Let me start off by saying, the bathrooms were incredibly clean. I have been to a lot of campgrounds similar in size to Bear Run Campground on holiday weekends like Labor Day, and I have never seen public bath houses so clean! Literally spotless, from morning until night. Just goes to show how much they care about their guests. My family had an amazing time, and when we come back in town next year for Labor Day you can bet we will be renting another cabin at Bear Run.
Nice campground just off the highway, you're tucked away in nature. We were in a tent & the only ones in our area Camping that night so it was silent & beautiful with the fireflies around us. The one downfall was the area was extremely dark with no lights around the toliet or buildings in the distance, great for sleeping but not for getting up in the night so remember a flash light! We even got woken up to a wolf or coyote howling at 3am, very cool! A nice spot to camp with good amenities.
Thank you. My son and I had an enjoyable stay at Bear Run, except for the rain on Saturday night, lol. A bit of a downside: We had a "neighbor" at site *** who decided it was a good idea to create noise by driving out, then returning to that site at 2:05 a.m. on Sunday morning. Not cool, but certainly no fault of the campground. Your regulations were crystal clear. If I may make a few suggestions: There are a few very deep ruts (which could be filled by adding gravel) along the way to my primitive site where we stayed, and a few of the tree branches need trimming so as to avoid bending vehicle antennas. I am not complaining, just offering up a suggestion or two. Your sites are beautiful. We felt safe and secure in the campground. Until next year, Bob S. Valparaiso, IN
The campground is very nice. The staff was great. Some of the people staying there need to watch there kids. The campsite beside us was up partying until 3am. All in all it was a good weekend. I would definitely recommend. It would probably be best to stay closer to the entrance.
We made a reservation for a camping site and a cabin. They called us two weeks later to tell us they wanted to know more about the breed of our dog. Our dog is mixed breed but not any of the breeds listed that weren't allowed. After we told them the breeds she was a week later they wanted a photo of our dog. We sent the photo but didn't hear about whether she would be allowed to come so we had to find another campground. It cost us $75.00 to cancel our reservations.
We did rustic camping, campsites were far away from each other so that it felt like you had the trees to yourself! 2 nice dog runs; cleaned and sanitized showers and bathrooms. Walking trail to Moraine State Park and nice trails there also. Had a great time and would definitely recommend.
We stayed in the Pine Meadows section near the horses in early September 2020 and we LOVED it!!! All of the staff members were very nice and helpful , they even delivered firewood to our site! We took our 16ft fishing boat and they let us park it in a nice area near the front of the campground. It's a gated facility so we felt very safe there. It's also a great place for children. They have a pool and a nice playground at the front of the campground. Since we tent camped we stayed towards the back and it was very quiet. The bathhouses were very clean and the port-a-johns were also kept very clean! Since we stayed in September we can't comment about what it's like during peak season but we had a great time!!! We highly recommend Bear Run.
Spent an extended weekend at Bear Run. Super clean - bathrooms, ports johns, gift shop - the cleanest we saw out of four campgrounds this year. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Going back next year!
We arrived on Friday Aug 14th. We were told almost immediately that my Son's dog could not stay because she has pitbull in it, mean while the campers right next to us has a dog that is pitbull mix, no chain or leash. But that's ok because the owner says so. Sat, 330am, quiet time, one camper in a tent has had their radio on outside the tent and you can hear it up and down the whole road. Anyone checking, nope! I am sure the owner got a good night's sleep though. Noone answers the phone, noone enforces the rules, I am sure because they are sleeping. I understand covid is an issue, but when you have children staring at the pool because they can't swim on a hot day. Then you just need to shut it down, instead of making children feel like they are excluded. This campground is amateur at best and there are too many better campgrounds in pa. To waste your money here! This was my son's birthday celebration, and I have no respect for the owners that take no action when we all get a copy of the rules and we are made to comply, when its convenient. This family needs to sell it to someone who is much more caring about the facility. Oh and smelling the trash and sewage the whole time was wonderful!…
I was hesitant to book here because it is a private campground and they are almost universally bad compared to a USFS campground, but I figured it was only for two nights so what the hell. I went into it with low expectations, and hey, I was not disappointed. First of all, even though you can choose a spot on the map when making a reservation, when you get to the very end of the reservation process it says you have to pay an extra $5 to "lock in" your spot...on top of their already high rates. Otherwise they can assign you whatever spot they want. That is ridiculous. If they are going to have this BS policy, they should tell you at the beginning of the booking process, rather than the end. Of course, they should get rid of this policy entirely. I paid $75 online to get a primitive camping space, for two nights. No water, no electric. I didn't want either, but $75 is rather steep, especially for a place without direct lake access or a beach. Sure, they have crap like a pool and arcade and stuff. Who cares? I can do that at home. Anyway, it is high. A more reasonable price would have been $40, tops. This place is basically a trailer park, except instead of mobile homes, it is stuffed full of RVs, almost right next to each other. One right after another. It boggles my mind that people spend all that money on an RV and then park it somewhere like this. From the looks of things, most have not moved in years. Horrible! I think the same people come here year after year, never even bothering to move their RV. I don't get it. After you drive through what looks like a used RV sales lot, way in the back they have some "primitive" camping spots. I guess it is "primitive" because they cram 2 or 3 spots into what should be one spot by any decent standard. Thank god there is no one in the spot next to us, otherwise it would completely suck. As for our spot itself, it is very small, not level. Slopes in two directions. Difficult to set up a tent here. Didn't get good sleep because we keep rolling off the mattress! We had to move the fire ring to make it work at all, but of course, that violates one of the 500 rules this place has....which amount to make as much noise as you want (music, fireworks, loud vehicles, barking dogs, whatever) but don't you dare do anything for free that they can charge money for! The staff buzz up and down the road on their quads or golf carts or whatever, constantly, even late at night. It is nice that they are on top of things with security, I guess, but damn, get some quieter equipment! Something electric powered and noiseless please. If you decide to stay here, ask for the biggest "primitive" spot you can get. Otherwise, you may as well stay in a Walmart parking lot. I think their parking spaces are bigger than the ones provided here. There is nothing special about this place and no reason to camp here unless you need a place for a night or two and can't get a space anywhere else.…
