I made reservations at this hotel 2 months ago. Just received an email saying they cancelled the reservation. Customer service stated that they overbooked the hotel and since other platinum members reserved after me they cancelled my reservation. They admitted they have no statement on their website that states that the reservation may be cancelled if they are full and a higher level member makes a reservation ( i am a member ). Then I receive an email a few minutes later from Brian that states that unfortunately my reservation is cancelled due the hotel being closed through Oct 2022 due to the Covid Pandemic. I call back and find out, that that email is a lie. It's open it;s just now sold out. Will never stay at a Marriott hotel again.

I stayed at this property multiple times in the last few years, and will never return. I had planned to stay at this property for a wedding in April of 2022. Knowing how busy Pittsburgh gets around graduation time, I booked my room in October of 2021, naively believing I would be able have confidence in my travels. After all, I'm a Titanium rewards member, and Marriott values loyalty, right? Wrong. My reservation was cancelled a few days ago without my consent. Out of the blue, the hotel emailed me (and I can only assume every guest) that "the hotel was in a place where we had to make the tough decision to close due to the pandemic. We regret to share we will not be reopening by April as we hoped, which requires us to cancel your reservation. Due to nature of the pandemic and the economic implications the city's hospitality industry has been affected with, the hotel's closure relocation will not be provided by the hotel." The hotel was not listed as closed at any point prior to this surprise announcement. Even more, the property manager, Brian McCahill, refused to offer any compensation, despite the fact that - due to their cancellation of my reservation - I am now shopping for hotels that are charging as much for a single night as I was going to pay for my whole stay! When I contacted Mr. McCahill to receive the compensation benefits promised to reward members when the property pulls a stunt like this, I was again denied and disappointed. He took no responsibility for the inconvenience he put upon his guests, and insisted that the delta variant is somehow responsible for this decision, despite delta rates peaking 5 months ago. All in all, this property is a disgrace to the Marriott brand. I will never stay here again, and encourage any visitors to Pittsburgh to do the same unless you too want to have your reservation cancelled without warning and be left scrambling.

Great location but terrible customer service. Received an email canceling my reservation for 2 upcoming stays in October. No reason was given in email. After 1 hour on phone with Marriott they finally determined it is closing due to Covid until next year. Wry strange that no other hotels in area are closing? Even some of the other Marriott properties. Completely unacceptable no one at Marriott notified us and there was no message on their website either. Now all hotels in area are unavailable. Time to look into a new hotel chain to use!! Very disappointing.

This review is a year late but memorable enough that when I was reviewing a recent stay, I remembered that I had wanted to review Pittsburgh Marriott City Center and never did. I stayed there in fall 2019 for the Mid-Atlantic Popular Culture Association Conference. It's great as a conference hotel because it has the space and amenities without being too pricey - usually I stay at a cheaper place when attending conferences. Comfortable, convenient, clean, quiet. There was also a concierge who really helped me a ton - I'm not 100% sure but I think his name was Brad (he was a young, slender guy). I'm legally blind, and so getting around new places is sometimes challenging. I explained my situation and so he went out of his way to find out where I needed to go (the front desk staff didn't always know, especially with some of the more informal events connected to the conference). The conference rooms were perfectly sized and equipped with computers if I remember correctly. The one downside is that the restaurant did not have many vegetarian options and was a bit pricey. I believe they had a bean burger that was quite good, and the server was very courteous and attentive. There also didn't seem to be too many nearby vegetarian-friendly restaurants, as I remember struggling to find ones that I could walk to, but that is what you get in Downtown Pittsburgh (have to go to surrounding neighborhoods for such places). Probably should have asked for advice but I already felt like I was asking so many questions and did not want to be a bother.

The front desk employee, Kevin, and the entire staff made sure that I had a great stay at this Marriott hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this city or just passing through.

Being a Marriott bon vey members for over 20 years, we have stayed in lots of Marriott hotels and this ranks up there as of of the worse stays . We had extremely rude people few doors down that decided to take very loud , cursing, and rude phone calls from the hallway at 10pm . We called down to the front desk to notify them. 10:30 doors start slamming. 11:00 more loud screaming matches. 12 am slamming doors again. Called down to the front desk . From 12-3am much of the same . At 3 am we had had enough so my husband called the front desk again and they did NOTHING! From 10 pm - 3 am we were woken every half an hour by these guest who thought they were the only ones in the building and the Marriott did nothing about it. We just drove 6 hours from nj and all we wanted was to go to sleep. I don’t think we got more then 3 hours sleep that night. Also the area around the hotel is desolate and nothing to eat or do around it. My recommendation is go to another hotel. Marriott do better!

We came out to Pittsburgh for the Steeler Rams game and had an absolute great time at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. From checkin to check out what a great time. We had 2 other couples with us there were a total of 7 of us in 3 rooms. We have stayed here numerous times but our friends were totally impressed with the service and the professionalism of the entire staff. Couple quick shout outs to the outstanding service from all the bar employees and also the service at the restaurant too. We are a large loud group and ate at the bar/restaurant 2 out of our 3 night stay and the food and the service were impeccable. Brad and Kevin were very helpful. The shuttle driver Paul was super. He even found a credit card that one of our group accidentally left in the van. Great job Paul thank you. We will always stay here when we come to Pittsburgh. Great job, front desk, valet, bartenders, restaurant servers everyone. Can’t wait to come back.

We were staying here for a high school hockey tournament. I was concerned, being downtown, with parking situations and congestion. It was a waste of mental effort, being concerned. We were given a pass to park in garage directly beneath the hotel. Valet was also available. It was easy in/easy out every time we needed to. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. For being downtown, I found the price reasonable. Would stay here again. Extremely convenient for a Penguins game, right across the street.

Would have given it a 5 but the place could use a bit of updating but having said that the staff were fantastic. Especially Bradley at the front who always had a smile , always went out of his way to help and always was there with a hello. Quick check in...the only downfall was just as we were there for a Pens game so were a lot of other people and the elevators were pushed to their max - but that's what happens when you're popular. Did have an issue where our room simply wasn't made up one day which was irritating but not that big a deal. Workout area was good. Room service was terrific. Would absolutely stay there again and the arena was 1 block away. Bellmen were great!

Clean hotel and very friendly staff! I only gave it a four-star due to when there is a game or concert at the arena next to the hotel they should ask guests when booking their reason for the visit and put people in rooms according to what they are there for. When I stay there and there is a game or concert I cannot sleep with the partying and noise late at night. Maybe put the concert and game goers near one another.
