Service: Absolutely great. John and staff are so friendly and accommodating ... they even reserved a table for us without our asking just because we talked about the view. John has a lot of good recommendations for food and shopping in the area as well...More
We stayed here early July 2017. We found the owner and staff very warm and friendly. All his town advice was right on point. We loved that once we parked the car we were able to bike the paths and walk the town without ever...More
For the room $$$...a disappointment. Generic, packages of soap..no lotion, shampoo (innkeeper would bring if requested) no control of the thermostat (innkeeper would adjust when asked), a strata served cold. Courtyard unswept, garden overgrown. Nothing special for $287 a night.
We had a great weekend here. We stayed in room 1, in the main house. It has a private porch. It was quiet. The towpath was just a few feet away. Breakfast both mornings was delicious. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for....More

Thank you both so much for choosing to stay here with us at Porches. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back and visit again. The Fall is a really pretty time to come back.
My family and I stayed in three rooms here for our wedding weekend about a year ago. It was a wonderful long weekend and our best memories are of the time spent at Porches on the Towpath. John and all of the staff were very...More

By coincidence, I just returned today from another fabulous stay at Porches and asked the owners your question. Room 11, which is in a separate building from the main house, is a lovely room that is ground level and has a seat in the shower. (I stayed in this room on a previous visit and loved it.) All of the beds in all of the rooms are high, however, so depending on the handicap, that might be an issue. There are a few steps (three or four) that must be climbed going into the main house where where breakfast is served on the porch in nice weather and in the dining room off season, but they will also deliver breakfast to your room upon request. I would suggest calling the management with more specific details about the handicap to ensure that Porches is an appropriate accommodation. It certainly is fabulous from all other perspectives!

Yes. We have ice buckets for your wine. We could (depending on how big whatever you wanted to keep cold) put your food in our refrigerator. However, we do lock the kitchen over night, so you would either have to get it before we leave for the evening or wait until the next morning. Hope this helps, Bob
