I do not recommend this inn. We stayed here for 2 nights in August and were very excited because of all the great reviews. It was supposed to be a highlight of our 3 week east coast road trip. My issues: 1. Constant pressure to eat at their "100 mile restaurant" (emails and calls before our stay, pressure everytime we...

Thank you for taking your time to write.I am quite confused about the issues you raised although it has been almost 3 1/2 months since you were here so I may very well have forgotten. 1. Constant pressures to eat here. Calls? e-mails? Signs in the room? Perhaps you got an automatic e-mail from our booking engine. I stopped that...

We were the last guests of the season (and for good reason... the weather was not our friend) and while the owner of the Chanterelle Inn couldn't quite figure out why we were there, she was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. She also prepared delicious meals for us, proudly made from local ingredients. The only drawback...

I consider it a "good omen" that you and your family were our last guests before closing! We enjoyed having you. As far as "couldn't quite figure out why you were there"---just a matter of curiosity as the weather is unpredictable in late October. I wish I had done more of an introduction to the room: the lamps were on...

After reading such great reviews, I booked 2 nights during our 2 week travels through the Maritimes. After a long drive, my husband and I arrived around 5 pm. We were obviously too tired for the 11 mile drive back down the curvy road to the nearest restaurant. We were allowed to eat without reservations, if we ate early. The...

Thank you for taking time to write a review. I am sorry you thought the inn and food were overpriced. We go to great lengths to provide an environmentally healthy space and locally produced food prepared in our own kitchens. We do not use pre-packaged products so that I can tell guests just where their food is coming from, especially...

Our stay at the Chanterelle was so relaxing. The site is beautiful, and it is very centrally located if you plan on visiting National Park, the Cabot Trail or other parts of Cape Breton. The staff was friendly and made sure that we were comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and offered a different variety of tasty things each of the...

The Chanterelle Inn lives in two worlds; one of them is a fine dining restaurant and the other is a quaint and cozy Inn. The fact that we had a bad experience on the restaurant side here can be chalked up to communication problems and nothing to do with the quality of the food,(which we didn't taste) or the ambience...

Thank you for writing such a lengthy review. I appreciate your time. A couple of points I would like to clarify: 1) The notice that "Reservations are Required" for dinner was always on the web site but because you overlooked it, we have made it more prominent so thank you for that suggestion. Your fellow travelers coming from PEI obviously...

We stayed one night and I wish it could have been a week. While it's a little off the beaten path, it's well worth the trip and the cost. Our room was beautiful, the setting amazingly peaceful and the staff was wonderful. The food was amazing and all locally sourced.

This place was recommended in The Sunday Times Travel magazine, much of the focus being on the good hearted nature of the proprietress. When we met her at breakfast she and it (the breakfast) lived up to expectations. We had delicious home made muesli, yoghurt, peach conserve and blueberry pancakes served with sausages and maple syrup.. There are some very...

Thank you for taking your time to review the Inn. We have to admit that the entrance seems somewhat obscure and we will work to clarify that. And I am sorry you had an issue with the dinner and that you were not offered an alternative. As to the haddock, it was not battered. You may recall that it was...

Excellent and clean. Rooms are much nicer than photos show....more like a boutique hotel really. Very clean and classy! 2 beautiful soft beds in a clean room. Excellent breaky though a bit odd as they are weird about quantities eaten! Excellent view.

The food is amazing and is home cooked with quality ingredients and recipes. In addition to it being a B & B they also offer dinner for a charge. We missed that the first night of our 2 night stay but had dinner the 2nd night. They have an extensive bar menu so then we enjoyed a scotch later in...
