A great stay in Pittsburgh, PA over the weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton downtown Pittsburgh! We were in town to attend the Taylor Swift Concert and the hotel was in a very convenient location right across from the T.
The rooms were very clean and the staff was fantastic, including houseman, Mike who was very friendly and helpful! The Taylor Swift Themed Photo Booth was a nice enhancement for the girls photo op! Enjoyed a cocktail in the Bigelow Grille. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in the "burgh"!

I’ve said this hotel several times for the past couple years. It’s proximity to the PPG center is great. I noticed this time that some of things we used to enjoy about the hotel story to slip.
Your staff at the front desk in valet are great, very accommodating very polite and very friendly.
Oh Hilton is that a great job sanitizing the high touch areas of each guest room we noticed that the hotel room as a whole was not very clean. You can tell the door knobs and handles have been sanitized but we also found black here for the bathroom and in the bathtub itself. Also there are still tape hanging from the ceiling for the last guest apparently and hung balloons. That’s a far cry from where it was just a few years ago when the rooms are immaculate.
This hotel also no longer offers a breakfast because of Covid. Of course this is an anywhere on the hotels website. When you arrive explain this to you and it also offer you a chance to either take Hilton points or to receive a 10 door at bat voucher to get report breakfast items from the 7-Eleven and that includes coffee. It’s been over a week and I’m still waiting for my points. Hotels restaurant is only open for evening hours once again this is because of Covid. But while we were staying there there was a large wedding reception in the hotel. They were able to serve for the drinks and food To the wedding party over lunch but not for the hotel guests. If the restaurant has to be closed for breakfast and lunch out of fear of Covid why would they have several hundred people at a wedding reception????
Ever since the Marriott across in the PPG closed the double tree is become the closest hotel to the PPG center. I guess he figured since they have no real competition they can let their standard slide. And they have slid. This is not the great hotel i use to visit.

Thank you for submitting a review regarding your recent time with us. We do apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay as we have reported them to our Housekeeping department to be more diligent in ensuring the rooms are completely cleaned and sanitized for our guests safety. The Hilton Honors points we distribute in lieu of breakfast for our Gold & Diamond members take a bit longer than the standard 72 hour process as it needs to be submitted through a different channel for our guests. We apologize for the delay in those but they will appear in time on your account. As well for weddings and events within the hotel with the our restaurant being closed these services are being out sourced by the individuals as we do not wish to interfere with our current limited dining experience for our guests. We thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. We hope you give us another chance in the near future. For now stay safe and stay healthy!

So I had quite a few issues at this hotel, but before I go into that, I will say they are following Hilton’s clean room stay and the sleeping quarters was nice.
Note the reason for the 2.5 stars was the misinformation about how to price match guarantee. The front clerk told me I needed to book the room then when I came in fill out some paperwork to be refunded the difference. However this is not true. All you have to do is call Hilton honors and provide them the website to verify and they will adjust the price accordingly. The next issue which for me was a big one, the plumbing had issues draining in the bathtub and the sink. I had to run the water in the sink at a trickle so it wouldn’t overflow and the shower too. So this made out a nightmare to bath. The final issue was the restaurant was closed during my stay, and this made a huge impact as I was told it was open. I like to eat out in the towns I see, but sometimes I don’t have the time to do this. So this was a big issue for me as I would had stayed somewhere that had a restaurant open in the hotel. I can only hope this was only a one time thing and that things are better there now. However as of now I cannot recommend this hotel at the price they charge. Plus the location is meh at best.

We drove across the country and decided to book 4 separate nights at Hilton hotels along our drive from Boston to LA, but we decided to cancel all of our reservations after our first stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton (Hilton) in downtown Pittsburgh - across from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

We arrived at the Hilton just passed midnight after our long drive from Boston. The front desk representative checked us in. Since we were parking on the street in front of the hotel with the emergency blinkers on, we asked where to park safely. She told us to make 3 right turns around the hotel, then park at the garage across the street. We parked there, came back, and got our room card/key for a room on the 8th floor. The representative who helped us was no longer there. Since the garage is exposed to street, I asked if our car would be safe overnight because we have stuff in our car. We found out then, we parked in the wrong garage as the correct garage is directly below the Hilton hotel. After paying $4 for about 5 minutes of parking, we parked in the right garage. 15 minutes later,we entered our hotel room. We were disappointed right away as the room was not made up. We came back to the front desk, and were given another room, which also on the 8th floor. This time, the room key didn't work. We had to return to the front desk again. To be sure we would not have to return to her again, I asked politely for the rep to be SURE that the room is made up and clean because we were very tired and sleepy. She assured us that our room was. To our frustration, the 3rd room was uncleaned. The tissues were on the TV cabinet, the used towels were on the floor and on edge of the sofa with shampoo and conditioner bottles opened in the bathtub and some blue stains can be seen spilling out on the bathtub wall, etc. - another word, the room was used by the previous guests and it was not cleaned by the hotel's housekeeping employees. We returned to the front desk and complained that we were promised that the 3rd room would be cleaned and it wasn't. The front desk representative was very rude and simply said her computer shows it was ready and cleaned even after we showed her pictures of the unmade up room. We asked for another CLEANED room to sleep in as by that time it was almost 1 am! After waiting for another 10 minutes, we we finally given a clean room, except we made a king size bed, but were given a room with 2 double beds!!! Needless to say, we simply went to bed and left early the next day and continued our drive to LA. These pictures were taken in the 3rd hotel room, the pictures taken of the first hotel room were too large to upload.

We stayed at the Hilton during Valentines Day weekend. Let me start off by saying I think the whole hotel could use a renovation, it just seems a bit dated. Our room was not as clean as we would have liked, and the hotel amenity areas seemed dirty. In particular the pool area could really use some cleaning and updating. The worst part of the hotel are the elevators, they are extremely slow. Sometimes it took me over ten minutes to get to the lobby.

There are also several bright spots to this hotel. The valet was wonderful, and very helpful. We really enjoyed the comfort of the hotel, the mattress was easy to sleep on. It would be nice to have an extra blanket, but understand that might now be possible due to Covid. The best part of the hotel is surely the gentleman at the front desk Felippe. He was so kind to let us have a late check out, and was even able to secure silverware for us after our delivery food did not have any. He was so kind and pleasant I would love to work with him at any Hilton property I stayed at! Overall the property isn't bad, it just is a bit dated.

I’ve always considered DoubleTree by Hilton a fairly “safe” brand to stay with for quick trips since most are updated, clean, and have great service. Unfortunately, this location fell short on all accounts.

1. While check-in was quick, the front desk did not/would not provide the usual branded cookies. A small miss, but it set the tone for the rest of the stay.
2. I was forced to load and transport my own luggage cart as the bellhop and valet simply ignored me.
3. The only bar and restaurant at the property was understaffed, which meant there was no bar service until 5pm the entire weekend.
4. While I am aware that most hotels have chosen to opt out of daily room cleaning services, I still expect there to be service IF NEEDED. We were left without additional towels and bath tissue when requested and told to “come down to the front desk to pick it up” after calling to request it a 2nd time.
5. The room itself needed serious upgrades. Shower was chipped and the wallpaper (seriously?) was peeling in the closet fashioned as a bathroom.

All things considered, I regret selecting this location over other hotels that I’m sure would have been better suited. I’ll rethink choosing a DoubleTree going forward as there doesn’t seem to be much consistency across the brand.

When we arrived on 1/31 there were no spots left in the parking garage but we were told we could park in their alternate lot at the Boy Scouts of America, which was 1/2 mile away. As we were walking back to the hotel, a shuttle came along and gave us a ride. Therefore, when we departed, we assumed we would receive the same shuttle service, especially since we'd have our luggage and the walk back to the lot was all uphill. At time of check out I asked how to arrange a shuttle and was crudely informed that they don't offer that service. I explained the situation when we we arrived and was immediately cut off with the exact same response. I asked if there was someone from the parking garage that I could speak to since it became apparent that the hotel and parking garage were not affiliated, which was hard for me to understand because the hotel charged us for the parking. So, in response to me asking for a shuttle service I was informed that parking was first come, first serve and that they don't offer a shuttle service. However, on their website it lists the following hotel amenity: "Guests can get around on the complimentary shuttle, which operates within 2 mi." To add salt to the wound, when we got the bill, not only did they charge us for parking but they also added a valet fee!!!! Unbelievable! The other issue I had, was the mold in the bathroom. It wasn't just a couple of spots. The corner was caked with black mold and it was spreading along the top of the walls. See pictures below. (btw we stayed in room 1303)

Despite the mediocre reviews I booked this hotel given its close proximity to an event I was attending. My arrival timeline was tight so I liked that they offered valet parking and the Hilton digital key so I could arrive quickly and easily. I was wrong on both accounts. The parking garage was full and was so crowded you would have thought they were giving away free cars. The digital key did not work and gave a message that said I had to go to the front desk to check in. The line was long as several people were complaining about things ranging from the elevators not working to the parking. There was no special line for Hilton Honors check in (I am Diamond status) so I painfully waited 15 minutes that I didn't have. I finally got checked in and quickly learned that yes, the elevators were malfunctioning and not remembering which floor they were to go to, which resulted in a significant time investment to get to the 15th floor.

The hallways and rooms are in significant need of a remodel, and after a few minutes in my room I discovered that the toilet did not flush. They said they would send someone "as soon as they could" but were not willing to even give a rough estimate of when that might be despite nicely asking the question several times. The toilet repair man basically informed us that the water takes about 20-30 minutes to fill up before you can flush the toilet a 2nd time. Normally we would ask for a new room, but realizing that might take the rest of the weekend we lived with it as we were only there one night.

Honestly, Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name affiliated with this property as it urgently needs to be either upgraded, sold, or bulldozed. I would avoid this hotel at all cost and will likely be taking a Hilton break after this experience.

The room smelled like cigarette smoke. The wall paper was pealing off the walls. The ceiling was cracked and pealing paint. The wall hanging had old stickers on it from a past guest. I had checked in on line and picked my room but when I arrived the gave me a different smaller room for no reason and the lady said she couldn’t give me the room I picked. The only positive note for the room was the water was hot and the shower had good pressure. Overall not a great experience for as a new Hilton Honors member.

The hotel is close to a lot of eateries and activities. However, the hotel seems to be under staffed and don’t provide room cleaning daily unless requested a night in advance. There was no mention of this during check in or anywhere in the room. They also don’t deliver room service to the room and need you to pick it up from the restaurants. They would not drop off additional comforters in the room and required me to pick it up from the lobby. For a platinum member most Hilton properties offer a couple of bottles of water in the room daily, not this one. One bright spot - parking garage attendants. They were quick to get your car day not night. They have a good system in place for valet parking.
