Just had to cancel my reservation a week out. They charged me a nights stay even though my company has people stay there all the time. We will be taking our business elsewhere. Very shortsighted policy. Explained the situation and was greeted with nonsense by the representative. Not her fault. Poor policy I am sure.
We were in town for our anniversary and specifically for Billy Joel (epic!). The HI is within walking distance of PNC park, the Andy Warhol Museum and several restaurants and bars. Only complaint was location of our room (413) was right next to the highway but thankfully we brought earplugs and all was fine. For the proximity to the area, I would stay again.
If that cost means paying a little more, I highly recommend you do. We visited Pittsburgh for a concert and while we had a wonderful time in this beautiful city, the experience we had at the Holiday Inn Express North Shore was abysmal. When we arrived we found a large brown stain on our comforter, what looked to be maybe coffee and not one had properly washed it to remove the stain. Not a big deal, we though, we just removed the comforter and slept with the sheets. But the real issue was not having a remote for the TV (which didn’t have any buttons on the TV to turn it off or change the channel). We went down to the front desk at 5 pm and asked for a new one to which the daytime desk person said she’d have someone bring one up. It never came. At 11 pm I went downstairs to ask for it again and the nighttime desk person throws her hands up and, in a hostile tone, says “we don’t have anymore of those and the internet’s not even working so I don’t know what you want me to do”. The lack of customer service at this place sucks and we slept poorly that night with a TV glaring in our faces (we finally found where we could unplug it) and the loud sound of cars passing on the highway next to our window.…
We stayed here one night. Several issues with the place. 1. No electrical outlets on the nightstand for CPAP. Only usb connections. Had to leave the CPAP on the bed. 2. No cups in the room. Had to get coffee cups from the lobby. 3. Breakfast was minimal. No bacon or meat. Only scrambled eggs and some l8mp things called “omelette”.
It's disappointing to pay $200 a night for such a low quality experience. The desk staff was not welcoming at check in and acted like we were bothering them. We had used expedia to book and the staff claimed they could not look up reservation details easily. Booked a king room and was given a room with 2 queens. Overall, the staff had a rude demeanor and unpleasant attitude about their job. The mattresses are terrible. I've slept on more comfortable beds at motels. The smoke detector flashes every 2 seconds in the room...all night long. Also, no trash can in the bathroom. Very disappointing experience to say the least. We won't be Holiday Inn Express customers again unless there are no other options.
I have stayed here multiple times over the years. I know it gets crowded and hectic on game days, but this past stay was the absolute worst. At 3 pm (normal check-in time), we were told it would just be a little while because the rooms were not done being cleaned and that they had a full hotel the night before. They said they would call us when a room was ready. At 4 pm, the room was still not ready, and we were told it would be a few minutes. Not ready at 4:30 pm either. The lobby was full of people waiting for rooms. We were told we could put our luggage in a back room, but we noted that the back room was not supervised, and people were walking in and out of it at will. Our room was finally ready shortly before 5 pm. We were in time for the game, but we missed all the pregame activities on the Riverwalk. Not acceptable!! Our queen "suite" was 2 queen beds with some empty space and an old small couch. We spilled a few drops of water on the floor, and went to wipe it up with a tissue. The tissue came up completely black. The floor was filthy. Our room bordered the highway, and the traffic noise all night was awful. At 9 am the next morning, I notified the front desk that there was no hair dryer in the room. (My friend did not notice until she came out of the shower with wet hair.) They said someone would bring one up. No one ever did. At 10:30 am we had to borrow one from another room on our floor. We missed breakfast while waiting for a hair dryer that never came. At checkout, we were told we could not have a printed copy of our bill because the computer was broken. The whole experience here was horrible and unacceptable. The ONLY nice thing about the stay was the staff. The poor gentlemen at the front desk were friendly. They kept calm and were apologetic as multiple people grew angry at the check-in situation and there were long lines of people complaining. Those two gentlemen deserve a raise.…
We booked our reservation in MAY for this property. We arrived for our stay in July and they told us they overbooked the hotel and couldn’t honor our reservation! I don’t know what the point of making a reservation months in advance is if they’re just going to turn you away. We ended up driving 6 hours back home since every hotel was booked after the baseball game due to their unprofessional, unethical and downright distrustful behavior. BEWARE!!!!!!
We were here for 3 nights on a baseball trip. For that purpose, it was an excellent location just steps to the ballpark. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. There were some shortcomings, though. There was no housekeeping, so the garbage piled up and the towels were getting musty. The pool water was ice cold, so that combined with a parent not adequately supervising her children, we only stayed about 15 minutes. The room key kept deactivating but was fixed after several tries. Finally, parking was added to our bill for 2 nights, but we did not have a car on property, and it took a while for the front desk to fix it, although it was fixed before we left. We did not try the complimentary breakfast.
Had a pleasant stay until I got my credit card bill. I'm trying to reach out to the hotel for inquiring about an unknown charge of USD 1000+ by the hotel on my credit card. All dues of the stay had already been cleared by my travel agent. I've been trying to reach out via call and every time the reception directs me to the GM who never is on his seat or never picks up the call. His voice mail box is full hence, I can't even leave a message. He doesn't respond to emails. Advice: Keep a check on the charges they put on your credit card on check-out as it seems to be a nightmare getting connected with relevant authorities. Or simply avoid the staying at this hotel.
Stayed here for 3 nights while touring prospective colleges. Due to a flight delay we did not arrive till almost midnight. We were tired but were greeted by a friendly young man in the front desk . Being an IHG Platinum member we did receive our welcome amenity but we did not receive un upgraded room. We were on the 3rd floor facing a brick wall, wish we had the city view room. Maybe this is why the parking fees were waived. We were so busy that we did not have time to request a room change. The rooms were nice and clean. You have to request housekeeping if needed. Breakfast was average and provided limited hot and cold selections. Great walking location to PNC Park and Heinz Field. There were no games going on so it was a little quiet.
