My sister and I were eating mushroom soup and talking about how it was just average. She started to talk about the best mushroom soup she ever had and that it was at a small restaurant. I comment that I still remember the best mushroom soup I ever had, and it was on the Cabot Trail. Then we realized we were both talking about the same place. And it was 11 years ago. And we still both remember it, because it was THAT AMAZING!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Chanterelle Inn over Thanksgiving Weekend, October 2020. We typically book AirBNBs, so this was a different experience for us. We loved it! When we arrived, we were upgraded from a room in the Inn to a private cottage for the night! It was extremely clean and super cozy. We had a Thanksgiving dinner inside the Inn, pricy but wonderful, all locally sourced and so much food! Great local beers as well. The next morning, breakfast was included in our stay and we enjoyed fresh fruit, biscuits, tea, coffee and the most delish blueberry pancakes. All the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly! Check this place out and ideally get a cottage - a really beautiful part of the world.
Lovely spot with a great view. Dinner was creative and beautifully presented. Only one other couple there the night we dined. We stayed three nights in Cottage 3 ... great view. Cottage was somewhat rustic, but had all we needed. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck watching sunrise over the valley. About 20 mins north of Baddeck, so it was easy travel to that lovely town.
I was not expecting how stunning the location is. Pictures cannot do it justice. It truly is the perfect Country Inn, located on a beautiful hillside with the most stunning vistas we saw during our trip to Cape Breton. Not only that, but the Inn takes full advantage of it's beautiful views, and has a deck/veranda where you are served a delicious homemade breakfast while overlooking the highlands. The Inn is full of thoughtful touches that you would not expect- handmade goats milk soap in the bathroom, extra blankets tucked away under beds, a library to browse, a beautiful field in the back to go stargazing. If you have the opportunity to stay for supper it is an absolute must. For breakfast we were served homemade blueberry pancakes with Cape Breton maple syrup, delicious smoked ham, homemade oat cakes and a platter overflowing with fruit. Earlene even bagged up the oatmeal cookies for us so we could take them home. All of this eaten while watching hummingbirds in the garden, and the sun rise over the hills of the highlands. It would be a mistake to miss out on this place. For couples, friends, family- as someone who has spent my entire life living in Nova Scotia, I have never seen it like this. An absolute delight. First on our list if we ever return.…
During a tough year of covid19 a nice surprise to find and an oasis. Host Erlean (spelling?) Made us feel comfortable and served home made gourmet cuisine. Accommodations very comfortable and fragrance free.
