Stayed in the Pippin Room on the third floor. If stairs are not an issue, then this is a wonderful choice. Roomy and comfortable with a large bathroom, and very charming. Breakfasts were very tasty, and wine is served at 4 pm. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
This is a fabulous Inn in Pittsburgh’s shady side area. The rooms are decorated so beautifully. The breakfast was excellent-orange vanilla French toast just exceptional. Service was wonderful and everything was clean. The location is perfect. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We visited Phipps while we were there and it was just a short drive. We’ll definitely be back!
Wonderful bed and breakfast. Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet, and have a lot of charm. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was holiday time so we got to experience the decorations. We did not partake in the tea time, or eat at the bed and breakfast too much. Even without experiencing the tea, just staying at bed and breakfast is worth it. The area is nice and the property feels safe. We will be back!
The food here is absolutely wonderful. You will never be disappointed, My friend and I go to the Inn for high tea at least 4 times per year. My husband and I stayed at the inn once (we even live local) for our anniversary and it was perfect. Liz the owner makes you feel like family, the service is spot on, and as i said.......food........YUM ! Chef Albert is a gem.
We spent five days, Oct. 18-22, with our travel group at the Inn at Negley. We love to stay in B&Bs when our group travels and this B&B is top notch. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the attention to detail is perfect, the breakfasts were amazing! We enjoyed Happy Hour with their complimentary wine each day out on their lovely back deck. We enjoyed the parlor in the evenings for playing games. We cannot give higher praise to this lovely B&B in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood.
Anniversary Weekend. The Inn on Negley was more than we could have ask for! Beautiful Inn, Beautiful Food and wonderful staff! We were actually lucky enough to spend 3 nights - all so quiet and breakfast each morning was fantastic!! A MUST STAY AND A MUST GO BACK TO!
The Inn on Negley is beautiful from the outside and superb inside. Is an old house with conversations pieces all over the place. The rooms are spacious and clean. The service is outstanding and breakfasts are excellent. This has become our second home in Pittsburgh. The location is walking distance to Walnut Street (shopping area and nice restaurants).
There is absolutely nothing that I didn't love about this place. The location, amenities and staff were all 5 star. Carol was a shining star. I'll be planning another trip to Pittsburgh and would not dream about staying anywhere else.
We booked 2 rooms for a night for a sisters' getaway, as well as afternoon tea. We were met by our gracious host, Liz, who seated us in a lovely room. Tea was perfect: many offerings of different teas, and delicious sandwiches and sweets prepared by Chef Nick. The service was attentive yet not overbearing or intrusive (thank you Julie!). After tea, we checked into our rooms, the Granny Smith and the Arkansas Black. The whole Inn is clean, elegant yet comfortable, as were our rooms. The towels were fluffy and the sheets crisp. Our only regret was not being able to take advantage of the fireplace in our room, as it was 85 degrees out! We met Kathleen, the evening innkeeper who is a GEM! Kathleen catered to our every whim, from making dinner suggestions, to bringing us wine and cheese, to chatting with us like an old friend, which we truly enjoyed! We saw both Chef Nick and Kathleen again for breakfast, which was scrumptious! You choose your breakfast time and entree the night before, and it is ready for you when you come to the dining room. The sourdough French toast was SOOO good, and Chef Nick's presentation was magazine-worthy. The Inn is a beautiful old mansion, meticulously kept, with artwork (some from local artists) throughout. One thing I look for in a B&B is enough common space, and the Inn has that...we had access to several lovely sitting/dining rooms, as well as a front porch with rockers and a back porch with plenty of seating (where you can also have breakfast if you wish). They have off-street parking which is SO important in Pittsburgh--a very nice perk. We don't have enough superlatives to describe the Inn and it's staff! So much nicer than a large, impersonal hotel! I can't wait to go back and be pampered again!…
One-night staycation and sisters' mini reunion at the Inn on Negley couldn't have been more perfect. The Inn is meticulously maintained, pristine, and every comfort has been thought out for guests. From the stress-free onsite parking to the impeccable public rooms to gifted chef to the charming guestrooms--we can't help gushing. We booked Sunday afternoon tea, which set the tone: an elegant setting but gracious, un-stuffy welcome from Inn owner Liz, Chef Nick, and the staff. They offer a wide variety of hot teas including black, tisanes, ane herbal (and 2 black decaf). Yummy tea sandwiches, scones, and standout sweets brownies with ganache and sea salt and others, all served by an attentive staff that made us feel attended to yet never rushed. Kudos to evening innkeeper Kathleen, who anticipated every wish: iced water on the deck on an unusually humid evening, wine and cheese plate, tips for a dinner spot within a short walk (Pascha's in Shadyside, 5 minutes walk with inside and outside dining and delish Turkish dishes), and conversation that made us feel more like friends than paying guests. Thanks, Kathleen! The Cortland room featured luxurious linens, fluffy towels, room darkening shutters, and lovely decor. And a flat screen because even on a getaway you may want to stay in touch with the outside world... My litmus test is a good shower, and the Inn on Negley's was hot, strong, alongside L'occitane toiletries. A small but well-appointed sitting room (with a large closet) between the bedroom and bath with more than ample storage in case you're planning a longer--and high ceilings--made the suite feel spacious. As we were visiting on our last night before the out of town sisters headed home, we took full advantage of the parlor, front poor with rockers, and shaded back porch where you could have breakfast, and we rocked the evening away over a glass of wine. Breakfast choices are selected before retiring and included light and custardy sourdough French toast with lemon curd after a lovely fruit offering. Just right to start the day and--not surprisingly here--beautifully presented by Chef Nick. We could have chosen to stay at a large hotel downtown but were so happy with our choice and can't recommend The Inn on Negley enough, whether for a quick getaway or a special occasion. We hated to leave the Inn, but look forward to returning soon.…
