! Also, the property is not too far from the resorts and activities in the Laurel Highlands. It was situated close to it all, but just far away enough!…
Taking the time to experience the wonders of nature in spring is a delight, full of surprises, and I don't normally like surprises. One night there were snowflakes in the shape of fireworks and the next day it was warm and sunny. The food and lodging are impeccable, and there are horses! This is a dream come true! Paso finos, quarter horses, two black draft horses and a white pony - something for everyone, with the warmest hospitality in the northern hemisphere. Open spaces and very private. The breakfast features fresh fruit, such as grapefruit in a glass (what a great idea) fresh bananas and strawberries, coffee, waffles, sausages or eggs and bacon and Darlene will make sure you have everything to your liking and even asks what time you'd like to have it ready. There is also a common kitchenette area with a full size refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, dishes and sink. They provide a lot of extra treats, but it's also nice that you would have room for your own food if you have any special dietary requirements. Coming from congested NYC is worth every minute of the trip.…
My husband and I stayed here 2 nights the last week of September. They will pick you up on the GAP Trail and bring you here. The rooms are beautiful with a large sitting room with nice TV and remote control fireplace. The bedroom is big with a nice queen size bed and large TV. Then there is a nice sized bathroom with toilet, shower only and a nice vanity area with a chair to sit and do your hair and makeup. It is in a nice rural area and is a working farm with horses and a barn cat. The mama cat had 4 kittens and they stay in the barn, but we went out and played with them each day. When we were here, it was off season and we were the only couple here. We had the whole place to ourselves. Darlene met us and made a cheese and fruit platter for us the 1st evening and there is wine in the fridge to help yourselves. She also arrived in the morning to make our breakfast. She was all very nice. You will need a car out here, we had Enterprise pick us up from Somerset, PA and we got a car to visit Fallingwater and the Flight 93 memorial on one day.…
I stayed at HVF this past weekend while on a trip through PA to see some National Parks. It was a truly wonderful visit. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful with dining suggestions. The farm itself is just beautiful. With its big red barn, silo, horses, and even a stable cat, it couldn't get more perfect. Our breakfast was delicious (they were able to accommodate my vegetarian friend with no trouble). There was a lovely cheese plate available upon arrival, a bottle of wine in the room, and a fire pit nearby for s'mores should you desire. The room (Chelsea room) was beautiful with more than enough space and amenities for my friend and me. I'm only disappointed in the fact that it rained quite a bit the morning we were departing as I would have loved to have taken advantage of the hiking and biking trails available. Oh well....another time perhaps.…
