Detailed Reviews
I've been working from home for months and really needed a change of scenery that felt safe. I rented a park model RV with my boyfriend and adult son. It was all that I hoped for. The site was private and very well shaded (not right on top of other RV's) and had ample outdoor seating overlooking the small lake. We enjoyed sitting around our campfire watching the fireflies at night. The RV was well appointed with air conditioning and 2 TV's. The shower is difficult if you are tall (as in most RV's), but the hot water was plentiful.
Yes, you can hear the quarry down the road all day long. This is a very nice campground so the noise was not enough to ruin anything, but it was disappointing to hear it when I would have preferred to hear only the croaking bullfrogs when I sat on the deck with my morning coffee.
Additionally, I wish that I had better guidance regarding packing. The website says to bring your own pots and pans. I've never had to do this at any other rental. I packed a bag of pots and pans, but found the RV had pots and pans. What the RV did not have was a strainer , cutting board or knife. So I wasted space bringing things that I did not need and went to dollar tree to pick up things I did need. (Which I left behind for future renters). Also there were no hangers. I like to hang my clothing, but made do without.
I don't want to end with the list of negatives. This really is the loveliest campground I have stayed at. Paved roads, tree lined sites, and adjacent to state park land via a connecting trail.
We did not use the pool or public amenities which were open as we preferred to be extra cautious during the pandemic.

Just got back from a wonderful weekend getaway at LIW. We are in South Jersey and even with traffic it took us 90 minutes to get there - not too bad! We stopped at Stampede BBQ beforehand for lunch - excellent food. We still had time to kill so we also visited Green Dragon flea market (open only on Fridays, mix of indoor and outdoor vendors) which was a neat experience.
Check in was great, now you just pull up to the gate and they have attendants who provide you your keys and info packet without needing to leave the car. We rented a golf cart, which was already waiting for us at our cabin. Note the property is quite expansive and hilly, you will probably want one, especially if you have a site near Brotherhood circle.
Accommodations were great. We stayed in Eagles Nest, which is a modern cabin with AC, full kitchen, screened in porch, and bathroom. The unit was clean and inviting. Ceiling fans throughout too! A newer flat screen TV in the living room and master.
We had great weather and took advantage of the pool. We also painted ceramics, played bingo, played mini golf, and enjoyed the drive-in (golf cart) movie. All but the movie was an additional cost of a few dollars. We decided not to bring a lot of food so we had a few meals at the Gnome cafe. Breakfasts were hearty and my hubby and I split ours each morning. Reasonable, quick, yummy. You can save $ and bring coffee or water.
Aside from linens and towels, you may also wish to bring: dish soap, trash bags, cooking oil, tongs for the grill, salt and pepper, sponge for dish washing, dish towel, paper towels. Toilet paper was provided.
We had a minor issue with the AC but a maintenance person came right out and fixed it quickly for us. We were very pleased with the service.
Accommodations were $216/nt, golf cart $60/nt. Not the cheapest but definitely worth it for the quality and amenities.

This was always called Lake in Wood and has always been a great well kept campgrounds. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it has a very poor dog run( if you want to call it that). It is very small and always wet, in the summer you get eaten by 🪰. We have been going there for 20 years and it has always been enjoyable, Sun has been keeping it well kept, and have done replacement signage internally which looks very nice. The sites are very nice with many of them having concrete pads. They have some very interesting rental cabins along with the more standard ones. There is a very nice pool and restaurant on-site. If you are looking for a nice weekend camping trip this is one to book. They book up very quickly and far in advance.

Well cared for campground, we rented a cabin which was small but very clean upon arrival. They have limited utensils, no soap or toilet paper and other small things so bring everything you will need. The cabins were pretty expensive for what you get ie. you have to pay for putt put golf, paddleboats, and everything else besides your cabin rental. Cafe was closed every day we were there and children's activities were limited to Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. I'm sure at one time this was a happening place. Shame it's such a beautiful campground and the 6 acres lake has enough fish to catch , we caught bream, catfish and bass! The pool was nice but almost not useable because of the small pebble skirting around it that felt like tacks going into your feet every time you walked on it, OUCH! Get a golf cart, $60 daily to get around as it is 200 acres! Friendly staff, excellent! Tv didn't work first two days. Limited cell phone use as it is pretty rural. Overall a good time for the 4 days we were there, it's a shame most things were closed due to not getting help to work. 50/50 chance we would return.

We had to cancel our reservations because of a vehicle breakdown, and called as soon as we knew we wouldn't be able to keep our dates. We were assured we would get a full refund because of having called early, and in our distress over having to cut our trip short, didn't realize that the refund wasn't issued. When we spoke with Kim today, she accused us of lying about having cancelled our reservations, and refused to honor the full refund. So, we will never stay here on our future trips, and want to warn others to be careful to document if you should have to cancel a trip.

I rented the yurt for a mid-week rental for a quick getaway with my husband and 2 children. The yurt is unique and definitely something different to try, and had enough amenities for this city girl who enjoys comfort. The yurt rental came with a pedal boat, and we enjoyed boating on the small lake and fishing. We also rented a golf cart (not included in the room rental) to tour the campground and discovered a number of cute, unique rentals (a tipi, a caboose, and a tree house). My main complaint about the yurt is that it was HOT with zero shade, however there were many campsites that were shaded so we may try one of those in the future. The yurt was also overrun by ants—it had trashcans without lids and a good stainless trash can with a tight-fitting lid probably really would have helped. We also saw some baby snakes under the yurt although I guess this is to be expected when camping! Because it was so hot, we spent a fair amount of time at the pool which was clean and very nice! We were disappointed that the swim up bar was closed however! The campground is in a really good location a short drive from Philadelphia, so we’ll be back, but will probably try one of the more shaded rentals next time!

What a wonderful place to spend quality time with the family! We rented multiple cabins and a red carpet RV site in late July. Golf carts are worth spending a little extra to see and enjoy the entire resort. Lots of fishing and kayaking on the lake and swimming in the indoor/outdoor pool. The Gnome Cafe was such a treat, hardly cooked because the Ladies cooked such awesome food! The horseshoe pit area was so enchanting. It will forever be known as the Secret Garden because our Grandchildren believe fairies live there. We loved every moment at Lake In Wood and can't wait to go back!

Our first trip of the season to Lake In Wood was a great pick. First of all check in was very easy and everyone in the office/store were very friendly. We went back in to the store a couple of times and everyone was very helpful. Our site was well maintained and ready for us when we got there. We rented a golf cart for our stay as well. All golf carts, even the ones driven by the worked are all electric, so it kept things quiet. The scenery was very nice and there is a lot to look at. The most impressive thing about this camp ground I thought was the entire place was paved. No running over gravel and no dust!!!! Some of the sites were gravel but that’s about it. It was a very peaceful stay. 3 things to think about. One is during the weekend it takes a bit to sign on to the WiFi so be patient. Second if your going somewhere outside of the camp ground make sure you get a gate key! And last a few miles away there is a quarry. During the week you can here it in the distance during the day and into the evening, but it’s quiet around 9:30 or so. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked it with our friend for the same time in 2021.

I love the unique rentals! My husband and I have stayed in the caboose and the Conestoga wagon. The caboose had a bad ant problem by the sink and a sewage problem the day we went. We did let the staff know and it was fixed and better, but the smell was still not good. The wagon is still our favorite! We’ve stayed at the wagon about three times! The wagon is so neat in that it has heat and air conditioning and a tv! If the weather was not good and we didn’t feel like cooking we would bet food at the food truck called Happy Dog Kettle and Grill onsite frequently which really made it so we could relax if we didn’t feel like grilling!
What really sells the place to me is all the fun activities! Lake in Wood has tons of fun stuff to do and a very friendly staff! We’ve done bingo, pool, shuffle board contest, hiking, ice cream every day, ceramics, live music, paddle boating, and mini golfing! It’s been so nice to escape the house during the pandemic! We also love renting the golf carts which I think are reasonable! I really suggest renting a golf cart. Especially if your lugging stuff to the pool and back or from the store and back (like firewood). So cool to just go off and find all the unique rentals throughout the campground.
Thanks so much Lake in Wood we can’t wait to see you in 2021!

+1
Stayed in the caboose for two days, there were ants swarming over kitchen counter. Had to put food in fridge whole time we were there (we saw just before we checked in that a previous camper had a concern over the ants.) Tolerable for short stay, but any longer would have been intolerable, especially for amount of money we were paying. We wound up NOT using any of the provided dishes and utensils in the drawers as the ants were on the drawers as well. We realize its the outdoors and cabooses weren't originally made for year-round living, however, we see other campgrounds with cabooses and wondering if they have similar problems. Ant traps are for sale in the campground shop; we were also wondering why they weren't placed in the caboose in the first place.
Otherwise, we had an enjoyable stay. Kid enjoyed the pool. Wi-fi was adequate for my smart phone. Clean campground, plenty of garbage cans as well as dumpsters. If you need groceries, get them before you come here - there's stores in Morgantown, about a 20 minute drive.

I would call Lake in Wood first. I don't think it would be a problem. You could park at the office and walk over to the Gnome cafe. There are Gnomes throughout the campground at various spots in the woods also.
their site crashed. go to the face book page
I went in the pool and hot tub in early October. The room is totally closed off for winter. The room itself is heated and the pool is heated. The hot tub was very warm but not hot. Still enjoyable. No kids in the hot tub but it's attached to the pool and divided by a wall so you could relax in the hot tub and still be right there to watch older kids swim.
