Close to Pittsburgh - Better Price
The hotel has definitely been remodeled recently. However, there a minor things that are noticeable wear, but can’t complain. These are pretty much the decals peeling everywhere and the caulk in the shower peeling away. These are minor. Arrival was pretty smooth. $25 per night for parking. There is parking in front of the hotel and also across from the hotel in a secured overflow lot. Staff was helpful and nice at the front desk. They don’t have much staff overall. So there are lines when you need guest services. Room overall is nice and clean, but definitely smells of dirty carpet and needs a clean refresh of some sort or some kind of deodorizer. Wall controlled AC, but be mindful it is on a sensor and if you leave the room for an extended period, it will turn off. Breakfast space is really small and gets congested. Only one person helping, but she’s doing great and the best she can! The food is good and plenty of choices. I just wish there was someone to help her clean the tables. They were very dirty and the wipe station was empty to be able to do it myself. For a Hampton Inn and $250 for the night, I definitely think this wasn’t the better experience. I choose this brand for a reason and this time was just ok. Overall, it was a comfortable bed, hot shower, good breakfast. They definitely need to focus on the busier days and details. I don’t want to knock the hotel because it was ok. I just don’t think it was the fest representative of the brand. Maybe for $150 a night.

Great Value and Location to Hospitals
My mom is currently a patient at UPMC Presby and I wanted a hotel room that was close and reasonably priced. I love Hamptons so I was pleasantly surprised to find one 0.4 miles from Presby. It’s really easy to get to the hospital from the hotel which is a huge bonus because I’m not familiar with Pittsburgh. It also feels like a safe location. The rate does not include parking, but another added bonus was that they do have a hospital rate at the hotel. My room is clean, has a fridge and a microwave. The staff have been pleasant and was able to provide me with information on the closest stores and laundromat. If you need it - Blvd Laundromat is a nice clean Laundromat and, again, I felt safe. They have modified their breakfast for CoVid and housekeeping comes every 3 days, but your adequately stocked and can easily get additional items if needed. All in all, a good stay and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area wanting an affordable room, in a safe location and close to the hospitals.

    Affordable to downtown
This hotel is a more affordable option for those who have a car visiting the downtown Pittsburg area. A hot breakfast, coffee (all day), and wifi is included, but parking is $15 per day. Our room was modern and clean, and had a nice view of the river.

Stayed here for Pitt move in. Parking was extra, hotel was too expensive. Nothing special however bed was comfortable. Breakfast not good just very basic. (Eggs from a bag) will not stay again. If you have AAA make sure you say that when you book it. Do not recommend.

When booking this hotel do not do it on line. Their website redirected me to a booking website which fleeced me in fees and booked a nonrefundable reservation. Call directly to book if not computer saavy.

Please avoid this hotel. It is in an undesirable part of town without any restaurants or anywhere to walk to. It mainly serves as a perch for the hospital. We paid $290 in August 23 to stay here one night and it was worth half that. When we realized we could’ve stayed somewhere nice 10 minutes away it was a lesson. Everything is small and old here. Everything looks shabby. In the spirit of open candidness, I should say that we are huge Hampton Inn fans - they are our preferred chain everywhere we travel in the world. The most alarming incident of this stay was at 9:40 PM when someone used a card to access our room and started opening the door. I had put the security latch across, which made the attempted door opening loud & really aggressive. My husband went to the door. The man outside acted surprised and said housekeeping sent him, but he had nothing with him, and he did not knock first, which housekeeping always does in hotels. It was unsettling. Without the security latch he would have been in the room and we were in bed. We will never return. Although we still love the Hampton Inn chain. Go 10 minutes away to the area on the other side of the river.

- The room was stinking when we checked in. No apologies offered. We asked for a room freshener. After some 'investigative questions' and our ability to answer those questions possibly well, we were given the room freshener! No regret offered even once. None. It seems 'stinking room' is a new normal at Hilton and needs to be accepted by guests! - Air conditioner settings turned to 'Heating' the moment we set the temperature to 23C! At a setting of 23 degree C, imagine the Air conditioner starting to heat the room! Did I go to the wrong school and learnt wrong lessons about temperature and its cooling/heating impact?! I think Hilton definitely went to a unique school! - Nothing to seat on in the room, except work chair (with a terribly small work desk) - despite huge empty space. - Broken/old closets. - We checked in around 8 pm, to leave at 8 am... so clearly, not using full hotel resources. Yet... well...

Was here to visit Duquesne University with my daughter. We didn't experience major problems but found the lobby dirty, our bed sheets were too small and kept coming undone and our door had a huge gap in it. This was not safe (room #413) The breakfast was great and the lady working the breakfast was a delight.

Let me begin by saying I’m a Hilton Honors silver member. I had a family member in ICU at UPMC and was staying in a room, booked by my Mom. I flew in from the west coast - it was late - the hotel lobby looked like it was in need of a good cleaning. Carpeting was a mess. I checked into room 502 (after a very long day) to find a jar of Vicks vapor rub left in the chair of the room (see pictures). This not only gave me the “ick” vibe, it proved my room had not been cleaned in between guests. There were crumbs found on the floor and an orange mildew was found in the bathroom (again, see pictures). The next day, I requested my room be cleaned and showed front desk my pictures. I returned to my room later in the evening, and although my towels had been replenished, the Vicks vapor rub still remained in the chair. Was my room ever cleaned? Who knows. The next morning, my smoke detector started chirping. I reported that to the front desk as well. The morning after that, it went off again. This isn’t even what upsets me. My uncle had been in ICU at UPMC since June 5 in critical condition. My aunt and my mom had been staying at this hotel to be close by because they live over 2 hrs away. We heard that Taylor Swift was invading the city and every hotel was booked. We were told the night of June 15 that my aunt could have a room with one queen bed for the hospital discount price, only to have this hotel call her on Friday afternoon to say they didn’t have a room available. They then proceeded to call back and tell her she could have it at the inflated rate of $400/night. She is looking at astronomical hospital bills, had already spent $2k on hotel bills since he first went in. That was a slap in the face. Hampton should have honored her hospital discount rate but instead profited off of Ms Swift. I’ve lost all respect for this chain and have since reported this to the UPMC social worker that suggested your hotel. I also plan to report this to corporate. Get your act together. This is disgraceful. You want to know where my aunt slept this past weekend? In a hospital recliner in her husbands room because she refused to leave him and had nowhere else to go. You’ve lost my business and I hope this deters others as well.

We are big fans of Hampton Inns but NOT this one! We were in town for a retirement dinner and choose to stay here as it was 1 of 2 hotels that they reserved rooms at.We have always had great experiences at HI. The positive of this hotel- the women that checked us in was very nice, room (618) was clean (a bit confused as to why the closest doors and all drawers were left opened) but very small. Now for the negative- There were full bags of garbage left near the elevator on the main floor as well as the 6th floor…they were still there 8 hours after check in (2:30), breakfast buffet was not restocked so we had a very limited choice to choose from and the tables were not cleaned. There was an employee working the area so I was a bit confused as to why she didn’t restock the buffet or wipe down the tables as needed. There was also a full bag of garbage next to the trash can. I have stayed at a hotel where bags of trash are left behind…Not a good look! We are Hilton honor members and stay at Hilton hotels often, I’m not sure why we were put in such a small room as the hotel wasn’t full the night we were there. If you are staying more than one night you don’t want room 618 as it feels claustrophobic with 2 people. If this had been our first experience staying at a Hampton Inn I don’t think we would ever choose to stay at another one. We will not be returning to this hotel when in Pittsburgh.

I stayed here because my mom was having surgery nearby at UPMC Presbyterian. Laurie in the breakfast area was especially kind and thoughtful while I was getting my breakfast both days -she was cheery and positive which is what you need when you are alone and worried about your loved one in the hospital. If you need a smile in the morning with your coffee ask for Laurie-she was great!
