The bad reviews are puzzling. The front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. Our room was perfectly clean, comfortable, and attractive. The bathroom fixtures were older, but spotless. I did not test the slipperiness of the tub (I rather expect wet soapy surfaces to be slippery.) but there was a sturdy grab handle attached to the wall “just in case”. Breakfast was completely adequate. (One note: Even with help from Waze and my wife, I missed the entrance on the first try.)

Truthfully, we were rather reluctant to return here after reading some of the reviews ;-( HOWEVER, we were pleasantly surprised!! The front desk staff is helpful and welcoming. Our room was spacious and spotless, comfortable, and homelike. The beds were comfortable, and we slept well. Many of us gathered in the lobby for the continental breakfast and chatted like we were old friends. We are VERY HAPPY that we returned here after such a long absence. This is STILL A GOOD PLACE!!

We stayed one night as we were in town for a concert. This is a very small, older independently owned (non-franchise) hotel. There is only one floor, with maybe 20 rooms. The room was average size with two double beds. There is a definite musty smell as soon as you walk in. The beds were clean and comfortable. The carpeting could use some deep cleaning, as there were some stains here and there. The bathroom was clean, but again, could use some TLC as there were rust stains here and there. The check in staff was friendly and accommodating. They offer a selection of pastries, mini muffins and coffee in the morning. For one night, it was fine, especially at the price we paid.

I booked this on line after reading what I thought were ok reviews and a good price and we like to support local businesses.. We checked in on Friday late afternoon and we had an event at 6:00 so we quickly unpacked and showered. My husband stepped into the bathtub and almost fell because the tub is so super slippery. No bath mat and no non-skid strips!! Luckily he was able to catch himself. I noticed that when I took my shoes off the carpet felt damp and it was definitely dirty! The room had a musty smell too. When we came back and got ready for bed, my husband started coughing and said he felt like he was breathing something in from somewhere in the room and we both noticed that the ceiling had some strange spots all over. He’s had recent respiratory issues so he went to the front desk to see if we could get a different room. The lady at the front desk said that they only had one other room because they were “totally booked”. We packed up and moved to the new room which appeared to be better. HOWEVER, I went to plug in my phone behind the nightstand and I saw MOLD all over the rug! It went between the beds and all around one bed!! No one should be exposed to mold, let alone sleep in a bed surrounded by it!!! Again, we packed up and informed the front desk that we could not stay on that room and we asked for a refund! She was apologetic and said she would refer it to the manager who would be in touch regarding a refund. It’s now 11:30 at night and we have no hotel! Thank God for Hampton Inn who gave us a great room. Yes, it cost more but lesson learned - You get what you pay for!! We did talk to the manager about the refund and we got one but no apology at all for the deplorable conditions! Check your room carefully if you decide to stay. Look st our pictures!
