First time at this hotel and we stayed almost a full week. Since just past the 10th Street Bridge, you hang a quick right into the hotel registration area. If you are already in Southside, the safe way into this hotel is via Muriel Street, or you can go north on 10th and there is a dedicated left turn lane, but if you miss it, you’re on your way over the bridge. Your car will cost you $22/night for parking, unusual in our experience for a Holiday Inn Express branded hotel. Room was pleasant with plenty of electrical outlets to charge equipment, though the Internet was slow at times, and the black out window shade roller had a broken spring so it came down quickly and had to be hand rewound. Nice view out the window of downtown Pittsburgh. The hot breakfast was typical and the staff kept the food coming even when the hotel was quite full. If you need to do laundry, there is just one washer and one dryer, so plan carefully. More than once our room was not made up when we returned in the late afternoon. We camped in the lobby until done. But one day arriving late in the evening the room was never made up. On our last night they gave up and had us move into another room that did get housekeeping services, what a bother. Bathroom was generally clean as long as you didn’t take the plastic trash bag out of the trash container and look inside. There was plenty of immediate hot water with good water pressure.. Room HVAC worked well. The room had a nice separate sink, frig, microwave, coffee countertop area. Great there was a Dairy Queen in walking distance, a personal weakness. Parking fee of $22/night will keep us from returning, not to mention the lackadaisical approach to tracking rooms needing housekeeping service, or the stains in the linens. It was nice they took pity on our receiving poor housekeeping and waived the parking fee, but we wouldn’t chance this hotel again.

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience here with us on TripAdvisor. I am pleased to hear that you appreciated our prime location as well as our clean and comfortable accommodations. I do apologize for the slow wifi, we are currently undergoing an entire system upgrade. Be sure to check it out! Thank you for commending our breakfast hostess staff in keeping our breakfast bar fully stocked during a high-peak time. I certainly apologize for the lack of stayover service you experienced. Upon your feedback, this was addressed immediately and has since been corrected. I enjoy hearing that you found some of your favorite treats within walking distance! First off...I’ll say that it was clean. So there’s that. I loaded all our bags on to the only luggage cart...only to realize it has a flat wheel and wouldn’t budge so we had to make several trips to get our luggage to the room. Then right outside we ran into a shady guy who was sitting in the middle of the sidewalk with a $10 bill a few steps away. We notified the hotel that someone was going to get jumped if they bent down to get that money. So after that we didn’t overly feel safe outside. We took the shuttle to market square and the gentleman that operated it was super friendly and helpful. We called to get the shuttle back and were informed it’s broken now. So now we’re stranded and need walk back. Frustrating because it is a service that we look for when we are booking a hotel. We got back and asked the person in the lobby if the engine was broken on the shuttle and the man got super defensive and accused us not believing him. Then today, our last day here...our room wasn’t serviced. We went down to the desk to ask for toilet paper and fresh towels at least and we were told we’d have to wait on those items. We won’t be staying here again.

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience here with us on TripAdvisor. I appreciate your mention of our clean accommodations. Thank you also for mentioning how friendly and personable our shuttle driver was to you. That afternoon, our shuttle van had a coolant hose burst unexpectedly. I certainly apologize that this wasn't clearly communicated to you. We do hope you visit us again. We would love the opportunity to show you what our team of superstars is truly made of. Sincerely, Gladys B. Assistant General Manager

There was a very large area of mold on the ceiling, night staff talked so low & fast had to ask the same question 3 times, drain in bathtub drained extremely slowly so you were showing in 4” of dirty soapy water & it was hot in the room - air barely worked. Was really glad it’s was only for 1 night.

Hello Teri M, I'm sorry the standards at this location wasn't up your alley. I know attentiveness from staff and a working air conditioning could have made a difference. We want to be brilliant on the basics and your comments will help our management team to achieve that goal. Looking forward to your rebuild your confidence in our brand. Thank you for your trust! Probabaly one of the worst stays I've had. The wifi is spotty at best, so good luck getting work done. I tried to do laundry one night and there was no detergent in the coin dispenser. I go down to the front desk, and after waiting for over 15 minutes in line behind a group of people checking in; the woman working, Ms. Betty, told me that they keep detergent behind the desk now. Would have been nice to put up a sign on the dispenser and avoid the walk and wait. Later, the dryer stopped working completely. Ms. Betty did not apologize for the inconvenience or offer any type of points compensation I had to go to a laundromat to finish my clothes, and it took another 20 minutes for the shuttle driver to pick me up. Again Ms. Betty did not apologize and gave me attitude over the phone. So two things. One: this woman either needs an attitude adjustment or a new job. Her treatment of customers is unacceptable. Two: they need more staff during busy check in hours. There is no reason people should have to wait close to 20 minutes to check in or speak with the front desk. Overall terrible experience and I will not be back bully choice.

Convenient to the train station, and a really nice staff. We arrived pretty late, and were welcomed by a really friendly fellow at the front desk all the same. Late enough checkout, and good breakfast. Little heavy on the air freshener but a really great spot!
