This was a brand new experience for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. My check-in information was sent to me several hours ahead. The room was big and very comfortable. City sounds could be heard overnight (sirens, trucks, etc.). I’m an original city girl, so it didn’t impact my sleep at all. Street parking can be a bit limited, but I had parking directly across the street. Parking is free after 6pm until 8am the next morning (Sundays are free). I used the ParkMobile app to feed the meter. I didn’t know about providing my car information ahead of time to secure parking in a parking lot, but the street parking worked for me. Nice little touches like cookies and water are awaiting your stay as well as 2 chips to use for a drink at the bar downstairs. The only minor complaint that I had was the inability to watch the TV. I couldn’t get Netflix to cast to the TV, but that may have just been user error. I would make a small suggestion to have some disposable utensils on hand. This was a great location to get back and forth to CMU, while visiting my son. Lots of places to eat within walking distance or a short drive.
I would definitely stay here again.

I really enjoyed my short stay at The Maverick Kasa! Whoever decided to take the old YMCA and turn it in to a hotel, had a great vision coupled with brilliant execution. The rooms are unique and tastefully appointed. The building is VERY quiet due in large part to the turn of the century construction. The Maverick is in walking distance to hotels and bars, parking, while not free, is convenient.
My only complaint is the drive through Pittsburg, from the West Side, was a nightmare. But, hey, that’s Pittsburgh!
The Maverick is a great place, with a high quality, unique experience, at a price that beats the large hotel chains. Book it if you are going to Pittsburgh!

My boyfriend and I came to Pittsburgh specifically to explore the iconic stomping grounds of Mac Miller. The Maverick by Kasa was extremely close to all the locations we wanted to go to. Prior to arrival, the owner was in frequent contact with me. They sent many emails and messages with details regarding the booking. I found this very helpful as I was a bit worried about having self check in. Check in went as smooth as can be. When we got to our room, we were greeted with drinks, a snack and 2 complimentary tokens to the bar on the first floor (which was soooo cute). Our stay was absolutely perfect. It felt like living in my own little apartment for the 5 days we spent there. The room was extremely clean, literally not a speck of dust. The only downfall of the property is that there isn’t free parking. However, there is lots of parking available for a cheap price. I would definitely recommend this property.

It’s an interesting concept - a hotel that is virtually serviced. In other words, there are no humans in sight.
Imagine that you let yourself in to a funky, thoughtfully renovated and repurposed YMCA in downtown Pittsburgh. You press in your code and enter in a large lobby that’s sleek, kind of interesting, and utterly empty.
You take the elevator up to your room, pressing in another code to enter your large, airy room that’s decorated in a mid-century/IKEA style. It’s cool and it’s clean but it seems like a neutron bomb went off and you're the star of your very own Twilight Zone episode. There are just no people to be seen.
While it seems that a virtually-serviced space would be cool, the reality is a rather cold, cheerless and kind of creepy vibe. Honestly, I hope that this is not the future of hospitality.
I truly hate to crap all over this as someone has spent a lot of time and money setting this up and trying to get it right. However, it’s just not a place I’d like to come to again.

I stayed at "The Maverick" 1-12 to 1-14 2024 the room and check in was really good. there was a EDM event on friday on the first floor, and my bed was vibrating from the bass till 2am on saturday. my main issue is that they take a 250 dollar deposit upon booking and when i checked out a couple hours later they sent a email saying that i smoked in the room which i did not smoke in the room i smoked outside the hotel. they planted what looks like a bud or something. i took pictures of the room and i got screenshots of emails. i would not stay there again. if you book you might not get your deposit back!

BEWARE! Was in process of booking a stay and decided against it when the online form asked for my drivers license after providing my cc info. My cc was charged even though I didn't complete reservation. When I called to request a refund I was told this was impossible, they do not issue refunds/credits even if you call within 24 hours of online reservation. Their website in no way makes this clear anywhere during the process. SHAME ON THEM. Hope you fail.

The Maverick is a cool, modern, apartment style hotel with some of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. If I have to stay or tell a family member / friend to stay in Pittsburgh anywhere I will be recommending they stay here! No interaction with a front desk person. Literally book the room and the codes for the front door and your room door will be provided prior to checking in. The coffee provided I the room was fantastic. Although, this place is situated on a great area and has many places to eat within walking distance. Highly highly recommended if you can get a room here I would. The price was pretty standard considering the style and luxurious feel of this place! Thanks Maverick your place is truly awesome and one of a kind!

The Maverick is a beautiful building that is well-appointed and has a rich history. Seeing a historic building adopt the "virtual hotel" experience is exciting! While it's not your traditional hotel check-in experience, the process was easy and I received all the information ahead of my arrival. I didn't miss waiting to be assisted upon arrival and felt secure knowing that the front doors were locked and only other guests who had a code could enter. It was also reassuring to know that the Kasa team was available 24/7 to assist with any questions or needs that came up during my stay. I am a people person, but it's also nice to not be bothered. The rooms are spacious and include everything you need for a trip away from home! This was my second visit to the area and I really appreciated the addition of the bar in the lobby! It gave me a comfortable place to wind down in the evening before calling it quits. I can't wait to return!

The bed was very comfortable, and the Decor was most appealing. We loved the eclectic yet Bauhaus feel. It seems that the items were repurposed which is a great idea! Also loved the refillable soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion dispensers, huge windows, high ceilings, and overall airiness and space. Really liked the plants, but wished they were real.
