Alpenhof Bed and Breakfast, located just minutes from the Philadelphia airport, is a beautifully appointed family run historic bed and breakfast which is a refreshingly different accommodation from the regular "run of the mill" hotel/motel chain or guest house. Alpenhof, a 250 year-old converted bank barn, lovingly transformed by the Muller family is located just :25 minutes southwest from downtown Philadelphia in lovely Upper Providence township. Alpenhof has a lot to offer their guests. Whether it's the wonderfully comfortable handmade beds or the well appointed rooms and amenities; Roland and Anh go out of their way to make sure each guest is both comfortable and happy. Each room has its own private bathroom; flat screen tv/cable tv; free WIFI/internet; salon shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers; hair dryers; luxury bath towels and sheets; iron/ironing board; mini-frig (king rooms); and security doors. Parking is also free. While at Alpenhof, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the one-of-a-kind boulder garden or explore the flora and fauna that consumes a majority of the property; or just enjoy a relaxing afternoon around the outdoor pool or sitting out on one of the two separate decks off the back of house, taking in the surrounding beauty. Breakfast, also included in the rate, is cooked-to-order from a diverse breakfast menu -- offering each guest a wide swath of choices and a variety of dietary items. The town of Media -- just 8 minutes from the house -- offers travelers a large variety of food choices and restaurants as well as unique boutique shopping. Roland and Anh are both more than willing to offer up their favorite food places as well as inspire guests to seek out interests of all kinds. Whether it be art, history, theater, music, nature, antiquing, or fun you seek, there is a plethora of things to keep you busy for your entire stay -- all within :20 minutes from the property. Local attractions include Ridley Creek State Park, Tyler Arboretum, Rose Tree Park, Longwood Gardens, Chanticleer Gardens, Linvilla Orchards, the Brandywine River Museum and Battlefield, the Wyeth Museum, Valley Forge Park and Museum, the Colonial Plantation, PLUS EVERYTHING in Philadelphia - which is an easy :20 minute train ride from the Media station minutes from the house with plenty of safe parking. Whether you're here to visit family or friends, visiting 1 of the 15 different local colleges, here on business, or just looking to get away from the everyday grind, Alpenhof has something for everybody and guarantees a unique and wonderfully different experience. We look forward to meeting you!

Stayed 2 nights in the Grand Master Suite. Loved the decor and amenities. The view from the room and semi-private balcony is picturesque and relaxing. The bathroom shower is the best that I've experienced as it's large, beautifully designed, good water pressure, gets hot quickly, and there are lovely plants on one side. Roland and Anh are wonderful hosts and serve restaurant quality breakfast. Highly recommended!

Property's Favorite Review
We stayed for one night (10-25-2022). Our experience was excellent. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating; the house is eclectic and charming; and the breakfast was fantastic. I would definitely go back there the next time we are visiting that area of PA. I agree with another reviewer who wrote, "Truly a hidden gem, situated in a beautiful neighborhood..."

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and were looking for a weekend stay pretty close to Philadelphia. The Alpenhof is well located; it’s in a beautiful residential neighborhood right near Ridley Creek State Park but is not far from the town of Media and was about a half hour by car outside of Philly. The photos that I’ve seen of this B & B don’t really capture the feeling of actually being here. Outside, the stone house and gardens are lovely, with plantings paired with sculptures and art pieces. The entire interior feels like a work of art. The vibe is very European castle, with lots of framed prints, paintings, stenciling and live-edge handmade wood pieces mixing with antiques. We were in the Grand Master Suite, a room that was huge, with a semiprivate balcony overlooking gardens and the pool area. It was utterly quiet and peaceful.. I am still taking Covid precautions and was very comfortable with the privacy of our accommodations. We appreciated the opportunity to enjoy breakfast outside on the balcony. Breakfast is extensive, with fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt and cooked-to-order choices like omelettes and cinnamon French toast, all served on locally artisan-made pottery. I booked through their website and I feel this B & B offers excellent value. Roland was a thoughtful and considerate host and when I asked if there was a coffeeshop nearby, he brewed me a fresh cup. The Alpenhof is also home to three large and friendly dogs, it’s fun to greet them on your way in or out but I never found them underfoot. I highly recommend the Alpenhof for a relaxing getaway in Pennsylvania!

Uniquely designed home is beautifully decorated as a Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed the spacious room and the delicious breakfast, which offered many hot choices (rather than just one or two as at some B&Bs). The gardens are well maintained and the pool was much appreciated on a hot July day after touring Longwood Gardens.

From the moment you enter the property, Alpenhof is special. A beautifully landscaped setting with the quintessential Pennsylvania stone house. Roland is a wonderful host who seemed to anticipate every detail to make us feel right at home. Our room was gorgeous with a king size bed that was heavenly. The common areas are spacious and decorated with art and mementos from around the world. I liked ordering breakfast off a menu, and conversation was lively and fun at a long table with other guests. The pool was just the way to cool off after a long hot day of tourism. Melody/Larry

I was coming to Media, PA, for 3 nights, for a wedding and looking for a place to stay in lieu of the wedding hotel and was fortunate to find the Alpenhof B&B, for not much more than the hotel cost. The Grand Master Suite was well worth it! So quiet, spacious, comfortable and with a balcony overlooking the pool. Having its own private entrance was a plus also, as I would be returning late at night after the wedding ceremony. Ang, Roland and “Sis” are most accommodating and interesting hosts and their made to order breakfasts are delicious. The morning breakfast conversations, with other guests, were truly intriguing and enjoyable. Roland had recommended the Chanticleer Gardens for a place to spend an afternoon and it was beautiful and only a 20 min. drive away. I highly recommend Alpenhof and would definitely stay there again.

Apelhof is the most unusual and special bed and breakfast i have had the experience of visiting in a long time. i would go again in a heartbeat. Roland, the owner, is supremely attentive. Our room, which had it's own entrance, was HUGE--the master grand suite- and completely comfortable. the building was quiet and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. Food for breakfast, cooked to order, was excellent. Sitting at a long handcrafted table together with the other guests (less than 10) engendered great discussions to start the day. We stayed 2 nights and regretted that we didn't book for longer. thank you, roland!

My wife and I stayed at the Alpenhof this past weekend. It was magical. The Alpenhof is a uniquely beautiful bed and breakfast. Upon arrival, our breath was taken away by the stonework, the stained glass windows, the the gardens, and the exterior lighting. Our room was tastefully appointed, immaculately clean, and completely comfortable. However, the best part of our visit were our hosts, Roland and his wife. They made us feel thoroughly at home, they helped with suggestions on local sights and made us the most delicious breakfasts. What a great experience. We loved our time at the Alpenhof and plan to return in the near future.
