Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh-Downtown is centrally located in the historic Henry W. Oliver Building, in the heart of Pittsburgh's central business district. We are walking distance to local attractions, restaurants and shopping. Convenient for business and leisure travelers alike, our hotel is close to Pittsburgh's Cultural District, as well as PNC Park, Heinz Field and PPG Paints Arena.
Visit the nearby Senator John Heinz History Museum or attend an event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, just a few blocks away. If you bleed 'Black and Gold', catch the Pittsburgh Pirates playing at PNC Park, or visit Heinz Field - home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Market Square is a short walk from our hotel and offers great local flavors and handmade crafts. A short 'T' away, the renowned Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh offer a wide selection of exhibits ranging from modern art to prehistoric objects.
The reception team is horrible. I had to deal with two of them and they don’t have the minimum standards of customer service. The room size was okay but don’t expect cleaning. You have to walk to the reception to ask for toilet papers and deal with the unwelcoming staff. It was overpriced comparing with other hotels in the area. I don’t recommend it for families because it’s located on a street that didn’t feel safe. There is an old dusty coffee machine, and you can’t use it because they don’t provide water.
Booked a corner River view room at this downtown hotel and was impressed. Staff was friendly, buffet breakfast was awesome every morning. AC was not working well in room at first, but it was promptly repaired. Lobby on 25th floor is confusing, but I would stay here again. Self parking garage across the street is handy. Good location.
The breakfast is awful. The eggs are powder and the bacon is a pile of grease. If you get an omelet, it'll be the worst omlet ever. I had a business stay of 5 days and could not make the first day. When I arrived the next day, the staff would not help me with the remaining four days and was told to re-book even though I stayed there 5 times in the calendar year
We had a ladies night & had it not been for the ladies I came with, I would have ask for money back. This hotel needs to be closed. The ceiling in the bathrooms have water damage. The tub look dirty & water does not run out, as if the tub is clogged up. They covered the hottub in the pool area, which is very disappointing. The staff does not have uniforms (everyone had on sweatpants). I'm truly disappointed. The breakfast was ok (very greasy sausage) & tiny cups for juice. Please shut down & renovate accordingly.
Checked in and went to call front desk to let them know that we were missing a tv remote from one of the bedrooms. Realized that none of the 3 phones in the room worked. Called by cell phone. "Engineer" Paul who was nice brought a remote. Could not figure out what was wrong with the phones. Not a deal breaker cause I told him we could use our cell phone. After he left, we realized that the HVAC in our bedroom was not working. Worked in out daughter's room and the living room. Called back to front desk with cell phone and he came back. He found that the breaker in the panel had been tripped and it seemed to get it working. My daughter had an interview at U of Pitt so we left the room and didn't return till much later after dinner. At that time realized the hvac had tripped the breaker in our bedroom again. I reset it continually and found it tripped after 4-5 min of working. I tried turning off the one in the living room and that didn't help. It was too late for any engineer to come and I didn't feel like changing rooms at the late hour. Lay down to go to sleep and now the fun begins. Hear the loud noise of the elevators going up and down ALL NIGHT LONG! Note, we were in room 2301 and I think any room that ends in ..01 are right next to the elevator shaft. Be warned The next day noticed that one of the windows had hand prints and smudges all over it as if a kid had put his face against the window. Also noticed that one of my pillow cases had a black spot on it. Now I'm starting to feel that this place was not cleaned properly. Next morning went to front desk and reported all of the above and was told "Oh sorry, maybe next time you should request a room away from the elevator" REALLY????. No offer to get the manager. Instead "I'll let the manager know" Glad we only spent one night there. Have spent many vacations at Embassy Suites in Deerfield beach and never any problems. So was very disappointed.…
My wife and I spent 4 nights in the Embassy Suites in downtown Pittsburgh. The rooms were large, clean, quiet, with a good bed for sleeping. The valet service to park your car was excellent, with superb customer service by the attendants. The breakfast buffet was OK. The omelet bar was great, but the other items were just so so.
The hotel is situated right in the downtown! Very lovely staff! Breakfast is amazing! Mr. James catered so well for me as I had special dietary requirements! The front desk is super helpful, check in was seamless and they had everything in order! Will stay again if I’m around in Pittsburg downtown
My family of 3 stayed for 1 night while in town to visit our oldest son during Family Weekend at Pitt. This is a clean hotel in a convenient location, just a short drive to campus. Our suite on the 17th floor was very spacious, even with the bed opened from the sleeper sofa, and it had a great view of the surrounding buildings and river. The location is about a 10 minute walk to PPG Paints Arena, which we did walk to get to a comedy show that Saturday night. Along the way we passed several nice restaurants, which we would have eaten at if we hadn’t had other plans. We liked almost everything about this hotel, but there were a few minor things that kept me from giving it an excellent rating. The valet service took a while to retrieve cars, regardless of time of day (4pm, 10pm, or 9:30am). I didn’t time each request, but using the app I made the requests in our room and after a long walk down the hallway, then waiting for an elevator, we still waited a few minutes outside before our car arrived. Another thing was that they ran out of forks at the breakfast buffet. While there were a couple of people clearing plates and re-supplying food items, no one seemed to be checking the utensils. BTW, the buffet itself was good, and the made-to-order omelettes were great. Lastly, the room only had 2 bath towels, and while the front desk quickly got me another this was the first hotel we’ve stayed at that didn’t have 4 towels especially in a room that was designed to accommodate that number of guests. Overall this is a nice hotel, and we would definitely stay again.…
I don’t understand the bad reviews. Every staff member we encountered during our 2 night stay at the Embassy Suites in downtown Pittsburgh was pleasant and the staff at breakfast were particularly friendly and helpful. I loved that the building was unique and had a former life as a bank. It was in the middle of downtown and made navigating the area very easy. Market Square and plenty of restaurants were only a few blocks away. It is right in between the Wood St and Steel Plaza light rail stations. We attended 2 Pirates baseball games, a University of Pittsburgh football game and rode bikes along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and this was a great base to do it all from. Our room was on the corner of the 22nd floor and had views into downtown, of the river and into PNC Park. The room layout was perfect as it had plenty of space and was very functional. We could not have been more pleased with our stay here and would definitely return if we visit Pittsburgh again.…
My daughters were treating me to a day and night in the city to celebrate my birthday. We had a great day exploring nearby attractions and restaurants. We stayed overnight at the Embassy Suites Downtown Pittsburgh. Pros and Cons: The good things: *Wonderful location near the cultural district. We were within walking distance of many of the places we wanted to visit. *Very nice happy hour! While the snacks were just bags of chips, the bartender was fun and the drinks were generous! *Plentiful free breakfast buffet- made to order omelets ( loved the sweet man who made them!) Largest free buffet I’ve ever experienced. *Unique historic building * Reasonable rates The not so great things: * Our room, while spacious, was not as clean as it should have been. Most disturbing was opening the sleep sofa and realizing the sheets there had been obviously slept on with food crumbs through them. Worse was looking under the sleep sofa and finding used bandaids and food underneath. Requested a new set and blanket as there was none in the room and was told we needed to come get them as they had no one to bring them to the room. * Another room issue was the blackout blinds. They only worked on 2 of 4 windows. Maintenance came while we were gone and lowered them but then when we returned we could not raise any of them. While the cons were disappointing, the best thing was spending time with my daughters.…
