Nett is a very nice lady. Her and the other breakfast buffet people make sure the food is fresh and inviting. The quality is good. Everything is always hot. And a great variety of breakfast choices.
Thank you for all your hard work in providing excellent service to the hotel guests.

I have started a 3-yr project in the Pittsburgh area for Penn State. This has become “my hotel” bc of location but mostly the people who work here. Holly Nika and James have all helped me at one time and keep me coming back. This can be a busy hotel bc it’s walking distance to museums, sports, and the strip. However the staff keep everything moving w good humor and efficiency. This is the place I stay in Pittsburgh and I have stayed at many other hotels: the industrialist, Omni, and Renaissance. Again it’s the people that make this place great and welcoming. Good work everyone. Also those other hotels are great too—-almost all Pittsburghers are friendly. I just wanted to point out why I stay here.

Great stay at this property, with excellent service provided by Holly at the front desk! She picked out a room away from the elevators (preferred) with a great view of the river! The free parking is a plus in addition to the location just steps away from a riverfront stroll, and a few blocks from the start of the Strip District. Room was clean and tidy without any issues to report. Noise level from surrounding rooms was never an issue, even with occupants on either side of my room. Breakfast services were plentiful and tasty for something quick to eat. Will definitely be back to stay when I come back "home" to the 'burgh!

He assisted us upon check in and was very personable and pleasant. We requested additional towels and James was very quick to respond and delivered them himself.

This was a great location for visiting the Convention Center with it being a 5-10 minute walk. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful at arrival and during the stay. Parking is free and we did not have an issue finding a spot. There were two spaces allocated for EVs with a charger. Parking is behind the hotel and the door to the lobby in the rear of the building may only be accessed with a room key or with the Hilton digital key. Several restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. Breakfast was just ok and the staff struggled to keep items stocked. Some areas of the hotel are showing age (some peeling trim in rooms, marks on the walls, doors) and the breakfast area tables and coffee station were not always clean. Odd numbered rooms face the river and were quiet.

I have stayed at this hotel several times before, so this review is not based solely on one visit. The location is great, close to downtown, close to the Strip District. It also provides easy access to the biking/walking trail along the river that wraps around the Point to the Monongahela River side of the Point. It is a great place to bike or walk on protected trails along the rivers. Free parking is included with the room rate, a significant bonus for a downtown hotel (expensive parking in general). The hotel appears to be really well constructed, with excellent sound insulation. Despite all the noise of a downtown location and nearby bridges across the Allegheny River, the rooms inside remain remarkably quiet. It provides for a great night of sleep. Overall, this is a great choice for a stay in the downtown Pittsburgh area.

WARNING: Do not check in on Hilton app...staff has not been trained on how to deal with these types of check ins and we got double booked. Hotel won't respond to my emails asking to rectify this. We even mentioned we were worried this would happen to front desk but they told me not to worry (I'm worried now). Other issues include:
1. Front desk attendant, when checking us in, kept saying how tired he was and that he "wasn't good at computers"
2. Heard housekeeping complaining about place with one saying "I don't care, I have another job offer"
3. Hot breakfast is awful...even by free hotel breakfast standards
4. Not enough parking.
5. Pool is dirty.

Lots of other hotels is area to choose from.

We stayed here for one night because we were in town for the Pink concert. We made our reservation in November 2022, 9 months ago. Check in time is 4:00 (which is kind of late compared to most hotels), we arrived at around 4:15 and were told our room wasn’t ready yet. Luckily we had another friend who already got her room so we were able to get ready for the concert there since our room wasn’t available in time for us to leave. There were several people waiting around in the lobby for a couple hours in the same position. When we finally got our keys, the front desk manager apologized and said we would only be charged half price which was more than we expected so we were very happy. The original price was $350/night and for that, I would have thought the rooms would be a little nicer. Our bathroom had hair (both head and the other kind) on the vanity as well as in the shower and the floor. There was only one bar of soap and no other toiletries provided. It’s an older hotel and it kind of shows. I think the way the situation with our late check in was handled was very nice but the room could have been a little nicer and definitely cleaner.

Our stay at the Hampton Inn was very pleasant. Located in Downtown Pittsburgh near many area attractions the hotel is perfectly situated for a visit to the city. We were able to walk to nearby PNC Park to watch the Pirates game. Parking is included in the stay at no extra charge, making any longer trips easy. The area is quiet and the hotel is also across the street from the Heinz History Museum, in a nutshell the location can't be beat.

The hotel itself is a modern, clean and well taken care of building. It has a swimming pool which we did not use and a nice sitting area where one can eat the included breakfast. Ont that subject breakfast was self-serve continental style with items like eggs, bacon, waffle makers, bread, cereals and the such. My only minor complaint is the coffee station is located across the lobby near the front desk, while I get it can be accessed all hours it could be put in closer or in additionally be put in the breakfast area during breakfast hours. Breakfast was overall good, while basic it was filling.

Our room was nice large sized with a comfy king-sized bed, it had a TV, desk, and sofa. When we arrived it was clean, we elected not to have the room cleaned during our stay. All linens and towels are hotel standard, what one would expect in a quality chain hotel.

All the staff we dealt with were nice, friendly and helpful. I have only good things to say about them.

The Hampton Inn is a quality hotel, especially for a chain hotel. While it has some personality with pictures of Pittsburgh and such it's not going to knock your socks off. However I would highly recommend it and would stay again in any future Pittsburgh visits.

I was traveling to Pittsburgh on business and read the positive reviews of the Hampton Inn Pittsburgh-Downtown on Smallman Street. I booked five days/ four nights and had a very good experience at the hotel. I have Hilton Honors Diamond status, so I was upgraded to a larger room on a higher floor. The hotel employees were very friendly. James checked me in at the front desk and followed up with me at the beginning of my stay, and Holly at the front desk did an outstanding job making sure I had everything I needed during my visit.

The hotel offers a good complimentary breakfast, free parking, and a short drive to the highway. The hotel is near a highway, and if you are on that side of the hotel, you'll hear traffic noise. I suggest asking for a room on the other side of the hotel, away from the highway and closer to the city and parking lot. Housekeeping doesn't automatically clean your room and make your bed every day. You'll also need to request that service and ask for clean towels.

The selection of beverages is limited. You can pick from bottled water or a sports drink, and for breakfast, you are stuck with the industrial-strength orange juice dispensed out of a machine. What irked me a little was that the hand sanitizer dispenser stationed at the elevators on my floor was empty when I arrived on Monday. After telling the front desk three times over my five-day stay, the dispenser was still empty when I left on Friday.

I didn't explore the city, so I can't speak about the convenience of the hotel in relation to its proximity to restaurants and entertainment. I was staying for business and drove to my appointments. Overall, I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, and if I were ever in Pittsburgh again, I would stay at this Hampton Inn.
