My husband and I stayed the weekend in the Paymaster’s Cottage. We had such a relaxing time! The room is lovely, with a wonderful tub, king-sized bed, and kitchenette. There is a table and chairs outside the cottage and we sat out there for many hours, just listening to the wolves howl and watching the wildlife. The breakfast was delivered to us each day and Dawn accommodated my lactose-free needs. The French toast was delicious! We maximized our time on the grounds and if I visit again (I hope to!), I would bring food and never drive off the site. This is not just a bed and breakfast but an experience as well. To hear those wolves, one pack at a time, join in a communal howl - well, no words can describe it. It is music to heal the soul. I have adopted Maka - I’ll try to come back soon to see her again!

We stayed at the Paymaster’s Office for a weekend staycation - our only wish was that we could stay longer! Everything was immaculately cleaned, the inn keeper was extremely accommodating for dietary restrictions… and there were several times we could just listen to the songs of the wolves at the sanctuary. We will absolutely be coming back again!

I hadn't read any of the reviews before I made plans to stay here - my sister wanted to spend the weekend at the wolf sanctuary so I made it happen. I could not have been happier. From check-in to check-out, the staff was absolutely amazing, like staying with my best friends. The breakfast was really, really good. We stayed in the Paymaster's Office, which was absolutely amazing - it's so gorgeous, richly appointed, the king-size bed had a mattress that helped us get the best night's sleep we've had in years. There was a creek right behind the cottage, and fall leaves were tumbling all around. We got to do the perimeter walk and see some of the wolves, too. It wasn't quite full moon yet, but we did hear the wolves doing a group howl at one point. I get chills just remembering it. I can't wait to go back!

From the moment we checked in with Maggie until our departure, our 3 night stay in The Whyte House was amazing! There is nothing quite like sitting on the deck at dawn & dusk and hear the wolves howl. Absolutely beautiful! The cottage is quite cozy & very clean. We also enjoyed our evening perimeter walks of the property to see the wolves. Each one has their own unique personality. My favorite is Maka and the way her whole body shakes in excitement showing off her prize possession of a bone or stick as well as her buddy Akela. My husband's favorite is Yogi. Oh how he made us laugh! Dawn made delicious breakfasts each day as well. We especially loved the baked fruit each morning as well as her baked oatmeal the first morning of our stay. We definitely would love to stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B again very soon! Thank you to all that played a part in making our stay wonderful!

We stayed in the Whyte House for 4 days. It felt like a home, everyone we came in contact with was absolutely great! This place is cleaner then the fanciest of hotels. The pictures of the Whyte House do not do it justice. The 5 star reviews of this place are all correct but don't take our word for it. You should book now, you won't be dis-appointed. And don't forget to book a tour for the sanctuary while you are here as well!

Speedwell Forge Bed & Breakfast- The Paymasters Office. If one word could sum up our weekend it would be AWESOME. Room ,Location,Privacy and definitely Dawn’s Breakfast. The Wolf Sanctuary on the same property would also fit in the AWESOME description.

We have been wanting to stay at Speedwell Forge B&B for several years and found that it was very much worth the wait. We stayed here last weekend in the Paymaster’s Office and had a wonderfully relaxing time. Prior to our stay we received emails with clear instructions about how to enter the property, where to park, and other particulars about the grounds so there were no surprises when we arrived. We were greeted by Maggie (she is adorable and delightful!), who showed us to the cottage and acclimated us for our stay. The first evening we went for dinner then came back and relaxed in the cottage and just outside at the table on the lawn. I was able to hear the wolves howling - each time I was like a kid - so astounded by the sound. The next day we were up early for a perimeter walk around the wolves where we were able to interact with them and take many photos. They are clearly very well taken care of, and though it was not our first time seeing them (we had previously taken a tour in 2018), being able to see them alone was a treasure. They all ran out to see us and often they would howl in unison. Very haunting and beautiful. When we returned Maggie dropped off our breakfast and checked that we didn’t need anything else for the room. Breakfast was delicious and filling and one of the highlights you don’t want to miss! We spent the day driving around the area and visiting Kitchen Kettle Village and several Farmer’s markets. Our room was the cleanest room we have EVER stayed in. It was absolutely immaculate. The kitchenette was well stocked, the room itself had everything we needed, the bathroom was just the right size and had all the extras necessary, and the very deep and oversized whirlpool tub was perfect! Though our weekend was one of the hottest of the year thus far, the cottage was cool and comfortable and being outside next to the creek was actually relaxing especially with all the calming sounds of nature there. The property truly is beautiful and we can’t wait to visit again soon!

We stayed in the Summer Kitchen and it was very clean and comfortable! We tried to get around to see the wolves, but my husband couldn’t walk the hill. We did see a few white wolves who came out to say hello. The access on the main level is no longer available, so we sat at the gate and a few more wolves came out to say ‘hi!’ Breakfast was great! Speedwell Forge B & B is always a great place to stay!

This was our third visit to Speedwell Forge B&B. We plan to go again. We've stayed in the summer kitchen twice and once in the paymaster's cottage. Both are excellent. The two floors in the summer kitchen add a unique feel which I prefer. It feels totally secluded. My wife likes the paymaster's cottage:) Both are very clean and beautifully decorated but do not lose the historic feel. As a consequence of COVID, breakfast is now delivered to the cottages which I prefer, rather than eating in a common area in the main house. The food was quite delicious and beautifully prepared. This B&B is only 15 minutes from our home, but when we are there it feels like we are 100 miles away and have gone back in time 250 years (but with all the modern amenities). It is quiet and quite serene. Perfect to simply relax, do day trips or focus on a writing project without distractions. Warm Regards to Dawn, Darin and Maggie the housekeeper
