We spent two nights at this Wyndham. On the (somewhat) plus side: the staff are extremely friendly; the room was clean, though it had a kind of rundown look; the WiFi worked well and was easy to set up; the bed was reasonably comfortable for me, though it gave my wife a backache. On the minus side: (1) No matter how we adjusted the shower curtain, water still leaked on the floor. (2) The room had no USB ports. (3) While there were electrical outlets on the base of the lamps on either side of the king-size bed, the lamp on the desk did not have an outlet. This means that if you are using a laptop at the desk, you can only plug it into an outlet that is under the desk and not easy to get to. (4) The heating system was rather noisy. (5) When we checked in, the room was missing soap for the shower and hair conditioner, though the front desk cheerfully supplied me with these when I went down to inquire about them. (6) The bathroom lighting was not bright enough, which is a way of saying the shaving or applying make-up involved a certain amount of guesswork. …
Had issues both stays. First stay had soiled bedding. Second visit the sink and toilet was broke. We had to switch rooms because of the misty/smoky odor. I do not recommend this hotel. They are apparently having quality management issues.
This a great hotel for the price. It looks like it is being renovated. Our room was large with two queen beds. The corner plastic protector was coming off. The bathroom was huge, but dated. There was a Steelers game that night. Unfortunately, there was a party in a nearby room, which went on late into the night. Hence, we did not get a good night’s sleep. The breakfast buffet was ok, not great. You can’t beat the location of this hotel if you are going either to the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon. Overall, good value.
We stayed here for a wedding. The room was “okay” at best; not the newest and showing old. Clean enough; but the type of clean where your Mom wouldn’t stay there. We stayed at the same time as a competition so the halls and lobby became a party place full of noise during the late night and early morning hours.
I was scheduled surgery & I had to be at Magee Women's at 5am but live almost 3 1/2 hrs away so I contacted Wyndham about a room and received the room for patient price along with parking at patient price which was helpful.... Staff was very kind, polite, even when I called to make the reservation the staff was kind.... I definitely will be spreading word about the hotel!!
Recently stayed here for a work event being hosted in the conference center. Conference rooms were great and staff was friendly and helpful. Had lunch and dinner in the restaurant, which was fine. The rooms are in dire need of an update. Even though my room appeared very clean and sanitary, it was dingy and dated, giving it the appearance of being dirty. Finally, despite being there for 3 days, room service never once came in to make up my room.
The only great thing about this hotel is its location on the Pitt Campus. It is a block away from the Cathedral Of Learning, but that is the only good thing. The rooms are outdated, the bathroom fixtures don't work correctly, the guest book has the wrong information, i.e. complimentary toothpaste that cost $3.00. I have stayed at Wyndham properties elsewhere, however none have been as bad as this one.
Overall my stay was Excellent!!! I love being on campus and being close to everything. I felt the pillows could been a lot firmer for me due to my health related issues. The convenience of not need a car was key plus for me.
The room smelled, the AC did not work and when we asked to clean the room we were told they would only do it after the third night. Paying $300 a night. Localization is good but Never staying there again. Very bad experience for the price you pay !!!!!
Smelly room, the AC was too loud and nosy, Called the front desk to have the room cleaned at 9AM, when we got back at 5:30PM the room wasn’t cleaned and the front desk told us “we don’t clean rooms” as if I was asking her to clean the room herself. Apparently they don’t clean the rooms if you’re staying less than 3 days. Never again!
